Heritage Tractor - I have been experiencing every terrible...
Updated by user Apr 13, 2026

In my 75 years, I have experienced no company with worse customer service, and the locations claim none have "managers," or if there are, they must be as worthless as the incompetent employees. They are some of the most renegade employees, and I wonder how such a shabby bunch can be employed except that they are peas in a pod. The very worst operation I have experienced, and after some research I discovered the Heritage Tractor is as good as any modern-day scam going on these days of scam artists.

Original review Apr 12, 2026
I have been experiencing every terrible example of Heritage Tractor, Harrison, AR, and Rogersville, MO, for over 3 years now, and nothing has ever been resolved except repeated trips to Rogersville and back and endless charges. My John Deere 3032E has been at Heritage Tractor longer than my property in Harrison, AR.

This past month, my 3032E has been in Rogersville for exactly 30 days due to a recurring 'STOP' warning on the dashboard, and it was returned on Friday, April 10th, 2026. When it went to Rogersville, the red 'STOP' light was on, and the new service manager affirmed they had only seen the 'STOP' once and could not get it again. They returned it, and when I got home from the VA, the tractor was sitting in the middle of our entry driveway as I asked the delivery driver to do. I went to the house to get the key to the tractor.

When I sat on the tractor to start, I discovered the ignition switch was destroyed. The key would fall out of the ignition. I called the delivery driver and asked if it started when he brought it to my house. He said yes, and when he got to my house, it would not start, and he called Rogersville and asked what he should do, and he said he was told by the Rogersville service manager he checked the battery, and it read 12.9 volts.

Rogersville told him to 'just unload it,' and that is where I found it.

We met the delivery truck leaving our road as we were returning home. I have over 20 pages of the encounters I have experienced between Heritage Tractor, Harrison, AR, and Heritage, MO.

Horrible Communication/ Backdoor deal canceled my signed purchase order

AI Highlights
  • - Signed purchase order on 3/9; no delivery updates.
  • - Another salesman took money down on the same tractor before paperwork; it was unavailable.
Original review updated Mar 31, 2022

I found a 1025R at their Lockwood store, stopped at Topeka store to see about buying it. I signed the purchase order on 3/9, Trey said it would be in Topeka in a week or two.

He never once called to let me know the status, I called several times, he always said he would find out when it would be there and let me know, he never did. On 3/24 Trey said it was at their Nevada store, I called on 3/26, a Saturday morning to see where it was. A guy there told me it was at Baldwin City and it should be in Topeka Monday or Tuesday. On Monday Trey said it should be there by mid week.

Of course he never called, I called him the morning of 3/31, he said it was in Lawrence. I told him I'd just go there and pick it up, he was going to make a call and make sure everything was good to go and let me know. Once again he never called me back, I grabbed a trailer and headed to Lawrence, I called him about 15 miles from Lawrence to let him know I was about there. Low and behold he said there's a problem, another salesman at the Lawrence store had taken some money down on the same tractor prior to me signing a purchase order, but the salesman had never done any paperwork on it.

He told me the tractor wasn't available to me even though the other salesman had no paperwork. So they'd strung me along for over 3 weeks saying it was on its way, when I'm en route to pick it up all of a sudden this tractor wasn't available to me?? Un fricking real!! So I blew my top, said a few things I can't repeat then hung up on him.

Maybe it was my salesman, maybe its how they operate in general but they lost a cash customer and I'm seriously considering another brand beside Deere. I just get pissed every time I see green now.

User's recommendation: In writing doesn't mean anything, save yourself a headache, there's more than one deere dealer

Over Charge for Service

AI Highlights
  • - Heritage in Joplin installed belt morning for $70.
  • - Labor cost was $362.50; total $432.50.
  • - Price said to be half off; customer felt taken.

I threw a transmission engagement belt for a Zero-Turn JD Mower. Called Heritage in Joplin, they had it the next morning.

Paid the $70 for the belt and asked if they would install it, thinking I could run an errand and come get it. After unloading it, immediately upon my dropping the trailer gate, I asked when I could expect it. He said a week. If not such a pain to push back on trailer, I would have ended my nightmare then and there.

However, I thought I would call the following day and ask prices and have some other work done while out of commission. To my shock, I awoke to a message informing me the mower was ready for pick-up. I scanned the invoice to see the damage and almost stroked out.

The bill for labor only, relative to installing the belt to engage the transmission, was $362.50. Remind you, I paid $70 cash the previous day for the belt that was put on the mower, bringing this relatively common task's grand total to a gut-wrenching, $432.50.

When I contacted the service department the gentleman informed me, in what I perceived to be a shameful tone, that likely he was all too often forced to address stunned customerswith, after they have seen the cost of their work, this price was discounted at half the cost, recommended by the book for the labor.

Though I know I am responsible for not demanding the cost beforehand, I remain very disappointed to be taken advantage of by a company made iconic from the loyalty and sweat of hard working Americans.

Pros:

  • Customer service
  • Pricing

Rip you off and admit it

AI Highlights
  • - Charged $46 to replace a single sickle section; they won't adjust the bill.
  • - Use a John Deere dealer not owned by Heritage Tractor to save money.

Took my draper header there for repairs . They charged $46 to change a sickle section on a cutter bar. This is ridiculous for removing two bolts. it is a 2 minute at best job for one section.

25 of them for $1147.00 or $2294 per hour. i am sure this has happened to many customers before me. hey will not adjust the bill.

They said you authorized it and now you owe us

The service manager is a liar and this reflects on the whole company.

If you have ever had service work done there I am sure that ripped you off also. So take your business to the nearest John Deere dealer that is not owned by Heritage Tractor and save some money.

Heritage Tractor Riding Mower Repair Review from Shadeland, Indiana

AI Highlights
  • - Mower stayed a week; blades fine but battery needed.
  • - Bill was $300; quoted belt $115 and $45 battery; fuel line added; refund refused; engine shot.

Had John Deere in Olathe, Ks pickup my riding mower to put new belt on and sharpen blades. They had mower 1 full week then called and said blades were good but needs new battery so i authorized.

Bill was $300 and i questioned since i was quoted $115 to put belt on and $45 for battery. They said it needed new fuel line which was 1st i knew about but went ahead and paid. Went out to start up mower and it was smoking and wouldnt run when blade engaged. Called john deere to pick back up and they said engine was shot.

They refused to refund money for service done plus it was running perfectly fine when they pucked it up and evidentally while they put belt & battery on but not running when they delivered it back to me.

Their service mge was rude and beligerant. Will never do any business regarding service or purchase with zjohn deere again
