Hewlett Packard - The tech person had me send pictures and then disconnected

5-month-old 7975 All in on printer. I put new ink in (H/P ink) the color was bad and it skipped.

I have to admit at 1st I put the old ink back in.

I was sending pictures back to tech, reversed to the new ink, and continued to follow the tech's directions. H/P had my contract info and when I was disconnected, no callback.

User's recommendation: At time of purchase, make sure that a good Cs number is available, not a number in India!

I used chat to get an answer about my...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Remote session claimed a Trojan and urged a $300 antivirus plan.
  • - Two hours later, no email and the card was charged despite dishonesty reports.

I used chat to get an answer about my hp8120 email and how to find it. I was sent to a live person, by chat, who called me and said he would help me to do this.

It was 3:15 PM July 20. After he was in my computer virtually, he said I had a Trojan virus. This is a brand new computer and printer; he insisted that I was infected and would work on configuring my computer and printer so that it would be email accessible. He then worked on it for almost an hour, and I had no idea what he was doing to it.

Then he told me I had to buy a $300 virus protection plan so they could clean my computer and then I could get the email address. I started to get suspicious. He then connected me to a Mark Gibson at another number to have him work on the system as well. This person also would take my payment for the virus protection from a company I had never heard of.

Again, I was told that I could not connect to the printer by email to send things to print from anywhere. I gave him the credit card number, and instantly my credit card company messaged me and told me they were not accepting this charge as this company has been reported by many other customers as not being truthful. I was now on the computer two hours total, and nothing was resolved as far as an email address. I texted this Mark Gibson to let him know that the charge was not accepted due to several others reporting to this credit card company about the security company.

I also let him know I had to get off to go to work, and he said he would call me back tomorrow. I do not intend to allow computer access after experiencing the above.

I still don't know how to find the email to the printer, which was the original reason for calling. What was this all about?

Pros:
  • Love the product
Cons:
  • Not trustworthy

Preferred solution: I would like to know how or why an HP chat would send me to an company to repair my computer that tried to scare me

User's recommendation: Make sure you are really being connected to HP

your first mistake was allowing them to remain on your computer first thing is email and printer have nothing to do a virus or anything else so what the first one did for an hour is very suspicious mcafee is usually the default anitvirus that comes with hp computers/laptops generally its a one year term you should have already the hp assist program if so run the check operating system test theres also a troubleshooting feature

I bought an HP Deskjet 2755e printer a...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - HP Deskjet 2755e is hard to use and won't connect to wifi; the app shows network not supported and the printer was unused and boxed, unreturnable.

I bought an HP Deskjet 2755e printer a few years ago, and unfortunately, I was unable to actually attempt to use it until recently. I recently bought an HP laptop, and I love it, but this printer is not very user-friendly (I'm not the most tech-savvy person around, but I'm definitely not the least), and it will not connect to my home Wi-Fi, so it is ultimately useless.

Whenever I attempt to connect the Wi-Fi through the HP app on my laptop or my iPhone, I keep getting the message that my network is not supported, so I am stuck. I wish I had never purchased this piece of crap. It was definitely a waste of good money.

Unfortunately, I have had this printer too long to send it back, even though I have never used it, and it was still in the box until tonight.

Your printer has an older wireless card set to connect to WPA-2 protocols. Current networks are WPA-3.

You need to access protocols in your router’s wireless settings and address this. Had you been using the printer at purchase, your router’s settings would have self-adjusted as WPA-3 became standard.

HP Refuses to help reset a laptop BIOS password.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - HP previously provided BIOS password reset SMC.bin.
  • - Now a new motherboard is required for a working laptop, and the rep yelled during the call.

HP has previously provided a BIOS password reset SMC.bin to other consumers. They have now changed their policy to make that impossible and instead require you to get a new motherboard for a fully functional laptop.

This creates more e-waste for a stupid policy that they arbitrarily enforce. When I called them to ask why they started enforcing this policy, their representative started yelling at me over the phone.

Preferred solution: A BIOS SMC.bin reset or a new mainboard

User's recommendation: Do not buy HP laptops if you do not know for sure that they are not BIOS locked and that if you lock it, remember your password because you will not be able to unlock it if you do not.

Lack of printer ink

I have been paying monthly printer ink subscriptions for more than 2 years and have not received any ink. Until I complained, I got only a black cartridge and am still waiting for a colour cartridge. If I do not get one, I will cancel my subscription.

Refused to help connect a printer because they consider it obsolete

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Jul 02, 2026

Do not purchase HP products! They won’t stand behind their products

Original review Jun 17, 2026
I have to share this to warn other potential consumers that if they buy a HP product, it may not be supported, even though it is fully functional. I have a home printer HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M29W model that, in spite of the fact that it was fully functional before I had switched internet providers, was refused help to reconnect this unit to my Wi-Fi.

It is approximately 5 years old and was functioning perfectly up to the provider switch. The representative outright refused to assist me with the reconnect due to the fact that HP considers this unit to be obsolete. In other words, buy another! Just another otherwise functional product to add to our landfills.

Further, there are no on line resources where they will actually give you information on how to resolve this issue, despite assurances to the contrary. I spent hours trying to do this including contacting my new service provider as well as Apple Tech support. They, too, were unable to find any useful information on this issue.

So, not only did HP outright refuse to help, but also prevented a user from being able to resolve the issue themselves. If and when I am forced to go out and buy another printer, you can be sure it will not be an HP product!
Pros:
  • Units work
Cons:
  • Very difficult to get consumer help online

Preferred solution: I would like to get my printer reconnected. They are purposely withholding the information that I need to do so and they also have no resources that would allow you to do it yourself.

User's recommendation: Do not buy HP products as they are NOT customer friendly!

Your product SUCKS!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Scanner requires login to scan via cloud service.
  • - Scanning worked yesterday but not today.
  • - Cannot disable login; cloud service is required.
Hewlett Packard - Your product SUCKS!

I bought a printer/scanner and can't scan because your stupid application wants a login and password to scan. I could scan yesterday, but now not today.

I can't disable the login feature, and I have to run your stupid cloud-based crap.

I've spent over an hour trying to navigate this crap and gotten nowhere. Your stupid, stupid, stupid AI was a waste of my time.

User's recommendation: Don't buy anything HP!!!! Waste of freggin time & money.

Change my email and phone number and can’t get my HP printer to work. I also am paying money every month which is taken out of my checking account for ink. I don’t know how to reach anyone by phone.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Cannot reach a human; can't update email or phone, and the auto deduction continues.
  • - Two HP printers are unusable; I'll give them away.

This would be a great company if you could talk to a human being. I have my automatic deduction coming out for my ink, unable to change my email and phone number.

I thought I did, but apparently I didn't. I keep getting the runaround. I have two printers here, HP printers that are, and can't use either one of them, so I'm just going to give them away. I will never get an HP printer before.

I've never had this problem before. Whatever you do, don't call the first HP phone number that comes up on Google because I don't believe they're really HP. They got into my computer. I thought they were gonna help me, but I don't believe they were from HP.

They didn't help me with what I needed, so that's how I know. They just wanted to tell me that someone's hacked into my computer and Wi-Fi, so guard yourself. It’s better than talking to a bot to get another brand.

I'd rather buy my own ink now. I have to put a stop on my debit card.

User's recommendation: what can I say?

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POOR PRODUCT

AI Highlights
  • - HP printers fail after about 6 months and service is lacking.
  • - The HP Ink Program is a joke.
  • - I won't recommend HP products; stay away.

We have been using HP printers for years, the last four or so printers not lasting for any longer than about 6 months and starting to have problems and customer service, or the lack of service or caring that they fix your problem. The HP ink program is a joke now.

I will not be telling anyone to purchase HP products anymore.

I will tell everyone to stay away from HP products.
