Verified ReviewerIncompetent interviewer for job position
I had an experience as a candidate for software engineering position by their recruiter and was really really frustrated. The recruiter wanted to know about my motivation of application and was stuck on that but not in my work experience.
I dont know much about the company and its products, only the basic info from their website. The reason I was applied because the Job Description was interesting to me and expected interview will tell me more about the company and role. There were no any introduction about the company, its products and roles. Instead she told me about her life, husband and the house they are building.
And wanted to do the same for me. I didnt understand why that info was needed on the first interview. In the end after spending time and failing to explain my motivation which was limited with the interest to the company and the role, she decided based on her feeling that i was not motivated working in the company and rejected my application. Also telling me there are huge amount of candidates other than me and I have to stand out somehow.
I understand that, but I am the engineer in the first place and we stand out by the ability to solve technical challenges in the creative way that must be given by them but not telling about personal life. Be it 40 or 100 people you are interviewing, you must treat them professionally but not personally. Otherwise if you are not able to handle such amount of interview what is the point of it and waste the time?
I wanted to complain to company but didnt find any email or contact address. I hoped PissedConsumer might help me, but after sending email didnt get any reply from them.
