My primary care doctor lied.

AI Highlights
  • - Workers comp denial based on Dr Harrison's notes.
  • - Left knee injury claimed; MRI confirmed torn right knee meniscus.

I filed a workers compensation claim. My primary care doctor (whom I had never met) took over my care from his PA. Ironically, he was also the doctor who was hired by the workers compensation company to review all the comp claims in our area. I was denied any workers compensation benefits for the time I couldn’t work. The reason for the denial was the information Dr Harrison said was in my file. The bases for my claim was a torn meniscus in my right knee from slipping and twisting my knee. So Dr Harrison contradicted that by saying I was previously seen for an issue with my right knee and since I didn’t have any tests on my knee it was highly questionable about my claim. I told my attorney that he was lying. It was my left knee that I had hurt by jumping from our boat to the dock. But who’s going to believe me? I did eventually settled with the insurance for Safeway based on the questionable injury. I filed a claim for disability and last week during my hearing, the independent Doctor stated the injury to my left knee as noted in Dr. Harrison chart and he was talking credit for referring me to Dr. Anderson, an orthopedic surgeon. *** I didn’t need his referral. I saw Dr Anderson who did an MRI on my right knee, and indeed the meniscus was torn.

I’m sure I have no further claim because I did settle and I can’t claim any further compensation.

I don’t know what you can do but I want to make sure it doesn’t happen to another person. Is there anything you can do about issues such as this? Maybe contact the appropriate board for doctor complaints?

Thank you for reading my message and if you need anything thing else, please contact me. If I have not been clear and you are confused, please contact me and I’ll be more than happy to clear up any confusion.

Sincerely,

Debbie Schlichting
