Dear Hook & Reel Corporate Team,

I'm writing to formally express my frustration with my recent visit to your Middletown, NY location on May 23, 2025.

I came in with a valid 15% off coupon (which clearly states it cannot be combined with other offers) and was told it couldn't be used simply because I ordered from the lunch menu. Thats not an offer, its just the menu available during lunch hoursno specials, no deals, just regular pricing.

This feels like false advertising, and it's extremely disappointing.

To make matters worse, the food was subparI'm a certified chef, so I dont say this lightly:

The sweet potato waffle fries were greasy and completely inedible. I didnt even touch them after a few bitesthey were left on the plate.

The catfish was so soaked in grease that it coated my mouth with oil before I could even taste the fish.

Crispy is one thingdrenched in canola oil is another.

The shrimp were bland and dry, clearly the result of using frozen pre-deveined shrimp with no seasoning or care in preparation.

Between the refusal to honor your own advertised coupon and the disappointing quality of the food, this visit left a really bad tasteliterally and figuratively.

Ive attached photos of the coupon and the receipt for reference. I hope someone from your team will take this seriously and make it right.

They should have just honored the coupon on pre-tax, non-alcoholic items. As for a refund, that needed to be addressed with the manager as you showed him what you wanted a refund on as evidenced by 90% of it still being uneaten.

What did the manager say when you addressed the issues with the food and requested a refund at the of service? I've honestly never heard of someone getting a full refund after consuming a variety of food and drinking beverages.

A discount, sure, but a full refund seems excessive. When they denied your coupon, that was your opportunity to leave but you chose to stay and pay the full amount.
