Terrible Grimmway Farms and True Organic juices

After a good interview where the manager said I surely sounded qualified, I was sent a series of overly-authoritarian documents to sign. I felt like I was in some kind of throw back period to 30 years ago. Grimmway Farms makes True Organic juices and Bunny-Luv veggies. They claim to be a family farm but they are really a large, national corporation with thousands of employees. It's obvious that they have made some bad hiring decisions and their response was to make their agreements ever more bureaucratic and hostile to the employee. Of note is that I've been a successful business person, marketer and business coach. I know how these things are supposed to go for optimal teamwork and mutual success.

First, their Brand Ambassador agreement was the most one-sided I've ever seen. Not a hint of friendliness or teamwork. Nothing about me or the value I could bring. It was all about what I must do to comply with Grimmway's job demands (the word "must" was used 12 times, often followed by a long list of duties and requirements). It was late-day when I got the paperwork so I rushed through it.

Second, that was followed by an acknowledgment of disciplinary actions they could take even before I was hired (basically, scolding, demotions, termination, etc.). I had to sign and even pre-agree to undisclosed assignments, or else. In all my working years, no company has sent a form like this! And these both came before the application! After the application, which took a while, another form came up with a whole page of additional requirements I would have to meet. All this for a measly $15/hr, part-time job (I was taking a significant pay cut for this job too)! Some of the conditions (beyond the drug test) were additional medical and physical exams, which could take weeks. None of these were disclosed to me, for a job I was told was an Independent Contractor position! At no time did anyone at Grimmway attempt to explain clear up these significant miscommunications and undisclosed requirements. My last e-mail was never answered.

I've done Brand Ambassador work for several years, and I've been quite successful, dedicated, reliable and a top professional. Other companies have been far more friendly and trusting. I was treated like an adult, especially early on (sometimes scapegoated later for things I didn't do). Unfortunately, BA work often lasts a few months, so I have to start over with a new company. Overall, Grimmway is the most authoritarian and one-sided I've ever encountered. and they refused to consider a higher starting pay, so I would be locked in for at least 90 days. Inflexible, hostile and extreme to a fault! I'll never buy their True Organic juices again. Don't support this corporate monster!
