I contacted The Hitch House on two occasions recently as I have a 2011 American Coach Heritage motorhome for sale. I understand if a firm isn't interested in selling or buying a product.
HOWEVER, they didn't even have the decency to reply.
This shows me they have no integrity and their service after purchase would possibly the same. Just interested in the almighty dollar,2011 American Coach Heritage not a customer's interest.
- Zero integrity
Preferred solution: absolutely not
Incompetent Hitch House Service Staff
When our motorhome's living room slide out failed to retract in a campground on the north shore of Lake Superior, I called roadside assistance and had it manually retracted. 10 years ago we had good service from Hitch House, so I called them and made an appointment to have our slide out issue resolved.
I arrived at the 8 am appointment time and waited all day for the service tech to look at our coach. At the end of the day they still hadn't touched it, claiming they couldn't do anything unless they could locate a new slide motor. A week later they still hadn't located a slide motor, and when I asked them to just check the fuse, they said it would be another week before they could do that. I went down the road to Heidi's RV Service, where they diagnosed and fixed the problem with our slide, and had us back on the road in 2 hours.
Kudos to Heidi. Not so much to Hitch House!
Hitch House Maintenance Service Review from Cochrane, Ontario
We are really pissed off with the service provider at the Hitch House. We will never go back.
We never got what we asked for, but we got what they thought we needed, and a massive bill to go with it. Now, unfortunately, we cannot get the insurance coverage we needed. We have no generator now and for some reason we have no AC now. We went there for propane tank and line inspection.
Only got tank. And we told them we needed a transfer switch so the took apart the generator to test and make sure. We did get the transfer switch in the end and a valid appraisal and a valid propane tank inspection and was charged $1800. No line inspection.
We told them what part we needed for the AC and they took it apart anyway and charged us for it.
It's like they seen us coming and pushed to see how much they could soak us for.
Refused to Honour Warranty
We were lied to as to the black book value of the trailer we bought at the end of the season only to find out after the fact that we had paid $4,000 over black book value of that year, never mind the great discount offered to us. We were also assured however, that we would have a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase.
However, when the awning simply snapped in half the following year, not only did we have to pay $150 for them to inspect it but they refused to honour the warranty, stating that we must have snapped this heavy metal arm in half ourselves. They were not only rude but verbally abbusive and told us some very nasty things when we tried to simply get them to be logical about the circumstances. A HORRIBLE place to do business with. Very shady.
We also had leakage in the bathroom which they again blamed on us; (amazing how we made the roof leak); the fridge would pop open at all times and would no longer stay closed as the magnets must not have been strong enough. They blamed this on our putting too much in the fridge. seriously??? They said that they would order new magnets but it would cost us another $150 for them to do the work.
Stay away from this place.
Is it any wonder it burnt down? Many more honest places to be found.
Buyer Beware
Upon going to this dealer and being told they had the same pricing as the US, I learned they are deliberately over charging. On a $800K motorhome, they over charged $140K
After willing to pay $40K over US pricing, the dealer would not even reduce their price.
After buying the US they won't honor Monaco warranty or service the vehicle.
Even after the Monaco RV President Bill Osborne spoke with the owner, the guy acted like a spoiled child and refused to service some warranty work. A real class act.
I am fine with other service but hope others avoid this dealer.
Be careful!
HITCH HOUSE in Barrie! Sells garbage Used RVs
We bought a used RV from Hitch House in Barrie. They saftied it, and sent us on our way. We paid $90,000 for the 2001 Fleetwood Expedition.
Hitch House saftied it, and sent me, my husband and my 5 year old, and my 1 year old Quadruplets on our way to Florida.
We got there. By the time we did, there was coolant all over the engine.
We called Hitch House to ask what to do, they told us to put a radiator cap (new one) and it would be fine.
We got to Alabama, the engine overheated.... we found out, the fan belt fell off (because it was dry rotted), the radiator blew, the alternator was finished and had to be replaced, as did the govenor (it was aitbrake).
We lost 1 1/2 weeks of work at home, had to rent a hotel and car for 10 days... it was a literal nightmare, all because they didnt safty and inspect the vehicle. They are refunding us only the radiator. We had 30 days warranty, and of that 30 days, they had the RV for a week back in the repair shop... we are calling our lawyer and suing.
Never buy a used RV from them. New, Im sure its fine. But never get your RV fixed there. They have an incompetent service dept, and never ever buy a used RV from them. They make them look really pretty, but underneath, they're rusted out buckets of $100,000 junk!

Dear Lonnie, We are sorry that we disappointed you. On behalf of the management and staff of The Hitch House I apologize that we did not get back to you regarding your coach.
Feedback such as this does help us to make improvements. I have discussed your situation with our Inventory Manager as he is responsible for all of our new and used motorhome purchases. He does have some very specific information on a 2011 American Heritage and he did have a conversation with the seller on or about January 25, 2020 but he did not have their name recorded as Lonnie. It is possible to have two individuals attempting to sell the same make, model and year of coach.
Did you happen to speak with a member of our staff regarding the sale of your motorhome and therefore were you expecting further follow up? Did you call in and leave messages with reception but had no contact with our Inventory Manager? Any further information you can provide that will help us determine where we went wrong would be greatly appreciated. If you would prefer to discuss your experiences with me directly then please call me (Tom Stoate, President) toll free at 1-87*-***-**** or email me at tstoate@***.com.
Once again, I am sorry that we disappointed you.
I wish you all the best with your motorhome selling experience. Kindest regards, Tom Stoate President
