Ive had 3 bad experiences in the past year after using this service center since 2009 for 4 different cars. Left the transmission dipstick loose under the hood for our mountain vacation and gave me problems and I got Oops!

Sorry that happened! Then when it was time for a tune up (spark plugs) they told me the car needed new piston rings! $4700! At 100k miles.

They said the plugs were oil fouled due to bad rings. I knew they were 100k miles old so I asked if they checked compression in all 6 cylinders and they said yes, it was way off, yada yada. I said replace the plugs, drove it home. Checked the compression myself and all were within spec.

Did a cylinder cleaning and replaced the plugs, motor flush and changed the oil. Bottle of Techron in the tank and the car has been running perfectly with zero oil consumption or any other signs of need. Brought my sons civic in last week due to intermittent failure of AC and fan to turn on over about 6 months (maybe failed to turn on 4 times total) and they said $1100 evaporator core was the fix. I knew the core was fine so I paid them $179 for nothing and brought it somewhere else and the replaced a relay and told me I was almost scammed.

I called DJ in the service department and asked what was going on over there and why they keep trying to bilk money from me for unnecessary repairs but got complete silence.

Not going back. Theres just so much I can forgive.

Bait & Switch

Arrived at Honda of Covington and was met by Salesperson Ryan Ahrens. My wife indicated that she was looking for a Gray 2014 Honda Pilot w/ Navigation.

We drove the vehicle and indicated we would be in touch. Began pricing and Trade-In dialogue w/ Ryan until we came to an agreement. Ryan insisted we come to the dealership and finalize the deal..Insuring there would be no hassle or surprises. Arrived at dealership to begin the purchase process.

The invoice presented to us offered $1,700 less than the negotiated price. I complained and threatened to leave...they apologized and changed the offer to add the additional $1,700. I then asked to see the vehicle. They presented me with a Black Honda Pilot.

I told them we had never discussed nor wanted a Black Pilot and that Gray was what we drove and desired. They said the Gray 2014 had been sold but that we could buy a 2015 Gray Pilot for much more money. I refused their deal and left the dealership. I emailed the Owner and General Manager of the dealership, Laurie McCants, to inform her of the Bait and Switch tactics.

Given her response, it is obvious to me that the shady sales tactics originate with her and her management team.

Its all about selling new cars regardless of what it takes! If this is how the Sales Teams conducts business, I can only imagine the peril that awaits from the warranty and service department!

Covington of Honda really bad customer service

Updated by user Jul 07, 2012

Honda Of Covington just called to tell me they have changed their mind and are cutting me a check

Original review Jul 06, 2012

Went to purchase car and had forgotten credit card,so told finance officer I would write check if he would hold it until I called to let him know I had transferred funds into my checking account. Check was chased before I called resulting in bank fee which dealership refuses to pay back to me. They also are lying about me telling them to hold check saying I told them 3 days I called Honda Of America which s aid they would help but have never gotten call back from them as promised You would think $108 refund to keep customer happy would be reasonable
