AI Highlights
  • - VA dealer did head gasket work; car shut down on a trip from FL.
  • - Cost $857; VA dealer refused reimbursement.

I had work done on my car (Head gasket) at the dealership in VA where I bought my car. On my vacation trip home to VA from FL my car shut down.

The mechanic at the dealership in FL said the electrical connectors were not connected properly and locked from a previous repair and that caused the car to shut down when I was driving over construction on I95. It cost me $857. in hotel, towing and diagnostic work at the dealership.

When I contacted the dealership in VA where the repairs were done they said I could not prove it was their mechanic that messed up and refused to reimburse me for the mechanic's failure. I was told

the mechanic no longer works for them.

Loss:
$858

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: make sure you get everything in writing and have someone check the work after it is done.
