The staff on the phone are nonchalant and even rude at times. Extremely unknowledgeable and asked me to contact an electrician to find out basic information about my Hydro Ottawa account!

Half of my power was off in the house including AC in the house was 80. I called Hydro Ottawa to ask if there were any power outages and they replied there was not. They explained that the power lines indicated power going into my house and that I would not be charged for any appliances that were not currently working. This was very good knowledge and customer service. It was explained that it probably was an internal problem with wiring. I think them very much for their assistance and proceeded to head to contact the people in my co-op who handle emergency situations

User's recommendation: Don’t be afraid to fall Hydro Ottawa they will respond and if it is an urgent matters such as a heat wave an air conditioner please do not be afraid to use the emergency line

Power Outages

I called Ottawa Hydro this morning. What a farce! First, I couldnt get an option to speak directly to Customer Service. So in frustration, I press any number and finally was able to speak with someone. I explained that in the last few months, the minute there is any kind of wind, we run out of power in the village of Edwards. So the answer I got is that it may be in a junction box but since I wasn't experiencing a power outage, he could not send anyone out. I then asked him to look up previous outages to see what had been the problem. I was told that he couldnt do that because, once resolved, it disappears from the system. So, when I pushed some more to speak to someone higher up, he said that would be of no use since I was not experiencing a problem. I then told him that when I did call Sunday morning, once I pressed the #1 to indicate I was without power, I was told that this has been registered and I was disconnected. He answered that this was the way the system was designed. I then ask to obtain the direct Power Outage line and was given the phone number. I can assure you that the whole neighborhood will get this number. Brace yourselves for a flood of calls when the next power outage takes place... because it will. Was really disappointed with this conversation. Obviously, someone from Hydro Ottawa should be verifying the cause of these multiple power outage. Not impressed.
