Please refund the fee you charged to my AmEx account on March 22.

Original review Mar 25, 2024

Your firm put through a renewal on my American Express account on Friday, March 22. I wanted this subscription cancelled immediately.

I've tried to contact your firm via telephone with no direct phone access available at the number on my AmEx statement. Please call or e-mail me with a refund amount, specifically for the amount charged on last Friday. Charles B.

Pros:
  • I liked the software
Cons:
  • Hard to reach customer service

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Provide an operational phone number so that customer service can be reached in an efficient manner. The phone number provided to AmEx for billing issues does not offer an effective venue for communicating customer needs/concerns.

I feel deceived

This company has been charging me $50/mo, billed to a card managed by my parents, where I don't see the charges. I was only alerted when my mother died and my father took over taking care of the bill.

I used this service ONCE in 2016, but they continued to charge me. NEVER did I receive emails stating I was being charged, nor any about their name change/s even tho the account is under my name and email. Super, super shady. I was literally charged over $3500 in six years of sneaky billing.

I am reporting to BBB and FTC.

Zero stars across the board. Avoid at all costs.

Signed up initially to "You send it" Had no problem with this business. Then it was sold.

They changed their name to Hightail, used it once. Sent email to cancel subscription, they sent back another email confirming request. These scammers are still deducting money out of my account even after cancelling my subscriptions.

Will not respond to refund

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had been using Hightail from before it changed its name from YouSendIt. Last year I no longer needed their services and cancelled their service.

Yesterday, August 21, 2017, I discovered they had been paid for a year's renewal through Paypal automatic payments. My fault for not remembering I had them on auto pay and canceling that as well. But two requests yesterday for a refund have gone unanswered and I have sent a third request today. I am therefore telling my tale in every consumer complaint web site (and will also complain to the BBB).

Their service was fine for what it did, but I no longer had a need for it, having switched to Gmail where I can send files too large to send as email attachments. Gmail uploads the files to Google Drive and then includes a link in the email for the recipient to view and download the file - at no cost to me.

Moral of the story: If you have Hightail (or any service) on auto payment, make sure you stop that when you cancel their service. And use Gmail/Google Drive instead of Hightail.

Hightail are holding onto to third party emails and spamming them

Hightail is a service which requires you to sign up to recieve a file from someone. Yes you have to actually set up an account to get the file someone is trying to send you.

So Hightail is phishing for all your details and password in order to do this simple function. Ofcourse I declined and never gave them any of my details.

However Hightail are now emailing me with marketing info telling me that I am signed up with them. This means they kept the email address of mine which someone else used in trying to send me a file and now without my every giving them permission they are treating my email as their property and abusing me by spamming me.

How dare they.

Dodgy service - avoid!!!! If they keep emailing me I will be reporting this to the police.

Hightail.com

The company has recently updated the interface. i noticed two things about it.

They removed two essential things. 1 is your contacts list. You now have to type in the email address you want to send the files two (unnecessary hassle) and 2 and MOST IMPORTANT. I can't see where to unsubscribe from the service.

I'm thinking a lawyer needs to look at hightail.com policy and perhaps file a complaint at the least. I would not recommend signing up for this service.

Don't subscribe to Hightail!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I subscribed to Hightail for large file uploads to be easily transferred to friends and clients. It wasn't a stable system and I had a lot of problems, so I canceled my subscription.

MONTHS after I canceled, my account still gets charged, seemingly at random. It's impossible to get a hold of anyone on their customer service line. You are put on hold for 5-10 minutes, then forced into a voice mail system. Never not once has anyone called me back.

I finally got someone to correspond with me via email. Over the months, I've wrestled with them and gotten my credits. Two weeks ago they hit my account again. I complained, they said a credit would be given, and today there's ANOTHER charge on my account.

I was finally forced to close my account to stop this nonsense. I'm still waiting on my credits...

There is something wrong with this company. They are COMPLETELY UNETHICAL.

I have contacted them 3 different times over the last few years, complaining of unauthorized charges to my VISA. Each time, I was assured that they would close my account and refund the charges. But eventually, the charges would reappear on my credit card bill - every single month. I just trying calling them again and had to resort to Live Chat.

The guy claimed I still had an account, offered to close it and refund only ONE MONTH (after a year+ of charges) and said he would "escalate it" to his supervisor. I am ready to escalate it to the Better Business Bureau!
