Inquiring as to WHY Hill's does not offer kit treats to felines with sensitive food issues
I have two 8 year old feral kits (siblings Jasper and Jasmine) that I rescued from an abandoned building. People were dropping dry cat food on the ground outside the building for this feral cat community.
Seeing Jasper and Jasmine trying to eat dry cat food when they were maybe 3 weeks old was heartwrenching. Me and my BFF worked for over an hour trying to coax them towards us with a can of moist dog food. Once we grabbed them, they both immediately starting purring. Yes, they were wild but I think they felt our kindness and knew we wanted to help them.
We brought them home and immediately gave both baths as they were riddled with fleas. This was on a Thursday, they were so tiny. I called our vet the next morning and was able to secure an appointment on Saturday. The vet drew blood to check for any diseases, ie., feline lukemia.
They both checked out okay with the exception Jasper had liver issues. They put him on special meds for almost a year checking him periodically. His liver condition improved however in running further tests they found he has allergy issues and has been on your special ZD kit food since he turned one year old. He enjoys his food and eats well.
I have to put him in his pet caddy to eat so other kits can have normal kit food. He has occasionally snuck around and ate others' food that I failed to pick up before he got to it. When this happens he breaks out all over his head and neck. He scratches and claws til his skin is bleeding and all hair is gone.
When this happens and he gets ahold of other kit food or even dog or human food he's usually sick for three or four weeks. I have to take him to the vet, they give him a shot and then on special med for two - three weeks until all is out of his system. Once his system is clear, his hair starts growing back and back to his normal self. We love our Jasper kit.
Each time I go to the vet to pick up his special ZD dry and canned food I always ask about why Science Diet doesn't offer a special treat for kit with food alergies.
We give our pups and other kits treats all time but poor Jasper is left out because he can't have them. He usually gets his normal canned ZD or a bit dry just to passify him.
Can Science Diet PLEEZ think about coming up with a treat for my Jasper kit.

Ripping off customers
One of my dog has been on Hills "prescription" food for a couple of years. A small bag of food used to last me well over a month, almost 2 months.
Not only do they keep raising the price, but now have much less weight... the same bag of food costs more but barely last me 30 days now. My most recent order was unexpectedly cancelled last minute and when I called I was told they were out of the small bags (not sure how this is even possible). So now I'm paying more money to have a much, much larger bag shipped.
And, I'm going to run out of food before the new bag arrives!! I have another dog that my vet also recommended the same prescription diet but he is much larger and I cannot afford this over priced food. I do not see anything "prescription" or even healthy food listed in the ingredients, so why it's so expensive? I have since found a pretty much identical food that does not require vet "prescription", is affordable, and has healthier ingredients.
It has been working for my larger dog and confident it will work for my other dog as well. Seems like vets are quick to push prescription diets and then companies like Hill's take advantage of it, just my opinion.

I/d canned food
I noticed that the canned low fat i/d is a different color than normal. So I called to find out why.
I wasn't sure if I possibly had a bad can. The girl I spoke with assured me that everything is fine, that biome has now been added to the food, and it makes it appear darker.

It the original lowfat i/d clinical with the picture of a white and black Border Collie on the can of dogfood the lid you have to use a electrical can opener their food has to be solid not gravy or mushy...
There another original lowfat i/d with a picture of a gray dog on the can they can get by with that one but the clical one is better

My 11year old cat has become diabetic. The cost for his prescription food would be $350.00 per month in Canadian dollars.
As a low income senior thats is totally out of my budget. I am wondering if you have a program to help persons such as myself to afford to feed my pet.

Hills prescription diabetic dog food has increased too much
my dog diagnosed 3 months ago initial vet costs enormous then go to buy food doubled in price vets says its hills increase hills say its vets who is lying Ye are killing our diabetic dogs slowly as most of us cannot afford these prices do ye not have enough money.
I live in b.c and truly feel gouged for money every way i turn with having a diabetic dog it is not fair on the animals

Your dog food has been very dry and crumbly,have to add water or beef stock to make it more moist. It sure makes a mess on the floor.

Poor customer relations
For many months now I have been trying to purchase Hills rd canned dog food without any success. When I contacted Hills by phone they said due to the pandemic the delivery is delayed.
I have been told by your customer service that the product has not been discontinued. I believe your company is not being truthful so I would appreciate a straight answer.
Preferred solution: A truthful answer If I need to find a substitute for Hills rd canned dog food. I am down to my last case.

I believe that Hill's statement that they have supply issues is correct. That said, Hill's management has been less than forthright.
Consumers need prescription diet products. At the very least, the company ought to know when they will resume manufacturing certain products. After all, it's their job. The people who run these companies make a lot of money; much more than ordinary people do.
When you call Chewy and ask about a Hill's products, the Chewy computer instructs its customer services representatives to "suggest alternatives". My cat needs hydrolyzed protein (plus renal support). There are no manufactured alternatives. Let's face it: companies like Hills and Royal Canin just don't care about us or our pets.
What do they care about? 1) Corporate profits and 2) Officer's salaries. How do they deal with consumer problems?
With public relations press releases, e.g. "we care about you and your pet" and "our entire company is committed to the health of your pet." If your pet dies because it cannot get the Rx food it needs, then it's no skin off their noses.
