Hart to Heart Ambulance - AVOID at ALL costs if you do NOT want further injured with Hart...
Updated by user Mar 02, 2019

Location where Medical Transportation service was delivered is Baltimore Washngton Medical Center inGlen Burnie MD.

Original review Mar 01, 2019

On 2/1/18 I was transferred from BWMC to a Rehab facility, my left leg that was NOT injured leaving the hospital, but ended up with a blood clot and 3 times its normal size after the ride due to not being secured in the vehicle properly, ramming my left knee into the back of the drivers seat when he stopped short at the Rehab facility. The driver laughed when I said my left knee hurt after his ride to the Rehab facility.

When I got out of rehab, I tried to communicate with Hart to Heart, but the legal costs were too high to hold them accountable for injuring me or caring much how their driver hurt me on 2/1/18. Medical records from Hospital clearly showed NOTHNG wrong with my left leg before the Hart to Heart ride to Rehab. The hart to Heart transportation could care less about the people they transport. ALL they care about s getting paid for the transportation they provide.

You risk getting further injured if you use the Hart to Heart transportation service.

My left leg is damaged for life due to the ride I received 2/1/18 from Hart to Heart. PLEASE avoid this transportation company if you care about how you get transported.

Horrible to employees

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If you get hired by this company watch your back if you ever get them mad. And FYI their “bonus” program has way to many strings attached to it..

A top manager was heard telling an employee that they “are replaceable, not contracts”. They always contradict what they say. Very rude to employees. Lowest paid company in Baltimore area..

stay away!!!! I was there for 23 months and during that time I had 3 ops managers. They will tell you they care about their employees when in fact they don’t give one cent about you, to them you are a nothing.

They don’t give pay raises or pay according to experience.. I highly recommend you to stay away from them.

HORRIBLE COMPANY---BEWARE!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This ambulance company is nothing but a SCAM....they have "raked" over so many people....taking advantage of the fact they're in Harford County...in any event, a very good friend of mine has an almost $17,000 judgement against him, they have garnished his wages to the tune of almost $800.00 a month and this was done without his knowledge as he was never notified by anyone or the courts....now get this he had TWO ambulance rides no more then 20-30 minutes in length and they charged him over $5,000 combined, he actually REFUSED the transport between hospitals as he was uninsured and couldn't afford it, he never signed a thing, they took him against his wishes....so here we are in 2017, my friend tried to work with the ambulance company, as a matter of fact he went to speak with the owner on a few occasions and it was all a big "run around"....he recently spoke with Mr. Skidmore this week and wanted to pay for the outrageous services rendered, minus the $10,000 in "late fees" etc......am sure this company wrote the non-payment of these services off on their taxes, and they refuse to even try and work with this person.

It's apparent, this is how they make their money, by over charging and scamming individuals....raking their finances to the point where they can't even pay for their necessities....OH and please, do a Harford Country Case search on this company....THREE full pages of court filings/cases involving Hart to Hart....I'm not surprised, only surprised that they continue to get away with this insidious behavior!!!! BEWARE of this Company!!!!!

They should be called "Heartless Ambulance Service"

Absolutely Horrible Company to Work For!!!

I worked for Hart to Heart in the main office for over 18 months. The expectations were outrageous, keeping staff over 10+ hours each week with continual threats of job security & no compensation or recognition.

The lack of communication between departments was unreal!! The owners are simply obnoxious bullies who think nothing of yelling or threatening - employee safety is a joke! They don't care about anything but money in their pockets! We repeatedly took cuts in pay & hours with promises of reimbursement, which never happened.

Yet, they continued to receive full pay, including the boss's wife who never worked, but received $100,000.00 per year as VP.

Expensive private school for their children & unemployment & social services for us.

Hart to Heart Ambulance - Emergency Transportation Review from Bel Air, Maryland

BEWARE!!! This company run under trade name Hart to Heart Transportation and management under Caring Hearts is nothing less than a joke!

New employees receive 1 day of training, including HR orientation and learning to drive ambulances, and then are set free to transport our loved ones. Completely unsafe - just dropped a patient out of the back of the ambulance yesterday! There is no quality assurance - no ride alongs, no follow up or safety training - nothing!

I watched as two females transferred my mom, who was being transported to Shock Trauma, from the hospital bed to stretcher without communicating, without safety equipment, and the stretcher was lower than the bed so they literally dropped her onto the stretcher. While they boast being professional, in reality this is a Mom & Pop operation without SOP's or any other written protocols to follow.

Emergency Transportation Review

We were charged $2500.00 plus mileage for transport from Milford Hospital to Dover hospital. Seems a bit much but what can you do in an emergency?!

ANOTHER VICTIM OF HART TO HEART

I was charged a ridiculous amount of money to be transported 31 miles from one hospital to the VA hospital. My bill $1,454.42.

Apparently the VA has contracted with this rip-off company. It is the only ambulance company I saw at the VA. I counted five Hart to Heart ambulances in front of mine. If the VA pays that kind of money no wonder the Government is bankrupt.

I was told, after the fact, but prior to receiving the bill that Hart to Heart would be charging me three to four times the amount that other ambulance companies would charge me. I can only hope that this complaint may help someone else from being a victim of this company.

I had the same issue with them and now am fighting the billing. Good luck to who ever uses this service.

$1,400 bill for inter-hospital transport?

We were charged $1,400 to go from a care to a surgical hospital, or a distance of less than 50 miles. That comes out to $28 per mile!

How in the world can they charge that much for this? I can fly to Europe and back for that much, and they took me in a rickety old ambulance!

The whole ride took less than 90 minutes, and the driver and attendant were both clods. Since when did riding in an ambulance get to be so expensive? How do they expect people to pay for all of this? They are profiteering!

H2H

I worked for H2H on the A.I Dupont contract( which they are losing because of how bad the service is) I was employed for almost a year, did everything they wanted me to do including illegal runs ! I was a good employee.

Earlier this month I had PM-16, a full sized box ambo I had myself,my partner,a medic, two male nurses, the pt.,and the pt.'s mother in my unit. I was coming up I95 North near the MLK Blvd. exit in Wilmington,DE when a vehichle in front of me stopped right in the middle of the road. The car behind them also had to stop.

I hit the brakes and checked my mirrors. I could not move over so I had to try to stop, I knew I did not have enough room to stop so I hit the horn as a warning in hopes that the car would try to move forward to give me room to stop. It worked ! when reviewing the drive cam it is clear that the car moved forward !

Even with that extra room I barely got stopped (the brakes were not working properly on the ambo)I was written up by a nurse who clearly did not know what was going on because he was in the back of the ambo !!

I was then called into the office of the local Wilmington office to have a meeting with supervisor Scott Love and Corey Skidmore, the one who is charge of operations. When I explained why I used the horn Corey said " yeah right that was a get the *** out of the raod cuz I'm in a ambulance" When I told him no that was not right , he was wrong he fired me !!!!

Joel,

We miss you buddy! I heard all about this, and its ***ed up man!

I was recently suspended for 7 days for having my personal phone on my lap. The drive cam recorded the phone being on my lap, and also recorded that I was not using it.

According to H2H I still broke the "no texting policy". Retarded!!!

Hart To Heart company with no heart

For a year I was an employee used as an example of what a good employee was supposed to be, my ambulance was clean, well stocked, The facilities and patients all said how nice it was when my crew came to transport.

All that changed when I filed an incident report against my superviser for negligence in leaving controlled drugs unlocked and open for anyone to get hold of.

The very next day she filed a bogus incident report on myself and daughter and we were fired. We were never given a chance and our past good work history ignored. We were unfairly fired with no option to give our side.

Sorry, one more: I've even seen it where they have tried to bill a transport as CCT (requiring a paramedic and nurse) when there was no nurse on the call. They are constantly trying to force crews to complete BLS patient reports for patients that should be going by a wheelchair van (a BLS transport costs about 5x as much as a wheelchair transport).

Some of their offices are not up to MOSHA standards for medical providers. They will bully you into taking calls even if you do not have to the proper supplies to actually put an ALS ambulance into service. I have seen so much illegal practice by this company it's not funny. As a provider working for them you had better know not only your protocols but legally your labor laws, and Comercial Ambulance COMAR laws as to what you are legally allowed to transport and what you can't because they will LIE to constantly just so that they can make their money.

This company could care less about their providers who make them their money, nor the patients being transported. All they care about is their money.

I decided instead of posting one long comment to break it up.

As an EMT-B for this company, you are treated like ***. You will be told that you are a "dime-a-dozen" by upper managment.

I now work part time as an EMT-P, simply because it's one of the only jobs as an ALS provider that you can pick and choose when you want to work. This company buys the absolute cheapest ambulances, and keeps horrible maintanence on them. There are currently multiple ambulances that have massive exhaust leaks into the cabin, in which the providiers and patients are getting sick, yet they still do nothing about it. These ambulances are stocked with the absolute cheapest equipment.

The cardiac monitors are extremely unreliable, their CPAP isn't even up to PSI standards, you constantly have to beg the hospital for supplies, which under COMAR standards is illegal.

The company constantly puts the providers license at risk by trying to bully the provider into taking calls that they are not legally qualified to take. They constantly try to bill calls as ALS even though only BLS treatment was given.

I'm not even sure where to start with this company. I have worked for them for some time now.

Luckily I have always been part time and never had to rely on them as my sole source of income. I started with this company as an EMT-B. I applied for the paramedic course at a local college and with the application was a letter of recomandation and grading form that had to be filled out by whoam ever you were medically affilited with. I had just switched fire departments so I knew that I wouldn't be able to get them to fill it out.

I attempted to have Hart to Heart fill it out since I had been working for them as a medical provider for over a year. They told me that "it was their policy to not recomend anyone for anything".

Luckily the paramedic program director was sympathetic and recommended that I write a letter to the Dean. I was accepted into the program.

Thanks for all the info! I was going to apply...., but no thanks.

I recently moved into Wilmington, DE from PA, and began seeking employment. Among a few other locations, Hart to Heart was one that contacted me for an interview. I spent about 20 minutes waiting for the interviewer to 'finish something'. despite me arriving 15 minutes earliy, and I'm talking about the 20, plus the expected 15. When he pulled he in, he said the starting wage was $11/h, even though the Delaware normal starting wage is $13.5/h. My qualifications were through the roof. I had recently graduated my paramedic program, had worked full time at three different EMS locations in PA, one as a supervisor, and I was seeking employment as, simply, a transport EMT-B. Well, I was told I would be contacted in a matter of two days, because they wanted to fill the spots quickly (Good, I wanted work quickly.) Well, here I am, a week later, and two messages left later, and no call. Finally, I call upper management, and express my situation. The lady I spoke to seemed very upset of the situation, made no apology, and said she would take care of it immediately. (Keep in mind, I was nothing, but respectful and tactful) Well, a half an hour later, I receive an e-mail explaining that I do not meet the qualifications of the position. Really? I'm a paramedic with all of the accredited certifications AND more. I'm not qualified for a transport EMT-B job?

Hart to Heart, you need to be shut down.

I got hurt on the job. Then ended up getting fired.

Accused of not getting hurt but yet have a MRI that shows otherwise. Harrased and bullied on a networking website. My driver as well as several others are driving without their EVO, they ask us to lie in our reports about patient's not being able to get out of bed when they walked right to the stretcher.

They asked us to lie about mileage. I ended up getting fired for not following policy.

I absolutley HATE Hart to Heart. I can't even begin to explain why. They are all racist.

Reading all of the comments here it seems there is a pattern of a bad company to work for. It is more than one bad employee experience, as I see by going down the thread. Not a place I want to work for.
