Outrageous repair cost
I will never forget how much I was overcharged for repairs. This business is continuously taking advantage of the local community.
I don't understand why this company is not shut down. Just outright liars and incompetent so-called mechanics.
User's recommendation: Do not spend one penny at this business.

I want to be paid for my time of running up and down the road and waiting for tow trucks and not getting information in a timely manner. If they can charge $94/ hour, so can I.
We brought our truck in on a Friday late afternoon after returning from a trip to Oregon where our engine heated up to the point we couldn't get up Mt. Hood, so we had to turn around and come home.
We called Hawk's Prairie Auto they said they would check it out right away and would call us. We took it to them and they did call and gave us an estimate. The estimate was incomplete and lacked all of the parts needed to correct the problem. When we went to pick it up on Monday the bill had gone up from $1370.
to $1523. They had charged us to even look at our vehicle. We left the dealership to return home with our truck and after 5 miles our truck started over heating again the smoke was coming out of the engine. So, I called and they sent a tow truck to come and get the truck.
We heard nothing from the shop by 10:30 the next morning so we called and said that they must have overlooked something for this to have happened. I asked to speak to the manager Kyle and he was very rude and said that we were accusing him of not doing it right. He NEVER said "I am so sorry for your inconvenience, and we will make this right"...he just continued to get more angry. I asked when he might have some more information for us and he said...in a couple of hours.
So we waited and no call, so I called back again at 1:30 and they said it was done. So we went to pick it up and the mechanic Dave said it was his fault and he had left a bolt loose and the coolant leaked completely out. Not sure why it took them sooooo long to let us know that it was just a bolt accept that they didn't care that we needed our truck We picked it up and spoke to Dave who felt badly about how we were treated. All others were poor communicators and rude.
My advise----DON'T EVER DARKEN THEIR DOOR. THE OWNERS/MANAGER Kyle and DESK PERSON Eddie could care less!!

Bad service
we took our car in for a specific problem, they came out saying we needed three different things done. so we got those things done 500 dollars, left and the next day car was doing the exact thing we had brought it in for.
they couldn't do it that day, I had to leave it there another day and they would "recheck" it. they "fixed" yet another part,188 dollars charging for parts and labor yet again. took the car home, next day, doing the same thing again!
my husband took it to auto zone, they helped him look at it, turned out to be a 70 dollar fix, NOT a 688 dollars like we had paid for all of the things they did that had nothing to do with what was wrong!!! i will never go back.
New In Town - Where to Go?
Just moved to Lacey, Washington and had a problem with the car not starting. We took the car to Hawks Prairie Automotive on 8045 Martin Way in Lacey, WA 98516 as they "looked" like a good place to go and were AAA approved and also had the Chevron name attached to their business. (However you could not use your Chevron card to pay for services.)
We discussed the car's problem with "Eddie" at the counter and he thought it may be the starter and it would cost about $260.00. We left the car all day on Monday, July 16th. When we picked it up Monday just before closing, the bill came to $391.50! They had done a diagnostic test for $46.00 that was not agreed to! My son called after we got home and they agreed to remove the charge.
In the morning the car would not start! We finally did get it started and after calling them drove it back up to them for them to look at. They had it all day Tuesday, July 17th and told us in the evening before closing to come and pick it up - they had started it 200 times and could not get it to not start! We drove up to pick it up and the car would not start!! We expressed our dissatisfaction with their service after two days as the car had the same problem. They rebated 120.01 for the labor and the diagnostic - which they never told us they were going to do. As the remanufactured starter (with a 1 year guarantee - not even new!) did not start the car either - that was not the problem. They were to put the old starter back on the car, but they said that they did not have it any longer and it would take yet another day to get it back. That just sounded fishy!! Who knows what they would have put in the car! After them having the car for two full days - we did not trust them to have it any longer and took the car home.
They should refund the $271.49 for the starter that they put on the car! They also gave us a list of suggested repairs. They said that the battery was weak however it is only 6 months old and they wanted $127.95 for a new battery. They said we needed a new belt as ours is splitting and wanted $76.93 for it - we looked at it at home and it is just fine. They said we needed a front inner seal, ceramic pads and brake fluid - suggested repairs totaled $1,163.68.
This is a AAA business and they also advertise that they are Chevron Approved - but do not take the Chevron card. I am alerting both AAA and Chevron of their disreputable services hinging on fraud! As they have rebated the $120.01 - I would like a further rebate of the $271.49 for a new remanufactured starter that the car did not need.
