- Adult Protective Services says it's a police matter.
apparently a detective in this department does not believe it is important to investigate a case where the woman who has dementia and has been abused by her caretaker even though they do have a witness to it. adult protective services says this is a police matter because it is a criminal investigation.
I wasn't aware that the detective makes the decision whether they're going to prosecute a case or not. it's just easier to file it in a box and forget about it and then lie to the relatives when they call and ask about it.
