Great Learning

I took a Great Learning class through MIT on AI and machine learning. It is by far the worst course that I have ever taken.

After 5 weeks, I told them I didnt want to continue. The format consist of video lectures by MIT faculty, but my sense is they were repurposed from another course. These take anywhere from 3-5 hours to complete. You have to take an exam after each module is completed.

Once per week, you and a group of 15-20 meet with a mentor for 2 hours who reviews the content that you already were tested on. You also do a case study, but you dont use the software to do the analysis. There is an additional 2 hour class where they do the analysis. On paper, the course sounds good.

But in reality, it is terrible waste of time and boring. Find a better class

Im taking the No Code and Machine Learning course and it is not good if you want to learn about AI. It is implied that this course is through MIT and Great Learning promotes that it is taught by MIT faculty.

This is a half truth. It appears that Great Learning acquired and repurposed course videos on statistics and machine learning for their course that were created by MIT faculty. Unless you have a good background in statistics and decision science, these videos are complicated to understand and take a long time to watch. In each weekly section there are 10-15 videos that are each 5-15 minutes long.

You take a 1-2 question quiz after each video. Once you complete all of the videos in the weekly session and the quizzes, you have to take a chapter test in which you must get at least an 80% or you cant progress in the program. In addition to the videos, there are weekly 2-hour live mentor sessions taught by an assigned data scientist that rehashes the content in the videos that you watched and a case study. These are very heavy in statistics and decision science.

In addition, there is another 2 hour weekly online class where an instructor with 150 people shows how to use the software that does statistical analysis for the weekly assignment.

If you work for Corporate America and want a practical class to learn about AI, this is not the class for you. If you work in data analytics, you already know how to do what is taught in this course.

I attended the PGP program for six months ended around December 5,2023. The course was paid in full.

To this date, I have not received my cerificate. I have been getting the round around and each time I am told that I will receive it withint 15 days. It is now 3 months after and I still have not heard from any one. I opened a ticket on their dasboard and it was to close.

Yet, the problem has not been resolved.

Googles, AWS and Microsft does offer free training and yo can print the certificate one completed.

This school is NOT LEGIT DOSave your money NO WAIT YOUR MONEY. Their materials for the courses are very old.

Scammed by these fraudsters. I enrolled for a Data Science course and during the initial phase, these guys were so polite and helpful because obviously, I was yet to pay them.

Once I made the payment, they hardly cared if I was given the correct batch or if I was even entertained by my program manager. Every time I raised this, all they were able to do was assign me with a new program manager. And yes, the other program manager was trained similarly to the previous one. He/she also never cared if I was facing challenges or whatever, they just made sure I paid the money that was supposed to be paid.

I drafted an email multiple times but no one bothered to call me or fix this concern. Now, I just need my money back and want to stay away from these scammers.
