I have gift certificates and no events at which to use them

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If they're only going to host one or two track days per city/year, they need to: a.) publish 12 months in advance (they don't publish anything) and b.) have an alerting via email system to remind people. I'm SOL for Seattle this year. Anyone wanna make me an offer on two gift certificates? I have two $150 certs, and I can't get a refund either. This outfit is not at all interested in customer service or satisfaction. If you aren't somewhere near where you KNOW they are having an event, you're better served finding some other driving entertainment.

Great American Rip Off

I purchased a spa treatment through them for my birthday. On their website they claimed to have thousands of spas to choose from so I was really looking forward to being pampered and having a nice birthday. When I called in with my voucher I was told that in the entire city of Austin, they actually only had one spa in network. So not only did I not get to choose my spa but I didn't even get to choose the time of day of the appointment. I told them the day I was available and was told that they would call me back with an appointment time. Two weeks later the day of my appointment was approaching and I still hadn't heard back from them, so I called back to find out that this particular spa wasn't accepting new appointment for several months. I was then told I would get a call back once an alternative for me was found, which ended up being the Four Seasons hotel spa. I was then told they would email me the gift certificate for the spa in time for my appointment on the 17th of January. It is the 17th and I just got the gift certificate, and it is for the wrong spa. I now have an appointment I can't go to because my gift certificate is for some place called orange blossom spa. Since it is a national holiday today they are closed for the holiday and unable to fix this. I really wanted to like this service. And I was really patient working with them, but this whole experience has been a nightmare. I really just want a refund and to forget about all of this, but I don't see that happening.

Great American Days

My wife got me a gift certificate for Christmas to drive a stock car. I did not want to disappoint hers so I accepted the gift graciously. However not that the weather is getting better and she is asking me to schedule the event I have raised my concerns about driving the car. I have asthma and am concerned about having to wear a full face helmet. Also, concerned about being completely strapped into the car. What many people don't know about asthmatics is that they also become claustrophobic. I also checked with my doctor and she does not recommend I do it. I presented this information to a Great Americans day agent and he said they do not offer refunds (past 7 days). He offered other events which I have no interest in. I feel this is not the right way to do business since it was not even me who purchased this gift certificate. While my wife meant well, but she did not take my health concerns into consideration, nor did she speak to me about it because she wanted to surprise me. Based on this I feel I (my wife)should be given a refund.

After all, Great American Days refunded me the money. I guess I just needed to be patient a little longer.

(It's hard to do when it comes to money). Thank you GAD for your reconsideration.

After months of waiting I see now that this company has not intention of refunding me at ALL. They asked me to call them and work something out.

They agreed to refund me and 7 months later, NOTHING. Their only response is "the check is being processed.

People beware, these are not honest people working at this company. They will drag you along until the year is up.

I agree with practical, I've had the same experience with these idiots. They promised me a refund and it never came.

Beware, once they have your money... your not getting it back.

If you get sick, or have an emergency that comes up, they don't care. Your out your $$$$$

I purchased a race trip for my husband 2 weeks before his Bday. Only to find out he already registered for 2 other races in July and does not really wish to make more such trips.

I bought a Fighter experience trip from American Days a couple years back and I was happy about my experience with them that I simply didn't check return policy. It WAS different a few eyars back. I trusted them and got burned. Folks on the phone don't care about repeat business - they care about "policy" - really so short sighted...

I will complain now to Consumer protection and BBB and post everywhere I can about their "traps" that will hopefully deter others.

If management wants to contact me - you have my email on file. I find it completely impractical to offer 7 days return policy when most people purchase presents in advance of Bdays and such.

I cannot agree strongly enough with "Irish". I own a company and get this type of 'complaint' all the time. The customer is definitely not always right and it seems in this case Great American Days has simply given in, to avoid any further unjustified complaints.

If your wife took you to dinner and ordered something for you that you didn't like, would you also expect a refund for that? "My wife didn't realise I'm a vegetarian, she'd forget her head if it wasn't screwed on"

There are costs involved at every stage and you are asking other people to take responsibility for your (your wife's) actions.

You are 100% not justified in asking for a refund. Especially since they offered you an alternate experience. Think next time.

Don't post anything on this site that you may want to delete later. The *** that created this site do not respond to request to remove

My wife is not a child. She was only thinking of making me happy. Thats ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME!

Guest

Your wife should be the one to blame. Obviolusly she is a child since she did not think of your health concerns before making the purchase.

The *** that put this site up are going to cost me money. They do not respond to request to have the complaint removed.

You should know this before posting any complaints on this site. I have written a letter to them and called them numerous times in the last two weeks. NOT ONE RESPONSE.

Their is a number posted on sites (262)674****. I have tried it many times.

7 Days return policy? Practical? Reasonable?

3 years ago I purchased for my husband a Fighter Pilot experience and we were very happy with it. I purchased him a trip driving stock cars this year only to find out he was already registered for 2 racing events and didn't want another trip (within 5 days of the one I bought). I called 800 number to cancel it and got "we can't do anything, you have to buy something else". I am pretty sure that return policy was not there last time around. what kind of tricks these guys play? it's not anything custom-made - why 7 days? why not 2? If you are like myself purchasing presents in advance - don't use Great American Days. they take your cash and you have no protection. Shame, really. I will file several complaints to Consumer protection and BBB, and yes, there are tweets and facebook !! unless management decides to do the right thing.

Great American Days ruined my son's birthday!

Booked a NASCAR run along experience for my son's 15th birthday. I asked if he was old enough and was told it wasn't a problem. Their website said nothing about age restrictions. They sent me a certificate that even said "Happy 15th Birthday". On the morning of his birthday we drove an hour to get to the track. It was then we were told he had to be eighteen. I called Great American Days and asked for two things - a refund and for them to change their website so no other child would have this problem. It took several weeks to finally get a refund and then they didn't include the shipping charge. It took several weeks more to get the shipping refunded. (Why should I pay 8.75 for something to be shipped to me when it wasn't anything I could use?) They finally changed the website to include the age restrictions after I called the NASCAR officials who actually run the ride-along (who had no wrong-doing at all) and explained the problem to them. However, Great American Days still haven't changed all the locations where the ride-along can happen. I will NEVER use Great American Days again and encourage you to book at your own risk!

We were disappointed to read your review of Great American Days and again, we do apologize. Truly did not mean to ruin your son's birthday.

Each stock car school has different age requirements and that particular customer service representative got confused, an honest mistake.

We have since reviewed age requirements will all staff and have updated each track online that do require a student to be 18 or older for ride alongs. Again, Great American does apologize.
