HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was told the incorrect information upon signing up for this service. Upon my attempts to receive their "list of properties" I have been told that I cannot EMAIL customer service for the list except between 3-5 pm. I am well aware of how electronic correspondence operates and I am completely baffled as A) to why these people think that I have the time to precisely time an EMAIL every single day for between 3-5 and b) why they can't just send the bloody list to me, post my initial required inquiry of course, between THEIR specified times. The customer service manager is named Lauren and she is both rude and condescending. That seems to seem a very unlikely combo in the person who is supposed to managing CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY AS YOU WILL UNDOUBTEDLY WASTER BOTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

SCAM!!!!

I will make this brief. Brief that statement describes the service rendered. Upon falling for this scam, and being lied to I received an email containing 3 pages of outdated house listing out of my requested area. Once I called to complain Jessica, Lisa, and Lara were the out standing customer support personal I dealt with. They were unprofessional, tackles, and down right rude. You could tell that they had rehearsed the company credo.

Company Policy:

To provide customer with rental information matching the criteria in which

request on a DAILY BASIS upon request.

By telephone, fax, email.

To use all sources deemed reliable and reputable to obtain rental

information for client's inspection. However, Hometown Rentals is not

responsible for misinformation i.e. (spelling, areas, names, etc.)

To obtain rental information from any source available for client's

inspection.

This contract, when presented, entitles the above named subscriber(s) to

rental information for 180 days. For the sole purpose of locating suitable

housing only. Any other use of this information is not allowed.

Hometown Rentals is strictly a rental information service only and does not

inspect, appraise, or show property, therefore, is not responsible for the

condition of rental properties listed through service. Hometown Rentals does

NOT offer any REFUNDS once an account has been activated.

This account is nontransferable, non assignable, and non-cancelable however

Management reserves the right to terminate this account for misuse or abuse

of services and or employees and no refunds will be available on this

account.

This is the first time hearing almost all of the above statement. This message is sent after they have already false advertised, and outright stole your money. It is not worth the 69$.

You are absolutely correct! This company is a SCAM!I have rental properties and have received phone calls from people whom find my properties listed on the reports they are given from this company.

The callers are furious when I inform them that the vacancies were filled months ago. Then, the callers say they are finding that many of the listings are outdated and worthless for them while seeking a place to live. The worst part of this company is that I DID NOT give them permission to use my properties for their advertising.

They just took my property information from an advertising listing found online.AVOID! AVOID!

Guest

I was just trying to reach out to Home Town Rental, but after reading your review i don't think i want to go through that.

Guest

I called them this morning, and I knew that it was a scam as soon as they asked me for the $69.00. The clue for me was that they had a rental house listed on craigslist for a lot less money then the market value...

Rip off - Everything I was interested in was conveniently rented

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Everything I was interested in looking at was conveniently rented. I have two large dogs that not just anyone will accept and was guaranteed that this agency would be able to find a property for me. Well they lied. I was steered toward more expensive properties or properties in communities where I was NOT interested in living. I kept being reassured that an updated list was "on its way". The company refused a refund of the "finders fee" as they stated many adequate properties had been provided and it was not their fault that I could not come to an agreement with the property management companies. Stay away from this company. IT IS A SCAM!

Complete Rip Off

I registered with Hometown Rentals yesterday. They explained to me that they had a list of over 1,100 rental properties throughout Middle Tennessee, and that they would email me said list with my requirements in mind(pet friendly, under $1000 rent a month, location, etc.). The list I received contained 20 rental properties total, and only ONE property listed was within the area I requested with an absolute NO PETS policy. I was charged $79 for NOTHING and refused any sort of compensation for my complete dissatisfaction. The lady I registered with, name LISA, was incredibly rude with me when I called and asked to speak with the owner of the company. Apparently when you register with their company, you have an account with them for 180 days(6 months) and can request a list of rental properties at any time. This was NEVER mentioned to me whatsoever. Lisa literally argued with me for 10 minutes exclaiming and yelling at me that she informed me of this. SHE NEVER DID. She even swore on her childrens' lives and said, "I've worked with this company for over a year; I know how to do my job." Completely and utterly rude with ZERO professional customer service. I even tried to file a complaint against them with the Better Business Bureau, but they aren't even registered with BBB.

This company will RIP YOU OFF, refuse a refund, refuse to let you speak with the owner, and be completely rude and disrespectful in the process.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Sincerely,

one PISSED OFF consumer.

Home town Rentals is a SCAM - Buyer Beware

I was charged a $69 fee for OLD and outdated information! I called on over 25 of their listings in the Nashville area and every one of them were no longer available! I was told that I would have to speak with Heath (last name irnot available) concerning a refund. Over four consecutive days he was not in the office and the office manager, Lauren, did not know when he would return. Their special list is syndicated. Meaning they are pulling all of the information off of places that you have access for free, like hotpads.com,and zillow.com. This is a scam and a waste of money!

I too had the same experience. They told me they dont give refunds so I never got my money back.

When I told them they were a scam they told me they would stop sending me a list of rentals. It didnt matter cause they get rentals off of craigslist too.

I found every one of the rentals on Craigslist, Zillow, hotpads and so on. I agree its a scam

Paid $80 for outdated lists

Kept calling for list updates in the Nashville area -- got lists of outdated info. The typical response was, "We're sorry, we rented that unit weeks ago." Signing up with these folks implies your acknowledgement that your money won't be refunded. The website supposedly allows users to update lists, but this didn't happen for me. I was able to get an update by phone -- and received a "list" with one outdated listing. I feel so *** for falling for this. This company preys on those who are desperately trying to find housing in the Nashville area's depressed housing market.

My husband an I at the time went to hometown rentals because we were referred by a friend who had just gotten their list and paid a fee to get a paper copy of listings. As soon as we left there we started going around looking at some of the houses on the list and EVERYONE not some but EVERYONE was already rented out!! We were furious we went back up to hometown rentals the next day and they refused to give us out money back but told us that we could get a new listing which was the SAME! Anything with hometown rentals name on it is a scam!

Very fishy. unprofessional rude website, info doesn't match. . .

I can't help but get a relieved feeling for not using this "service" I got a call from a blocked number which was odd enough telling me the price was $65, the website says $79, the website wasn't very professional looking and had a strange rudely stated comment along the lines of "we shouldn't have to hold your hand " Grammar and spelling were wrong, and other positive comments on THIS site sounded like they were regurgitated from the websites advertising. I love to help small businesses but this screams SCAM or INSUFFICIENT SERVICES. The representative who called himself "Heath Garrett" who seemed to forget his own name, said there was a money back guarantee but i could not find this on the site anywhere. So unless you feel like making a decent donation to the "Scammers Households Abroad" charity, I say: buyer's be ware. . .

This is in response to the "very fishy" Hometown Rentals complaint. I work for Hometown Rentals and have been doing so for several years.

We have helped hundreds of people find a home. The only people who have trouble finding a home are the ones that wait until the last minute to look for a home or they need a home with an unrealistic criteria. The price for Nashville clients is $69 and for Birmingham clients is $79.

The Birmingham office has a higher overhead to operate, which is why the cost is different. I would recommend our service to anyone wanting to take the headache out of searching for a rental home.

Hometown Rentals stole another guys database from TN and had to hide in AL. The only people that have worked there for that long is Stephanie or Heath.

Only like 5 people work there at a time. Please repent and know that you're scamming people. You've been doing in since 1997 according to Heath Garrett.

The story always changes. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

When you pay for Hometown Rentals services they tell you to call customer service or email daily whenever you need a new list. They do not automatically send out updates, reason being, they do not require clients to call when they have rented a home, so it would be a waste of time to email updates to every client, everyday, when they have already found a home. Most people know to call and ask for a manager if they are having problems with a service.

You all are liars. You believe in your own scam.

If you've worked there for several years you either have to be Heath or the girl in customer service named Stephanie. The total number of people that work there at any given time is less than 5! Get real jobs and stop scamming people in Alabama and Tennessee and no telling where else in America. You post old ads on craigslist and you run fake or terrible conditioned ads in local papers in TN and AL.

Your company has been scamming people since 1997 (the year Heath Garrett uses as the beginning of his timeline since he's been in business. The homes that appear on the list can be found elsewhere for free. The reason you charge the prices you do is because you're *** artists and got kicked out of Nashville. You stole another guys database.

People do read these kind of complaint sites, I feel sorry for the "bites" you get. Best advice is for people to avoid SCAM. No telling what really operates in your Birmingham office. Keep living off your lies.

BUYER BEWARE, THEY ARE ***-ARTIST!!! They help 1 in 100 of their clients who usually luck up.

NUMBERS DO NOT LIE, PEOPLE DO! They pay their BBB fee to look legit but really have nothing more for their clients than making a quick buck and giving you the run around!

HOMETOWN RENTALS IN MOBILE, AL. IS A SCAM

Hometown Rentals is a SCAM. They put ads on Mobile's craigslist that they have homes listed with NO CREDIT CHECKS and all the homes have credit checks and most of the homes had been rented for months and the landlords had never heard of Hometown Rentals. They are so rude. The people that work there do not know anything and all their say ads say how great they are. DO NOT use this SCAM of a company. All they do is take your money. They are not a Mobile company but they hide behide a Mobile phone and the BBB logo to make you think that they are a great company when in fact they are a SCAM. If they were honest they would not use that Mobile phone number. They took my money and did not help me at all. Stay away from this company. Use local companies. These people are a SCAM!

Hometown Rentals has been a very useful service for my family and myself over the past couple of years. We have had to relocate from Foley to Mobile and we have used there services twice. Both times we were successful in finding a home which fit our situation.

Hometown Rentals is a SCAM. I do not care how many people they get to write good reviews about them.

They were run out of Mobile 2 years ago. They are not in Mobile and they do not know anything about the city. All the landlords that I called said "they could not stand them and they did not want their homes on their listigs. They will never rip me off again.

All they do is say what a great company they are and make false statement in their postings. Total SCAM

Great service, found a home in a couple of weeks

I would recommend this service to anyone moving to the area. I found a landlord that had a fenced backyard and allowed my outside dogs and he worked with me on the deposit amount. They also worked with my bad credit situation. I looked on my own for a couple of weeks, but had no luck. I found out about their service through craigslist and registered the next day. I found a home in Gardendale a couple of weeks later, they had properties that I did not find anywhere else. Thanks, again to the staff and the service they offer!
