Highland Farms

The post I read about the owner of highland farms from Waxhaw comes as no surprize to me , he has a policy of routinely firing employees at his stores over trivial complaints lodged by some idiotic customers. he is arrogant ' and treats employees like dirt.

I suppose this is not all that uncommon when dealing with someone who has vast amounts of money and feels he is beyond anyone else , seeing others as cattle and he the sheppard.

This kind of man is exactly why there are Unions.

I don't deny his right to dicipline employees but firings for what amounts to nonsense or a cronic complainer is rediculous.

I have been in the horse business for most of my life and never before have I encountered someone as unprofessional and quite possibly as utterly insane as the man who runs/owns Highland Farms. Kirk not only believes he is God's gift to horses, but he apparently also believes he can treat anyone and everyone however he feels with absolutely no repercussions.

I have, on no less than three occasions, witnessed him screaming at the top of his lungs at various students. I have also seen him treat his barn manager (former manager?) in such a manner. He is rude, he belittles anyone and everyone, and he makes threats against them, their families, as well as their horses supposedly in his 'care'.

His most recent infraction - the one that led to me deciding to write this - was his threatening, harassing, and abusive behavior toward a fifteen-year-old client. He has contacted her 24/7, despite the police telling him not to do so. He has told her parents to GTFO out of his barn as they are not involved in this and it is between him and their child. He has called her every name you can imagine and continues to do so, even going so far as to state he hopes nothing happens to her horses (who are now at a neighbor's house until such time she can take them to their new home) since they are no longer under his protection while leaving the insinuation hanging that he may very well be the one to cause them harm.

I believe it quite possible, too, as I witnessed him whip a horse to the point that the animal had marks alongside its flanks - and the horse certainly did nothing to deserve such a thing.

This is in no way an extensive list but are simply some things I, personally, have witnessed. He is a liar, a cheat, and he is only interested in how to *** those he meets out of money... and has even told the owner of his property that she needed to stay out of his business and get 'out of his barn'! His audacity never fails to astonish, I assure you.

Beware of this man and his unethical practices!!! He will seem very professional until you are a client and then his true colors show and he will bully you and verbally attack you should you decide to leave. DO. NOT. TRUST. HIM.
