I brought my car in to Happy at 7am, for an oil change and tire repair. I was told it would be ready in 2 hours, but at 9:45am they were just bringing it in for service.

I called to check status and after 4 calls, somebody answered. UNHAPPY!

Resolved: Shady Business Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

During the month of January, 2015 I applied for auto financing with a salesman named Mr. G. Knox at the former Currie Motors Drivers’ Edge. As a result of several factors, I was told that without a rather large down payment, I would not be able to purchase the vehicle.

On Monday March 16, 2015 I was left a message by Mr. Knox stating that he had changed dealerships and was now employed at Happy Hyundai in Oak Lawn. Mr. Knox stated that there were more programs that would help get me into the vehicle that I was looking for. He stated that he had all of my information and requested a call back.

I called Mr. Knox back and he once again stated that there were more financing options and that he had my information. Tuesday and Wednesday passed, with several vehicles that he located, were already sold.

On Thursday March 9, 2015, Mr. Knox called and stated that my credit score had dropped 60 points and that because of that I would need to put down $3500.00. I told him that I didn’t believe that my score had dropped that much, and then asked him how would he have that information, since I had not filled out a credit application, either online or in person, and had not given him my social security number and / or permission to check credit.

Mr. Knox stated that the once someone applies for an auto loan, he only has to put the customer’s name into the system and it would give him an updated credit score. I told him that I knew that that was incorrect and he then tried to tell me that the systems for all car dealerships are connected and that that was how he got that information. I informed him again that I knew that to be incorrect. After arguing for several minutes, Mr. Knox hung up on me. I then called and spoke with one of the sales managers, Ray Reynold’s and informed him of the situation.

I was notified late Thursday night / early Friday morning by several credit monitoring companies, that there several hard inquiries on my credit report from Happy Hyundai in Oak Lawn, confirming my fears that Mr. Knox had retained personal and private information without my consent, and used them without my permission. Information that was given to Currie Motors.

Blew Engine, horrible customer service

I used to love going here because it is close to my house. But that has changed and I will never step foot in this facility again....

It all started on a Wednesday morning, I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation.

The service representative told me it would take about an hour...No problem, I thought. So I am waiting and the guy comes up to me and tells me you can pay for the services and your car will be out soon, it was in the car wash. So I wait a half hour and didn't hear anything....I knew something was wrong. I had to go up to a random guy and ask about my car.

He says, "Oh about that, one of our technicians took your oil out but did not put any new oil in so when they ran it through the wash your engine seized. He is new and we were rushing him." I could not believe what I heard, I was in denial the whole time. I did not get a chance to say anything I was rushed out and gave me a rental car. No one apologized.

I did not have a choice in what was going to happen with the car they told me they would order an engine. I said it needs to be a new one or I will not take it. The service representative told me I think it is. No one can do their job.

Then find out from someone who knows if it is new or not. I came back a week later to get my car when they were done putting the motor in and I asked about getting my money back. The cashier said you will have to ask the service representative that took care of you. I told that same service representative over and over again that I am getting my money back and he responded with, "I will see what I can do." That is not good enough.

He then told me I could get you a free oil change. I will NEVER take my car back here again for an oil change. Just a simple oil change is what blew up my engine....They need to be careful who they hire. I mean that is a huge chunk of what service technicians do for their job...you put oil back in the car for an oil change...duh.

So I had to go above their heads to the service manager who was very nice. She was the only person who helped me at all with this HUGE issue. She told me she would give me my money back and I did receive a check in the mail. So a few days pass and I notice that my car is very loud when I accelerate (sounds similar to a motor boat) and it does not sound the same as before the engine was put in by Happy Hyundai.

I called the service manager and let her know and she said it could be the exhaust and that they would look at it. I went in there the other day and the SAME service representative that took care of me before...who is so insensitive and does not care, came out and told me there is nothing wrong with the car. I said I know what my car sounds like and it is not right. I told him he needs to keep looking because this is ridiculous.

He came back out 15 minutes later and shook the keys in front of my face and shook his head...said nothing...once again NO APOLOGY NO SYMPATHY. I am done with this company. I want to mention that I did not buy my care from here I bought it in Downers Grove and the license plate frame was from the dealer who sold me the car. Happy Hyundai went ahead and changed the frame for their dealership without my permission.

Do they really think I am okay with this? NO. I will not show off a company that blew up my engine and did a *** job of fixing the issue. I am going to call corporate about this issue.

Hopefully they can do something about it. I want to sell my car and get rid of it so bad.

I am done with Hyundai. Not too mention they lied about the MPG and I will go 2 miles and it will show that I went 8 it is so frustrating.

Dealer blew up engine while performing standard oil change and poor customer service

Preferred solution: Let people know not to go there. Some money for the services that I will have to pay at a different place because they said there is nothing wrong with my car after they put the motor in. All the time I wasted on this issue. It is a brand new car
