Verified ReviewerGreat build... horrible customer service! Run away from this company!
The person who built my shed was excellent. He was called in at the last minute because the previous installer called in sick the day my shed was supposed to be built.
I paid for the deluxe package, which included caulking and painting. My installer told me that he can only build the shed because he has another job to run to and the company would have to get back to me to send a painter. I have been told multiple times by the office that they have no idea when or who is going to paint my shed. How the heck does a company not know when they have people available?
The customer service rep was awful at customer service and never, not once, apologized for my inconvenience or for not knowing when my shed is going to get painted. She basically told me I have to just sit back and way. It's October!! Do I have to wait until winter to get this shed painted??
Absolutely absurd. Run away from this company as fast as you landed on their website.
- Built the shed quickly

Verified ReviewerTerrible Experience with Heartland Shed
I had ordered and paid for our $5700 shed on June 6th, and was promised installation in 2 to 4 weeks. They came back a few days later with an installation date of mid July, six weeks out from when it was bought and paid for.
I explained a big part of going with them was having a shed installed in 2 to 4 weeks, because we were going to be gone for several weeks. After pushing hard, we were able to get a date of July 10, still outside of the initial 2 to 4 weeks promised, but we could make it work. The morning of July 10 they sent a message, saying the truck broke down, and could now install in early August, the 4th. I dont think they ever truly planned to make the July 10 date.
After asking for some compensation for the inconvenience, they said they could not do anything until after the shed was installed. We had been going back-and-forth for a couple of weeks, but when we finally decided to move ahead and stay with them for August 4, they needed to double check that date again, and we didnt hear back at all. After several days, since the date was approaching in a few days, we finally decided just to cancel the entire order. Which now they did, finally, maybe realizing how terrible they handled this with us, maybe.
Tuff Shed installed in less than a week with great service, quality and follow up. Definitely worth paying a little more.
Use Heartland at your own risk. Seriously.
Preferred solution: Already refunded after terrible experience.

Verified Reviewer |Refund not received
We purchased a 12x16 Estate shed, at time of purchase, you have to pick any upgrades you want. Weve never done this before so we had gotten the Pro-grade flooring system for an extra $379.00 ( tax not included in price).
Ken ( he told us he was owner) came out to our home to check concrete slab, as it was not exactly 12x16 and they wanted to be sure there was not going to be any install issues. Ken said concrete was good, but since we had the concrete slab, if we did have the upgraded flooring installed it would raise the shed even more and it would make getting lawnmowers and snowblowers out more difficult. He said he could give us a refund on that since it really wasnt necessary. He also said that getting refund from him was easier than getting it from Lowes.
Great, we thought! We said give us a refund, we wouldnt do the upgraded flooring system. So my husband waits for credit card bill and we still have not received our credit. Husband calls and they said they would get it done for next billing cycle.
Next billing cycle comes, no refund, husband waits another cycle just in case it was missed. Credit not there. Husband called and was told they hadnt been able to give us our credit as they used Mike ( husbands name) instead of Michael and credit wouldnt go through. Really???
So they then said they would send us a check and its been more than 2 months and we still havent received our refund for the flooring system. Ill try to include a picture showing that shed is in fact on concrete and not on flooring system.

Verified Reviewer |Bizarre interaction
Purchased the shed online, installer called to set up, soonest date was 3 months+/- out, which was fine so I scheduled. 3 months go by and they call a few days out to verify the time and give details on what to expect/prepare.
Everything is good so far! The day before the install, they call and say the installers grandma died and they would not be out after all and would instead come the following day. That day comes and installer is a no show. I call and they say I was wrong and that the installer is coming the next dayok, maybe I misunderstood, no worries.
Finally day 1, installer comes, and he brings along two ladies in pajama pants and another gentlemen/sidekick.
They work for a few hours but make little progress, they pretty just framed the base/floor. Installer says his air compress is too old and he needs to buy a new one and that is what is causing the trouble. He will be back tomorrow.
Day 2. They show up again, work for an hour and have to leave again because now his nail gun broke.
Day 3.
No showbut then Sidekick guy shows up parks his car in my backyard just before dark? Proceeds to sit there in the pitch dark for several hoursmy wife gets freaked out so I call installer to ask what is going on? He says that he is on his way and that the sidekick is waiting for himsure enough8 pm, pitch dark, freezing rain, 30 degree weather, they start framing it up in the light of the headlights. I get home at 10 pm and tell them to stop, I have kids and neighbors who are trying to sleep, and that I want it done correctly, so I would prefer it be done in the daylight, they leave.
Day 4 no show.
Day 5 installer comes back by himself and makes a lot of progress but when I inspect the work and question why it is looking so bad, he admits this is his 1st install and that heartland did not get him everything he needs and that a few of the pieces would be shipped in a few weeks.
I am starting to get nervous
Day 6 installer show up with brand new tools. And puts them in the shed but does no work. And that is the last time I see him. He never comes back to work on it.
I am told the original installer was fired and they will still send somebody good to finish it. They never show up to finish it. For the next month I get dragged along with, well have somebody better come out to finish, just a few more days, those days pass, I get the same excuses, we need just a few more days, we will make it right. There is over $1,500 worth of brand new tools, tags still on, in this unsecured/unfinished shed.
I move them into my house to make sure they dont get stolen.
A few days later I see on my security camera I see the fired installer enter my property uninvited and goes to the shed to get the tools, he is visibly upset and pounds on my door. He comes back again a few hours later and pounds again. Luckily I was not home, but is very angry, and intimidating, he sends me a text telling me he needs those tools or they will take it out of his check. I tell him I will gladly give them to a new installer when they send one out since I was told he is no longer employed there and to not come on my property again.
It has been a month, super frustrating I have lost sleep, been stressed, embarrassed by having a half built shed that the neighbors are all talking about.
So I call corporate for the 4th-5th time and demand to talk to a regional supervisor, they again refuse, to let me talk to a manager.
So this time I have had enough and say this is ridiculous I want my money backthe customer service rep instantly says sure, no problem, I will process that right now!whatreally, you have strung me along for all these weeks and now you are just going to give me $4,500 back that easy? Yes Sir, well have the installer send somebody out to dispose of the shed. Sure enough, a few weeks later, they send somebody out to trash it and take it away! I gave them their tools that I had kept safe and they sent me my money a few weeks later.
What a Gigantic waste of time and money, they literally just demolished this shed and took it away and never once said sorry for the inconvenience, no compensation for tearing up my yard, the nails and debris, cigarette butts strung about, nothing, just so nonchalant about it, like I was the bad guy and they were the victim!
The shed was 80% finished, they could have had the guy who demolished it just finish it in a few hours!
So weird. Such a waste of resources. Oh and the guy that took did the demo/removal said they didnt fire they original installer, and that he is still learning on the job.
So bizarre. Never again.
- Finally gave me my money back
- Caused stress
- Wasted weeks of my life
- Left a mess

Verified Reviewer |No customer service resources to handle issues
After ordering the shed, I was asked to confirm the trim color and materials for the roof of the shed numerous times over text and email, but when the shed was finally built, the contractor did not have the proper materials for the trim. It's clear Heartland contracts the builders and doesn't have a very good vetting process for the person building your shed.
The day our shed was scheduled to be built, the contractor arrived at 5pm and could only load the materials into our backyard. It took three days for the contractor and one other person (likely not a builder) to assemble the shed. They left trash and leftover materials all over our yard, and of course, they didn't properly finish the trim. We tried multiple customer service numbers and emails, and were sent around in circles for a few weeks.
Finally, I just hired a handyman to fix all the issues with the installation, costing us an additional $450. The company does not have the customer service infrastructure to handle installation-related issues.
Also, the lock on the door does not work, so we had to install our own. Based on our experience, I would not recommend purchasing a shed from this company.
- Lots of installation issues
- Non-existent customer service

Lowes delivered the shed per agreement. We opened the shed kit and the first thing we ran into was the floor kit was wrong.
The floor kit was 10ft X 10ft. but they sent 8ft 2X4s + 2 ft 2X4 extensions to equal 10ft. The instructions had it mounted sideways across the 4X4s which would put the 2ft extensions on the side unsupported by the 4X4s.Also in the instructions was directions on how to build your own floor kit and it stated to use 10ft 4X4's and not the 8ft + 2ft. ext.
that they sent me. It was probably cheaper to keep the kit under 8ft for cost reasons. Luckily, my friend who was helping me is a carpenter and he told me he could make it work using my 2 10ft 2X4's I bought for the loft but we would have to run the floor the opposite direction than in the directions and it would support all 4 load bearing walls.
The rest of the kit was below average quality especially the manufactured walls. The sent mostly nails instead of screws which would have made it more secure.

Verified ReviewerShoddy workmanship and terrible customer service
We purchase a Heartland Shed on Sept 28, 2021 for a total of $5344.45.
We originally had an install date of end of November but the day of the install they cancelled and ended up coming a few weeks later. Once installed we pointed out some major issues:
The window and 4 blocks we purchased were not installed
The paint job was incomplete, only one coat which looks terrible
No black paint for framing like the pic shows (the sheds are two tone)
Split wood with nails protruding in places
Misalignment
We reached out right away and the person told us their manager would handle it and be in touch. It has been months with no contact even though we keep reaching out, we get no response!
For such a large purchase, I would hope we would at minimum get some real communication to figure out how to make this right.
- Poor customer service
- Not put up correctly
- Never completed installation

Verified Reviewer |I purchased two sheds, then Heartland backyard products sold my shed to another customer the next day.
I purchased two sheds over the phone from Heartland backyard products on July 19th. They were display models on my local Lowe's lot.
After I paid for them and sent a wrecker service to pick them up, one couldn't be found. Turns out, Heartland sold one of my buildings to someone else the day after I paid for it. When I contacted them, the representative was rude and couldn't have cared less about what had happened. I was told they would investigate and call me back...
They never did so. I called every day to check on the progress of the investigation. Supervisors wouldn't return my calls, the Representatives we're unapologetic, abrasive and rude. It's now July 22nd and I have yet to receive a receipt for the thousands I spent on these two sheds.
They haven't even refunded my money for the one shed I purchased that they then resold. Don't walk, run from Heartland. Spend your money at a company who values your business because Heartland backyard products does not!
What a nightmare this had been. Nothing about this purchase was good, not one thing.

Verified BuyerFailed to mention you need 3 ft of space around the area until 5 days before the installation.
I ordered our shed in November and specifically chose this company because they delivered and installed. I was given an installation date and had multiple email conversations with them about the install.
We paid 2,000 to have a concrete base put down just last week. Now, 5 days before the installation they tell me there needs to be 3 ft on all sides of the shed. This was never disclosed and when I called the company the woman could not have been more rude. She had the audacity to say I should have read the fine print and that I was send a text message that was a link to their website that apparently says this.
Its not disclosed anywhere obvious and the woman had multiple chances to tell me over the past 3 months and it would not have been a problem. We dont have any extra money to do anything about this and I asked for her reasoning and she said it was for the safety of the builders. Lol a builder cant build a shed a foot from a brick wall? They would make no exception and told me I was out of luck.
Worst. Company. Ever. Now we have to continue paying our storage fee and try and find a new shed and company.
Not to mention Ive been paying interest on the 4K since November. Finally, I suggested that they just drop off the shed and Ill pay someone else to build it and she said we dont do this they have to build it.she was completely unwilling to work with me in anyway.
Worst customer service experience and worst company. Run far far away.
