Hughes Roofing

I had Sean Hughes of Hughes Roofing Company out of Wrens, GA come do an estimate for me after the "Snowpocalypse" that hit us in February. I chose him because his web site states that he is rated A+ by the BBB (which he is not, he was not even a member, as I found out later).

I gave him $500.00 in good faith as he said he needed it for "supplies" and to start as soon as possible. Now, over 7 weeks later, still no work has been done. He hangs up on me when I call him and his girlfriend cursed me on the phone in our last conversation when I was only trying to give him one last chance to make things right before I bring him to small claims court. He has refused to repair the shed roof that he gave us an estimate for and told me doesn't repair "flat roofs" (but his web site states he does).

This should not matter, as my shed does not have a flat roof. Upon researching the web for other reviews on this company I found a pattern of unprofessional behavior from this company. I also have a co-worker who's mother was treated the same way by this man. She is filing a formal complaint against this company with the Attorney General's office of Consumer Protection as I have.

What ever you do, don't make the same mistake I did.

DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN MONEY UP FRONT!! I hope this review will prevent others from going through what I have been put through by this company.

We hired Sean Hughes to replace our roof on 3/8/2014. We gave him a down payment of $500.00 to get moved up in line.

We then paid him another $4000.00 on 3/17/2014 with the written promise of work beginning by 4/8/2014. Then the excuses began - too cold, too hot, no crew, etc. He finally had a roll off delivered on 5/3/2014 and showed up by himself to remove about 4 or 5 rows of shingles. He said his crew was at lunch, then later said they were finishing another job.

He said maybe if we gave him another $1500.00 things could move faster. We told him we wanted a refund because he obviously couldn't do the job in a reasonable amount of time. He refused and became hostile. He told me to stop "hounding him" and to "back off".

Strangely, he also began making disparaging remarks about the company where my husband works.

Other odd and nasty e-mails followed. We have alerted the police about him and will proceed with whatever is necessary to get back our money and protect others from making the same mistake.

I paid Sean Hughes of Hughes Roofing in Augusta (really Wrens, Ga) a small deposit to repair my roof after the bad storm in February. Well, he never called, never came and refused to send my insurance company an itemized estimate for the repairs.

That was three months ago. I have filed in small claims court and since then have learned of FIVE other people in this area alone who Mr Hughes has ripped off. He just went to court on one charge in Columbia County. GA and was ordered by the judge to repay the people in that county the $4,500 he stole from them.

He has three other complaints against him in other counties. I personally have a court date with him also and plan to file criminal charges as I was told by the clerk of court that what Mr Hughes is doing is a Felony!

What ever you do DO NOT HIRE THIS *** ARTIST! He is a liar and a thief.

Whose little silver car? Is that your gray pickup truck?

What is down at the pond? Why do you go so often? Your *** games are catching up with you and you are being exposed for what you really are. Are drugs involved in your cons or are you just that messed up?

People are fed up with cons, liars, thieves, etc., which, by the way, you fit all of these categories, do you not?

Now you have a regular following because you have cheated so many people and those people have friends and we all are watching to see what happens with the charges that have been filed against you and if you can weasel your way out of them, after all, that,s what you are is a weasel, right? We will be in touch.

This "Roof Guy" is no such thing, he's a lowlife ***!! DO NOT get tied up with this guy. He appears to be mentally unstable, possibly a substance abuser, narcissistic sociopath. He seems to think everyone else in the world is wrong and he is right about everything. He has taken no responsibility for his own actions, or lack thereof. He has fabricated stories, made underhanded threats and has gotten aggressive when things don't go the way his twisted mind thinks they should. This is all very apparent in his rambling, crazy post on all forms of social media and his underhanded threats and derogatory remarks toward customers, businesses, public figures and institutions. It is believed that he will pay for the wrong he has done and the money he has taken from customers and businesses (Howard Lumber & Southern Roofing just to name a couple).

I hope he has the forethought to have someone care for that dog when he goes to his next few dates with the courts. Now that his caregiver, Amanda, has found the good sense to get away from this abusive man. We know his "Rich Kids" don't care and also have the good sense not to associate with him at all, so maybe some of the good people there in Wrens will risk going over to that blacked out window trailer that he stays in and see about that dog. That poor dog doesn't deserve to suffer due to having an irresponsible owner.

Wonder who's driving him around now that Amanda is gone? I wonder if he's licensed for ANYTHING, unless he has one for blaming the world for his shortcomings, personal and professional! Oh, you don't have to have one for that, you can show the world what a coward & lowlife you are without any kind of license.

After all, to quote Sean Hughes, "What goes around, comes around" and we are waiting and watching!!

I was in the market for some roofing work as a result of the ice storm. Fortunately, I spoke with a very close friend who I knew had had some similar work done and he told me that he had hired Hughes Roofing and had been ripped off and Mr. Hughes was nothing but a ***. My friend told me that he hired Mr. Hughes to do some roofing work and Mr. Hughes took his money and did some work but disguised the work with paint. After some time, the paint faded and revealed that the work was not done.

Later I learned that Mr. Hughes portrays his business as being in Augusta, GA but his address is 4080 Hwy 17, Augusta, GA 30833. This address is correct except the zip code is Wrens, GA and is an obscure trailer park.

If a business man was honest and honorable, why would he mislead the public and potential clients about anything including his address. Is he hiding from someone? Could he not want certain people to find him? If so, why?

He portrays himself as a Christian in that he says such things as, he'll pray for certain ones after cursing at them, ripping them off, telling them to stop harassing him, etc. What God is he praying to? Certainly not the God of the Bible. The God of the Bible (Jehovah God) teaches us to treat others as we would like to be treated. He, Jehovah, teaches honesty, honor, going the extra mile to avoid offending others, pay your debts, etc.

It is quite obvious that Mr. Hughes is not honest or honorable or a man of Jehovah God and I urge all to avoid him like the plague.

Mr. Hughes assured us he could and would fix problems with our roof when he came and gave estimate, he stated he would come back as much as necessary to get the job done.

He has not fulfilled contract, now stating he has done all he could do and the previous contractor was the one at fault. That is why we hired Mr. Hughes, to fix what the previous contractor did.

Again, he assured us he would be able to fix the problem, that is what the estimate and contract was for; and that is what we paid him $1200.00 for. We are 100% DISSATISFIED and would not recommend him to anyone.
