I bought this device from your company and in one year it was replaced and now not working properly again. My varanty just expired.

I will can't afford to pay every year $250.00+tax. My first one last me 4 years from other company. This is really bad business you running and its no help from your customer service. This device should not last only one year.

Please do something about this problem. I really don't want to give bad reviews.

Thanks. Tanya Grant

Response to Century/HearSource

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Sep 30, 2021

Both Century Hearing Aids and HearSource have been exceedingly difficult to deal with. They have not been forthcoming with requested information and it has taken months to come close to an agreement regarding a refund.

I am not satisfied that my hearing aid was returned in the same condition in which it was sent to Century. For this reason Century Hearing Aids will have to wait for me to consider this matter resolved.

Original review Aug 30, 2021
HearSource and Century Hearing Aids have so much respect for the truth that they apply it very sparingly.
This response twists the facts like HearSource twisted the second wire it sent me. The chain of events are out of order.
And no, the credit card company did NOT side with HearSource or Century.

I canceled the dispute for the above-cited reasons. Century Hearing Aids tried to extort me when it told me that it couldn't guarantee that another speaker and link would work. I fell for it and allowed yet another attempt at repair. After the repair was botched a second time, I attempted to reopen the dispute but my CC companys policy would not allow it.

GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
What should one think about a company that refuses to send documentation of its version of facts? I asked Sheryl (at HearSource) to send me documentation that it credited Century Hearing aids. She replied, "I will send you no documents." Century sent me no documents either until July.
This is a good one: Most customers use us as a last resort to repair their hearing aids.
What is the implication? I sent Century my hearing aid because my usual dispensers office would be closed for a few weeks.

Now, I wouldnt even consider either Century or HearSource as a last resort.
Another joke: the only thing we should have done differently for this customer was to refund him more quickly. We did everything we could to try and repair his old broken hearing aid. Hmmm interesting. Only the money mattered.
MORE quickly?

Five months doesnt even approach the description of quick.
Old broken hearing aid? The hearing aid was less than two years old. If Century Hearing Aids or HearSource documented the serial number on the aid, they could determine this quite easily. Neither Century nor HearSource did everything it could do to repair my hearing aid.

Rather, both did everything possible in order to avoid refunding my money.
Century and HearSource is well-advised to let this pass and take it on the chin (as both deserve) before I report both companies to their respective states consumer protection agencies for collusion AND price gouging. The average price for replacing this speaker and wire is $150.00. (I checked around).
If I read any more lies from either Century Hearing Aids or HearSource Ill report both to their respective states consumer protection agencies.

Century Hearing Aids (Lakewood, NJ) outsources its repairs to this outfit in Indiana.First, HearSource put a speaker wire on my hearing aid that was too long. That was replaced with one that was the wrong hand.

In order to induce me to cancel my dispute, I was told (by Michelle at Century Hearing Aids that my own original speaker wire had been thrown out and Century couldn't guarantee that my hearing aid would work if someone else replaced the speaker wire.I fell for the extortion. I gave Century (and Hearing Services--- now called HearSource) another shot. What I got was a speaker wire that was too short. Finally, I got the original speaker wire THAT MICHELLE at Century said was thrown out.

This company's customer service is criminal.Because I fell for Century's refusal to guarantee that my hearing aid would work, I canceled my dispute with my card. It was stupid of me to fall for it.

After that, the credit card company could no longer credit my credit card.Apparently, there was a problem between HearSource and Century Hearing Aids that held up a refund. Note: I posted full documentation for this transaction in this complaint but it is gone now.

I got a TEXT (!) from HearSource telling me to expect a letter from the company's lawyer Cousin Vinny. That letter never arrived.

Attached was a specious in-house memo indicating that it had refunded their repair fee to Century Hearing Aids. It was dated April 23. This is NOT proof that the fee was refunded to Century. A copy of a credit transfer from their bank or credit card company is proof.
In the exchange of texts, HearSource told me that the problem is between me and Century.

This is interesting. If Century received the credit back in April, why haven't I been refunded my money? (I have another complaint against Century Hearing Aids. Go take a look).
Then Chuck McElwee (Who?) responded to my complaints on their Facebook page in a very un-businesslike, trashy way.
The takeaway?

HearSource and Century Hearing Aids (aka Manon) were made for each other.

Avoid both like the plague. They are scammers.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund.

Updated by user Jan 22, 2022

I now consider the matter settled. It took five months for HearSource and Century Hearing Aids to respond appropriately to my complaint (i.e., with a refund).

In like manner, I chose to allow five months to pass after I received a refund check to mark the matter settled.

It is interesting that after I filed my complaint at this website, there was a flurry of positive remarks on HearSource's FaceBook page. Hmmm. These people are not to be trusted.

8-26-21 UpdateHearSource Finally sent me an in-house copy of a credit memo to Century Hearing Aids (dated May 25th), not a copy of a bank transfer (or whatever means HearSource uses to credit its partner in crime).I left comments on HearSource's Facebook page about this problem. The supposed owner, Chuck Somebody, responded in a very unprofessional, nasty manner and threatened me with legal action.

Because Century Hearing Aids continued to refused to issue ME a credit, I will keep HearSource on the hook until I am satisfied that the credit process is complete.I got a check from Century's parent company called Bulk Buys not long ago. Though the envelope was addressed to me using my full name, the check was made out to only my last name. The bank teller accepted the check but couldn't guarantee that it would clear. I have received no indication that the check cleared.

Hearsource has never been in a hurry either to fix my hearing aid or to fix the credit problem, I will wait until I am 100% sure that the check has cleared the bank. That may take a few months. It took four months for HearSource to send me a copy of the credit memo and another two months for Century to send me a check.

I'm in no rush to consider the matter resolved. Why should I until I have proof positive from my bank and have to time to write another update for these two amateurish companies?Stay tuned.

Going on FIVE MONTHS BUT NO RESPONSE AND NO REFUND FROM THESE JOKERS. This is a repair subcontractor for Century Hearing Aids.
First,HearSource put a speaker wire on my hearing aid that was too long.

That was replaced with one that was the wrong hand. In order to induce me to cancel my dispute with my credit card, I was told that my own original speaker wire had been thrown out and Century couldn't guarantee that my hearing aid would work if someone else replaced the speaker wire. Finally, I got the original speaker wire that MICHELLE at Century said was thrown out. This company's customer service is criminally bad.
HearSource (formerly Hearing Services) says that it refunded the repair fee to Century Hearing Aids, but Cheryl at HearSource refuses to provide proof. I believe that the reason why Century Hearing Aids will not refund my money is because HearSource did not actually refund the money to Century.
HearSource has told me that it plans to get its lawyer (Cousin Vinnie?) involved, something that I look forward to. True to form, it has failed to make good on its threat, just like it failed to fix my hearing aid.

Hear Source says that I have told lies about it. The paperwork and correspondence says otherwise.

As the owner of Century Hearing (we are who he paid for the repair), the only thing we should have done differently for this customer was to refund him more quickly. We did everything we could to try and repair his old broken hearing aid.

So when he disputed the charge, the credit card company took our side. Alas, with customers like this we should have just accepted his dispute and refunded him sooner. (He cashed a refund check on August 4, 2021). Maybe a faster refund could have avoided his review tirades.

Here’s what happened: he sent us a hearing aid to repair on February, 2021. We repaired it and sent it back in a few days. The customer said the tube was too short (we used the same size he sent it in with). So when he sent it back, we put the next size up tube on it.

He then sent that back as being too long. Hmmm. Now what do we do? We attempted to find his original (non-working) tube.

Finally we sent him the repaired hearing aid (yet again) with the original length tube. Clearly this is not what he thought we should have done. Century Hearing and our repair lab partner HearSource/ Manan have a combined 20+ years in selling and repairing hearing aids. In fact, there are few other options for hearing aid repair.

Most customers use us as a last resort to repair their hearing aids. We and our staff take pride in the service we provide. We can’t fix every hearing aid we receive for repair, but we always do our best. And if it can’t be fixed the customer isn’t charged anything.

Bottom line: We fixed this customer's hearing aid. The confusion was the fit of a replacement tube.

Update: HearSource sent me an in-house scan of an in-house refund to Century Hearing Aids of Lakewood New Jersey, not a copy of a bank/card company transaction indicating an actual credit back to Century, the company that took my WIDEX hearing aid in for repairs. Century is not authorized by Widex to do repairs or offer service for repairs.

Hearsource claims that it has retained a lawyer to force me to retract all negative comments about their company. It would be so much easier if everyone involved just refunded my money. It seems like HearSource is an amateur operation. It changed its name when I first posted negative comments about it.

I am under no obligation to retract any negative comments about HearSource because everything that I have said is true. Truth is absolute defense against libel.
