Verified ReviewerER Wait Time
- ER walk-ins face 2+ hour waits; some waited 9+ hours.
- Ambulances redirected when ER is full; decisions favor dollars over patients.
There is absolutely NO excuse for this or any other emergency room to except walk in patients when the wait time exceeds 2 plus hours. Its the same thing they do for ambulances when they redirecting them to another hospital when there ER department is at capacity.
There are people in the ER that have been here 9 plus hours still waiting to se a Dr. It's not the staff's fault I sure it's the hospital management which in my opinion that's the president, and or the board of directors decision which I guess is all about the God almighty dollar, NOT the patient.
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Ask when you arrive about wait times
ER visit
Waited over 4 hours in the ER with my husband who was in excruciating pain and staff couldn't care less!!
User's recommendation: Go to sinai
Unable to contact for 2 days
- Could not contact doctor for two days due to location phone issues.
- Long holds on two days: 3 hours then 45 minutes, then I disconnected.
I was unable to contact my doctor for 2 days due to telephone issues with the location. I spoke with a receptionist and was transferred to an automated system that left me on hold for 3 hours before I disconnected.
The following morning I had a similar experience, again left on hold until I disconnected after 45 minutes. I received a message from my doctor wondering why she was called - not concern for me but
wondered why she was contacted

Too much pain medicine, dirty room, terrible food
- Too much pain medicine; I couldn't wake and got no relief.
- Room dirty for days; glove outside; four more surgeries; won't return; food terrible.
During surgery the doctor gave me too much pain medicine and they could not wake me up.They gave me medicine to wake me up causing extreme pain I had to relive the surgery without any pain medication. I had to walk with a nurse for over an hour to get the pain medication out of my system.
I have never before experienced such pain. Room was filthy no one came into clean for 4 days, bathroom was dirty and never cleaned, a used rubber glove laid outside the bathroom the entire time and no one picked it up.
I have had to receive 4 surgeries after that and I refused to ever go back to this hospital. The food was also terrible and not much to choose from.

Very good within the hospital
- Gate staff refused exit and demanded $7 despite discharge papers saying no payment was required.
- The gate attendant was rude when I tried to exit.
When i tried to exit the emergency room hospital gate, the person at the garage gate would not let me out and was rude because I was told inside the hospital that my discharge papers would be sufficient and that I did not have to pay. She insisted that I had to pay $7. She was black and nasty.
Geriatric staff
- Entry feels welcoming, but staff are not fond of people of color.
- They discourage speaking up.
- The reviewer resigned.
Coming in the door to work for this company they are very welcoming but once you get to know the staff they are not to fond of people of color they do not want you to have freedom to speak up for yourself. you are talked down to and some of the nursing staff as well as the physician are predjudice I never want to work for this company ever again and I wouldn’t recommend it to my worse enemy I was very disgusted I resigned
Does not use any medical facts
- Dr Sellman relies on insurance company notes instead of patient medical facts.
- Accuses him of lying, rewriting reports, and taking kickbacks.
Dr sellman does not use any medical facts about the patient,, just what the insurance company says with my case. He lies and rewrites his reports ... he gets a kick back in money if the patient doesn’t catch on.
Greater Baltimore Medical Center Customer Care Review
- Nurse didn't arrive for hours despite multiple calls.
- Service costs money; concerns about bias toward Americans and language barriers.
My mother in-law in micu. Before 3 hours I'm waiting for the nurse but she isn't coming I called many more times they told ok but she is not coming .
It's not a free service. I have to pay for everything. I don't like this service.
You guys r only serve for American people? We don't have good English that's our problem.
Greater Baltimore Medical Center GBMC
- Admitted from the Emergency Dept for GERD; doctors didn't listen.
- Endoscopy was finally done after four nights; issue confirmed; bill was huge.
My husband went to the Emergency Dept and was admitted. We told the doctors about his health history and how he was not taking his medication for his GERD, he had a previous history of acid reflux and GERD that caused ulcers in his esophagus.
He was supposed to be taking medication but wasn't good about taking the medication. I told the doctors I Thought this was causing his pain. They turned a deaf ear to us. I asked them to do an upper endoscopy, instead, they continued to do needless tests and kept him in the hospital for 4 nights.
After all was said and done, they FINALLY did the upper endoscopy as their last test and finally found out what was wrong with him. Guess what??? Exactly what we had been telling them from day one. We ended up with a HUGE bill.
They are HORRIBLE, just HORRIBLE. They didn't listen to us one bit. What kind of doctors don't listen to their patients????? Apparently the doctors at GBMC who are on staff to treat the admitted Emergency Dept.
patients.
It makes me wonder if the hospital underhandedly kept him in there to jack up the bill?? Thanks for NOTHING GBMC.........
Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) Ignored level 10 Pain
- Severe pain; waited hours in triage; 6 hrs to see a PA, 16 to OR.
- ER staff lacked compassion and mis-triaged; nurses afterward were great.
On December 30th I went to GBMC Emergency Room in severe and increasing pain. Hardly able to walk, sweating and crying in pain, I was told to sit in the waiting room to await triage where there were 10 people ahead of me.
I complied, but had to lay down on a bench as I could not sit due to the severe pain in my lower back and buttocks.
My arm was flopping into the aisle and instead of addressing the ever increasing pain, they admonished me for the intrusion of my arm into the aisle. Now, I was not able to speak and was crying to the extent that mucous was running down my face. They asked a fellow patient if I had sat up. I had not, but the patient told them I did.
They put me in a wheelchair where the pain was even worse! I could not speak and was literally seizing in pain. As it turned out, I had a rapidly growing cyst on my colon and needed IV antibiotics and immediate surgery to cut it out of me.
I waited 6 ours to see a physician assistant and a total of 16 hours to get into the operating room. After being seen I was given some mild pain medicine.
When that did not work..I was given IV Dilaudid which did finally ease my suffering. The nurses and staff after admission were great, but the ER staff had attitudes, lacked compassion and failed to recognize serious pain and illness in the triage phase. While I understand how busy these people are, if they cannot handle the heat, perhaps they should take a less stressful job. I told a patient rep who came and asked me about my experience and was told that I should have had someone with me in the emergency room!
It I was not so sick, I would have flown off the bed! I wrote a follow up note on their website and have heard nothing.
I will not go back and God help those who expect excellence as advertised and meet with much worse. I would not wish this on anyone!

Well, what can we say other than it's in Baltimore. You might want to get a free consult with an attorney to see if you have cause for a civil malpractice suit against the hospital and/or the surgeon, etc.
