Unresponsive Management and Bed Bugs

I found bed bugs in my unit on the third floor and the association's response was to say they would not be getting involved. This means no matter how much money I spend to get rid of them, they will come back again and again because the association will not address the issue. Aside from their inaction on bed bugs, the community is very anti-dog, communication between management and residents in non-existent, and the Board doesn't even publicly post agenda items, so you have no clue what inane decision they are about to make. Building water shut off? They won't email you. You'll have no idea. Association is stuck in 1995 business practices. I emailed management about safety issues and didn't receive a response for a month, and that was only because I hurt myself walking my dog. Long story short. This place is poorly managed, not 21st century friendly, and they do nothing to prevent or stop the spread of bed bug infestations. I've lived here 8 years, and just can't take how poorly run it is anymore. I am moving out at the end of February. Whoever moves into my unit, I hope you like poor customer service and bed bugs!

Horrible Maintenance Staff

I've been living here for several years now as a renter and I used to love living here, but now I hate it. They got rid of all of the in-house maintenance staff and contracted with someone else, so whenever I need something done in my unit it is like pulling teeth to get it done or it never gets done. My refrigerator has sounded like a muscle car engine for over a year and every time I complain, Louis just comes and looks at it. What will looking at it do??? My a/c stopped working properly -- it was blowing air but not actually heating the apartment. Louis was of course not listening and he decided I said that it was not turning on and went to check the circuit breaker. Now, that would be fine if the breaker wasn't behind a very fragile ladder bookshelf loaded with books. He proceeds to try to move my very fragile bookshelf without asking me first if he could. As soon as he was done, I could hear the bookshelf creaking and cracking. I want over just in time to hold it up long enough to remove fragile things before my belongings all crashed to the floor. He was in my kitchen "looking at the fridge" so I am sure he heard it yet made no comment to acknowledge he broke it. When my a/c was finally repaired a few weeks later, they asked to come in and paint my a/c and I said okay. I came home to find a gray monstrosity .... every other wall is a neutral beige--- why would gray be an option. When I called him to complain, he was confused as to why I wouldn't want it gray. I ended up not ever having them change it because I don't care anymore. I am getting the *** out of here as soon as I can.

As a renter, your owner is responsible for the refrigerator and the a/c unit. Maintenance is NOT responsible for these items.

Complaint System --- Here's How It Works

Make complaint about your neighbor to the front desk. if bldg staff likes that neighbor they quash the complaint. If they dont like that neighbor they tell the Board President and he has the attorneys for the condo send a nasty threatening letter. Beware if you are a woman. This gender seems to be the focus of this behavior. Front desk is rude and unhelpful. Board President has been in office for over 5 years against condo policy. No oversite into how the building's money is spent. They provide a budget but there a no line items so what was the $$ spent on?

I painted the front of the building at the end of October and now it's December and still haven't been payed. JUST WANT TO SAY IF U DO WORK FOR HARMED GET YOUR MONEY UP FRONT OR YOU WON'T GET PAYED

The address is 2059 Huntington Ave. in Alexandria, Va. Our owner of our unit is a slum lord..everything is 30 years old and he wants us to fix it for free. The cabinets, tile, carpet...he said he'll pay for supplies only.....we are to do all the hard work.He's a user. It was like this dump when we moved in .... the place is a rip-off and nasty, old, and dirty...the front desk people are lazy and rude to you...the front desk employees want to watch TV and talk on the phone. run for your life!! The area of town is low-class also.

It's like being in prison for a crime you didn't commit.Rude front desk, nosey, many rules, they watch your coming and goings...our unit is a dump.everything fell apart or doesn't work and is the original product! Cabinets fell off, tile was off the floor, carpet is 2 inches away from the wall...the air-conditoiner is a floor model and has broken many times...the windows can't be opened...strong draft from the glass door...every closet is broken....id we wanted something better the owner tells us to fic it in our own time for free...oh...he will only pay for supplies.

All your complaints refer to the OWNER, not the condominium. the management has always been superb, everything has been updated and maintained, but they have no control over the individual owners and how they treat their tenants. As for watching you coming and going, that's what they are paid for and often it becomes very evident why that is important.

you keep posting, gotta answer. It is CONDO, it is owned by an individual - not the actual association - why are you complaining about the building?

YOU RENTED IT, you obviously saw what you were renting and decided it was right for you. Did you think that the appliances would magically be replaced when you moved in? Did you think that carpet would magically fix itself?

Again, you rented it!

Why in the world would you rent such a place unless it really isn't as bad and you keep posting? In addition, unless you have it in writing, the landlord is under no obligation whatsoever to replace anything!

You obvioulsy don't like the apartment, the landlord was being generous in offering to finance the upgrades you want. What is the problem??
