Run, don’t walk, away from this company and save yourself time, stress, and frustration. I received a free estimate with Mike Holston, for a laminate installation on the first floor of our townhome. He was nice and knowledgeable and offered a reasonable price for a one day job with a three man crew on approximately 600 square feet for living room and kitchen. We picked out the color and style, paid our deposit, and were excited to get this project out of the way. We scheduled the appointment for a Friday morning at 8:00am and no one showed up. It took several hours of calls to our salesman to finally learn that apparently “the material never made it on the truck” and they would need to reschedule. Mike was very nice and apologetic and couldn’t believe this happened, he scheduled the installation for the following day – a Saturday – to make things right. The two man crew that “completed” the installation showed up late, were rude to our neighbors, were on their cell phones most of day, did sloppy work, didn’t bring enough material to finish the job and made numerous rookie errors including covering over a heating register! The worst part was the actually flooring installation which left so many planks uneven and with corners sticking up. My guess would be half of the planks were installed incorrectly. They advised they would finish the job by 6:00pm, but they didn’t “finish” until after 9:00pm that night. From there, it went from bad to worse. I reached out to both the flooring manager, Brandon Pindell, and the president of the company, Avi Gunsberg. It took 9 additional appointments and two and a half months of working with these guys to fix everything that was wrong with the first installation. The entire process was filled with frustration since they missed appointments, they didn’t bring enough materials, or they lost pieces of our kitchen and had to come out for additional fixes. In the end, the floors look very good and guests and visitors have complimented the end result. My concern is they took a couple of shortcuts to fix some of the errant planks and leveling issues, so we are still closely monitoring the floor for future issues. They offered a year long warranty on their installation, which doesn’t instill confidence in their installation. I’m hoping nothing goes seriously wrong, as I do not want to deal with this company again. Overall, I will give this company a D for effort. They continued to work with us throughout the ordeal and kept apologizing profusely for their crew’s errors, but I truly wish I had gone with another company. They did give us a discount based on how much their crews messed up and how much time we wasted in order to get a fix, but it was not enough to make the situation right. I understand that they sent out crews to fix their mistakes, but if they hadn’t made mistakes in the first place, they wouldn’t have needed to fix anything. Again, I strongly urge anyone considering this company to RUN far away from this company!
Hello. Thank you for reading my response.
I am the owner of HRS Flooring. In response to this account we did screw up the first installation. As happens sometimes in our industry we had a perfectly good crew that had done many successful jobs in the past go bad. It happens to be that this is the job that it went bad on.
We offered to (and did) replace the entire floor with no extra cost to the consumer. There were a few minor repairs that had to be taken care of after the replacement which we did in as quick of a manor as possible. On top of the added cost of replacing the entire floor we discounted their job by 20% for the trouble. What they failed to mention is that many of the missed appointments and rescheduling was caused by the customer.
We met them at their house and replaced the floor on the weekend to go above and beyond and work around their schedule. What they also failed to mention was the unfair request from them for us to provide the entire job for free (even after all of the extra costs).
Like I said I admit to screwing up - but we did EVERYTHING in our power to fix it (and as she says she is happy with the end result).
