Rheem - Total lemon
by GhastlyRaven853 #16106511.0
Replaced old AC with a new 5 ton Rheem heat pump for the whole house. Since installation in December 2015 we have needed to replace the defrost solenoid and the reversing valve 2x's.
Replaced the freon each time the reversing valve needed to be replaced. Our HVAC service company is now recommending the replacement of the outside unit at several thousand dollars. We paid almost $9000. less than 4 years ago and countless repairs.
Stay away from Rheem. A lot of good the warranty does, they only paid for the reversing valve once and that did not include labor.
Nothing reimbursed for the freon or later parts and labor. A total waste of money. Stay away.

Goodman Manufacturing - Avoid at all costs
by UnluckyCaiman868 #15987351.0
Three defective coils later and still no help from Goodman. How is it the homeowners responsibility to register a unit within 60 days of installation if a home is built and put on the market by a developer over one year prior to your purchase of the new home?? It is a shame the federal courts allowed the Class Action Lawsuit against Goodman to be dismissed when so many Americans have been effected by their deceptive, defective and unscrupulous manufacturing.
Bryant - Two years of constant headaches.
by PissedConsumer1626720 #16267201.4
First summer after March 2017 install constant shutdowns in 90-100 plus degree weather. Replaced circuit board—didn’t help.
After much complaining Bryant agreed to replace compressor a year later but I had to pay for the install! Problems continue.
Now I’m getting two new shutdown codes. Again without AC summmer of 2019!!!
18 Waterfurnace units. Everyone is or has been broke down repeatedly

Boards go out right and left. Pumps go out right and left..
Compressors go out right and left.
Service techs have no earthly clue how to work on these. Buyer beware.
Sears and Carrier both suck
by BronzeNewt611 #16107671.0
Sears installed a Carrier system in 2005. The compressor went out about 4 years later.
I had sears come out and fix the system. They installed a new compressor. At the time Carrier had a recall on this system and recommended replacing the system and they offered an rebate on this. The sears service man said nothing about this and replaced the compressor.
This is not what carrier recommended.
The compressor has gone out again and this could have been avoided if sears had told me of the defect in this Carrier system. I will never deal with Sears again and I will never buy another carrier system.
