recently bought a vehicle from the Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac on North Nimitz Highway. It was a 2008 BMW 528I. Bought it on 4/28/18. During the test drive on 4/28/18 with myself my wife and salesman Jon Palting the brake light went on while my wife was driving! After test drive I took my wife to work and told Jon I'll come back and buy the car if you guys can fix the brake light that went on. I came back and Jon said they had to put brake fluid on the car and light wasn't there anymore. I put $2000 cash down for the 2008 BMW 528I and drove off the lot. After driving off the lot the same brake light came on about 5 minutes after driving off the lot!! I was on the freeway and texted Jon about light coming back on. Jon said BMW has an open recall for something so I should take car to BMW for service. Jon set up the appointment with BMW and I dropped car off on 4/30/18 to BMW. Later that day Tobi from BMW texted me that they were concerned about the safety of the BMW I turned in. They said there was oil leaking onto radiator hoses causing it to swell. They also said the drive belt was walking off the tensioner and if it went off track it could get swallowed into engine causing accidental death ! I told Tobi I have a warranty by Vanguard for the vehicle but according to the Finance manager it's not finalized so I told Tobi I'm not going to pay for repairs out of my pocket and want to wait for my warranty to go into effect and have my warranty to pay for repairs. I told Jon what was going on and Jon said dont worry BMW is trying to upsell me. I told Jon can you or Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac guarantee my safety driving the car that already had the brake light go on during the test drive and after driving off the lot after purchasing the car? And now BMW's recommendation that driving the car is NOT SAFE? Jon told me for peace and mind that I can turn the car back in and they'll look at it. I returned the BMW back to Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac on 4/30/18- that's 2 days after buying the car!! I asked Jon if they had a loaner car since I only bought the car and already having all these problems. Jon said "no loaner cars available" To be fair I appreciate the fact they were able to approve me because I have bad credit from my past...but they literally threw the "As Is" condition in my face!! Brake light coming on during the test drive and then coming on again after buying the car (even after salesman said it was just low on brake fluid and light wasn't on anymore ?) Then finding out about all the dangerous things the actual dealer (BMW)pointed out to me about the car and I'm supposed to "not worry" because salesman said they are trying to upsell me and "they checked the car and it's safe " I brought up my frustration to the salesman about not being treated fairly but the only response was I should be grateful I was approved for a car loan with my bad credit. I then brought up how it's not right for me to have to go through this so soon after buying the car..2 days after buying the car I'm already returning car in for service ? Salesman said it's very common especially from a used independent car lot. I NEVER got an apology he just kept saying I should be grateful I received an approval. Okay so I guess I'm supposed to just "suck it up?" But I guess now I just wait...until they find a way to fix or make an attempt to fix the car the cheapest way possible. All I can do is think who should I make a formal complaint to..Yelp...LIthia Corporate... BBB (who by the way Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac has an F rating) or the local tv station Khon Channel 2 Action Line. So to recap the worst car buying experience I ever had.. I returned the BMW that I just bought 2 days ago back to Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac on 4/30/18. Was denied a loaner. Never received an apology for the ordeal of buying a car with the brake light coming on during the test drive and problem not properly fixed because it happened five minutes after I bought the car and drove off the lot and Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac NOT taking BMW's analysis that the car was NOT safe to drive. It's 05/07/18 as I write this email 8 days after returning the car to Honolulu Buick GMC Cadillac. I even emailed them on their website and company email on 05/04/18 and all I got was a guy named Sean who called me on 05/05/8 asking "you were inquiring about a car?" so they obviously DON'T READ THEIR EMAILS. WELL TOO BAD ...AFTER SENDING THIS EMAIL TO LITHIA CORPORATE. I ALREADY HAVE DRAFTS OF MY EXPERIENCE ON YELP, BBB, AND WILL CALL THE LOCAL TV STATION KHON 2 ACTION LINE (THAT HANDLES BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM LOCAL BUSINESSES) OH AND OF COURSE GO ON FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND TWITTER TO EXPOSE AND LET EVERYONE KNOW OF MY EXPERIENCE. JUST GIVE ME BACK MY $2000 DOWN PAYMENT AND I'LL BE HAPPY.
