City of Houston Water billing error

Updated by user Jan 26, 2018

No updates, no one has called to resolve. Still waiting.

Original review Dec 27, 2017

Hello, My mom passed in 2004 and I inherited the business around 2006 after all paperwork to her possessions were final. From around 2000 until my mom passed, the business was not open.

Then I received a letter and my last payment back that the account holder was deceased and they would be shutting off the water and closing the account. Around 2009 I opened the business back up and called the water company to open an account in my name. Opened the account and a few months later received a bill for about $2,800. Called the water company and was told that I had water usage for all those years.

Informed the agent of my letter and water was supposed to be turned off. She informed me that it was not off and I would have to pay the bill. Started my Hearings with the water company and was told to pay the current balance while I'm in the Hearings process. After all of the Hearings I am told that I was denied.

I am writing to see if you can help in any way. I am wanting the water company to take responsibility for not shutting off the water and making me pay for their error.

No one was at this building for years. I think City of Houston don't want to admit to their errors because they know they are the only water company and feel they can do what they want to.
