Legal red tape with Landlord/Tenant disputes

Our legal system never ceases to amaze me. We had a non-paying tenant occupying our property that refused to pay rent and actually claimed that our property caused damage to her health and priceless personal items.

Went to court to formally evict said tenant and paid substantial fees along the way. Won our case, tenant finally left, still has not paid and now have learned that more time and fees are involved with trying to collect the money awarded from our case.

Is it just me or does the innocent person get *** on in this long, expensive and very time consuming process? Seems like there has to be a better way.
