Hrs flooring

Hrs flooring - Image 2

In 2012 we had carpet put in throughout my home by HRS flooring, consisting of two separate orders, one doing my basement, and the other my entire upstairs. At the time, we dealt with Avi, and a newly hired sales person I think named Mike.

We were given good prices for carpet and was told that the carpet we bought would last easily 15-20 years. The problem has been with the installation. Within 3 months of installation the carpet became bumpy throughout the house. They have sent people out twice since being put in, but they never fixed it right because they "don't want to break the seams".

Not sure what that means, but my $5000.00 spent in carpet has been a waste. I have visible lumps and bumps throughout the house (in EVERY room, even under the beds) and every place that they suppose to have fixed is not fixed. I am attaching pictures of places that have been repaired TWICE! I have had carpet put in several times in my life and have never had it look the way this does.

I wish Avi would come by and see for himself how this looks. The carpet has worn well and looks fine, yet I am still going to have to replace it because the installation was so poor.

Flooring Ordeal

Run, don’t walk, away from this company and save yourself time, stress, and frustration.

I received a free estimate with Mike Holston, for a laminate installation on the first floor of our townhome. He was nice and knowledgeable and offered a reasonable price for a one day job with a three man crew on approximately 600 square feet for living room and kitchen. We picked out the color and style, paid our deposit, and were excited to get this project out of the way.

We scheduled the appointment for a Friday morning at 8:00am and no one showed up. It took several hours of calls to our salesman to finally learn that apparently “the material never made it on the truck” and they would need to reschedule. Mike was very nice and apologetic and couldn’t believe this happened, he scheduled the installation for the following day – a Saturday – to make things right.

The two man crew that “completed” the installation showed up late, were rude to our neighbors, were on their cell phones most of day, did sloppy work, didn’t bring enough material to finish the job and made numerous rookie errors including covering over a heating register! The worst part was the actually flooring installation which left so many planks uneven and with corners sticking up. My guess would be half of the planks were installed incorrectly. They advised they would finish the job by 6:00pm, but they didn’t “finish” until after 9:00pm that night.

From there, it went from bad to worse. I reached out to both the flooring manager, Brandon Pindell, and the president of the company, Avi Gunsberg. It took 9 additional appointments and two and a half months of working with these guys to fix everything that was wrong with the first installation. The entire process was filled with frustration since they missed appointments, they didn’t bring enough materials, or they lost pieces of our kitchen and had to come out for additional fixes.

In the end, the floors look very good and guests and visitors have complimented the end result. My concern is they took a couple of shortcuts to fix some of the errant planks and leveling issues, so we are still closely monitoring the floor for future issues. They offered a year long warranty on their installation, which doesn’t instill confidence in their installation. I’m hoping nothing goes seriously wrong, as I do not want to deal with this company again.

Overall, I will give this company a D for effort. They continued to work with us throughout the ordeal and kept apologizing profusely for their crew’s errors, but I truly wish I had gone with another company. They did give us a discount based on how much their crews messed up and how much time we wasted in order to get a fix, but it was not enough to make the situation right. I understand that they sent out crews to fix their mistakes, but if they hadn’t made mistakes in the first place, they wouldn’t have needed to fix anything. Again, I strongly urge anyone considering this company to RUN far away from this company!

Hello. Thank you for reading my response.

I am the owner of HRS Flooring. In response to this account we did screw up the first installation. As happens sometimes in our industry we had a perfectly good crew that had done many successful jobs in the past go bad. It happens to be that this is the job that it went bad on.

We offered to (and did) replace the entire floor with no extra cost to the consumer. There were a few minor repairs that had to be taken care of after the replacement which we did in as quick of a manor as possible. On top of the added cost of replacing the entire floor we discounted their job by 20% for the trouble. What they failed to mention is that many of the missed appointments and rescheduling was caused by the customer.

We met them at their house and replaced the floor on the weekend to go above and beyond and work around their schedule. What they also failed to mention was the unfair request from them for us to provide the entire job for free (even after all of the extra costs).

Like I said I admit to screwing up - but we did EVERYTHING in our power to fix it (and as she says she is happy with the end result).

HRS Flooring WARNING!

Updated by user Apr 28, 2012

Ok, so after a couple of hours of trying to delete this posting I have found that you cannot remove posts. About two weeks after the incident and about ten days after I posted this review to pissedconsumer, I was contacted by the owner of hrs flooring.

He offered, although I had no concrete proof that it was his guys, to repay me for both of the air conditioning units. I accepted the offer and a couple of weeks later I got a check in the mail for the full amount.

I would and will do business with HRS flooring in the future. the owner went above and beyond my expectations with this whole matter, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.

I had a free estimate done by Mike Holston with HRS Flooring for a rental property of mine that i just bought in Baltimore City. I paid in full ahead of time for all the carpet he was "going to install." I gave him the combo to my lock box, containing the keys to my property, and was told that he would have the carpet installed in two days.

I came by three days later to see the job and was shocked to see that i was missing two brand new window air conditioning units stolen from the house. They were still in the box and placed in both bedroom closets. I had purchased them from home depot for a grand total of just over 900 dollars. I tried contacting "Mike" with HRS Flooring to make a complaint with his boss but i have never had "Mike Holston" answer or return my calls.

I have security bars on all windows and made sure there was no break in. The only two people in this world who know my lock box combo is Mike Holston of HRS Flooring and myself and i sure didnt steal anything from me. Also the carpet in both rooms are about an inch short of covering the space measured. I need new carpeting to replace the *** job HRS Flooring did and i also need to spend 900 more dollars to replace all the stuff that they stole.

DO NOT USE HRS FLOORING!!! they will ROB YOU BLIND.

Please hear my warning i dont want you to fall victim to them like i have.
