Gourmet Food - Sales Representative Review

Man came to door on Sunday afternoon, told me my neighbor (gave first name) had problem and he had meat he had to get rid of at an extremely low price. He memtioned Omaha. I said no, he continued to tell me how he had to get it out. I continued to say no, he procedued to tell me he had a deal I couldnt refused. Continued to say NO. He said he had hamburgers, steaks, seafood etc. I told him we did not eat steaks. He said he would make it up.in hamburers and seafood. I once again said no and i dont have any room in my freezer. He said if he could get it in my freezer will you take it, I again said you cant get it in. He immedately proceeded to the kitchen and opened the freezer and said yes I can. I said what are you talking about he said 2 dozen hamburgers, filets, strips, salmon all for $500.00. I said no way. We dont like filets nor salmon. He said i will add more hamburgers, ny strips and crablegs. So dumb me again I said you cant get that in the freezer. So very hurriedly he started rearranging my refrig and freezer. Pulling stuff out and putting it everywhere. I told him again,no way $500.00, he then said $389.00, I said no. He then said $289.00 and all the time talking very fast and in a very big hurry. He then wanted to know if i had cash, i said are you crazy, we dont keep that kind if cash in the house. Becoming very suspecious about him, the meat ,which I did not see, as he put it in the freezer with stuff falling everywhere. He kept asking if my Husband was home and i assured him he was. So he wanted a credit card and i told him no, he would have to take a check. He wrote on a piece if paper, which i still have, Gourmet Grocery. He did not get it all in as he left a package of brownish freezer burn bag of crab legs in the refrigerator. He parked his white vehicle back far enough that i could not see it from the door. After he left ,i think I got 2 dozen hamburger patties, 5 steaks, and that bag of crab legs. I looked at the patties and they are almost white with some red specks in them. After seeing the product, the amount of money, i went to my bank the first thing Monday and stopped payment on the check, went to the Sheriff Department and reported them. The Company(?) is more than welcome to make some kind of arrangements to get this stuff back. I have not eaten any, nor will I. Just dont send that person(tall white fast talking male) back to my door. I also reported him to our office at a Senior Park. By the way, there is nothing wrong with my neighbor. DO NOT EVEN LET THEM IN OR DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!

They were in my neighborhood trying to get info about my neighbors, which I refused to give him. (I might add that their house is for sale).

So he told me the reason he was asking was that his daughter is missing & he got info that she might be there with this man. They were also taking pictures of my neighbor’s home. I called the community office & the manager went out & he gave her a different story (he was at someone elses house). Said they were former customers & he was jusr trying to get in touch with them.

She told him if that was true, he would have their name & number & should call them.

That he was soliciting & that is not allowed here. She told them if they came back, the police would be called.

#1238237

They are in our neighborhood now. He used an excuse of I'm training a girl. Parked his white truck on the next street.

Gourmet Food - Sales Representative Review from Campbell, Texas

My mother who is 85 was home alone when the woman knocked on her door and wanted to know if she wanted some steaks. She said no so the woman went back out to the truck at which time the man came up to the door and was very pushy insisting that mom buy the steaks. He actually went into her house and opened her freezer and said you have room for it. She paid him for the steaks so he would leave. He made her feel unsafe and she didnt know what to do. I am very upset that these people prey on older people. My mom lives alone and it is a shame that she has to put up with this kind of treatment.

Gourmet Food - Steak Review from Lakeland, Florida

Earlier this month a young guy from this company knocked at my door with several boxes of meat selling them as leftover from their stock. Trust me it tastes like leftovers. I purchased steaks, stuffed flounder, salmon and chicken...all to the tune of $120.00 dollars. The quality is so bad I'm unable to eat the rest. I've tried calling the company three times, the first try I was promised a call back, never happened! All I get now is a voice mail. The guy who sold the product has a phone that does not accept calls. Please believe the complaints.

Gourmet Food - Beef Review from Tampa, Florida

My boyfriend had left to go to the store. Five minutes later there was a knock at the door a young man in training for the job, so I figured why not see what they have to offer. Well they got me for a box of 5 different beefs for $105.00. Immediately right after I called my boyfriend and told him what I had done and he had told me no he didn't want it to return it and get my money back. The men hadn't left yet so I went outside and told th young man in training that I didn't want it because the other salesman was talking with some friends of his. I stood outside for a few minutes waiting for him to come over but he continued to talk to his friends so the young man got out of the truck and told him to come over. I came back to the house to get the case of meat and by the time I turned around they had pulled off!! I called the cell phone number the young man had left me and it was going straight to voice mail! I immediately called my bank and put a stop on the check!! My boyfriend came home as soon as I told him what I had done and went off to find them, he ended up finding the guys the man was talking who and they called him and told him that I didn't want it, that I put a stop on my check as well and all the guy said was that they were already across the bridge.

Modern day crooks! No communication after they sell you over-priced/expired meat!

1st) I just got home from working outside all day to a couple of guys that were push-selling "over stock" inventory on my block...Which I admit falling for the "over stock" line. Later to find out when I was unpacking the meat for the freezer it had an expiration date that had passed 5 freakin' days ago! And according to their brochure it has a freeze life for 6mo! HOW?? Are they meat genies!?!? Now I'm thinking, this is 6mo and 5 day old meat that they have been driving around in f-150's with a mini fridge bungee'd to the back. Taking the meat out to show customers at every door while it is defrosting and being refreeze'd over and over every day for 6mo or at least all day that day! To get rid of inventory or to just make a profit by ripping the customer off at 2-3x the value of the meat. 2) Now, he was selling me the case of meat being at a price of $289 (Brochure price) for $100 less! Oh boy! But I couldn't afford that price, so I got it for $150. Which I thought that was awesome until I noticed that I just bought CHICKEN for over $10 a pound! I thought I can save some time and money by buying off this "Gourmet Garbage" truck! to do the math later and find out I was played a fool. Note: I grocery shop all the time and chicken by the pound for Publix Greenwise is around $4 a pound. But each chicken from Gourmet Grocery was individually wrapped which gave the illusion of there being a lot of chicken for my money. The guy even claimed that the meat was "Greenwise comparable in quality". My boyfriend looked at the plain chicken when he got home from work and noticed it was a yellow tint....Greenwise is never a yellow in tint. Their regular chicken looks like that and it's $3 a pound. 3) Lastly! My favorite part! :D I packed up all this meat in a cooler before work (I'm not local so it takes almost an hour to get to Pinellas Park) to drivvvvvvve down to their facility which looked like a garage/warehouse/storage unit thing! where it was located with no windows next to a mechanic! Pounded on the door after the first friendly knock to just return within the 3days they give you from the Brochure to get my refund. No BODY there. I called the day I purchased the meat and left a message NO reply. I called on my way to the facility, again when I got there and knocked nicely on the door, called again after pounding on the door, then 1 more call on my way home with the meat in defeat to leave a final message...4 days later and nothing. Ridiculous! It has been a 1/2 week since it was purchased and still no call back. .....Guess now I lost $150 and have a freezer full of expired meat! Looks like the family pet will wave the meal of her life!

The date that you are referring to as an "expiration date" is actually the date that the meat was packaged. I would recommend before slandering a company for misrepresentation you thoroughly examine any possibilities or maybe even call the company and ask for assistance in understanding what is going on instead of assuming that you have been ripped off.

Have you read up on this company?? These people are crooks and need to be stopped!!

They go door to door selling disgusting meat at overinflated prices! Please do as I did and don't open your door when they come pounding on it!

My suggestion would be to make use of the castle doctrine if these criminals try to enter your home. When the police come with the coroner to remove the bodies, just explain you were in fear for your life. end of story.

WHAT KIND OF BEEF IS IT?????

NOTHING I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE. Gourmet Grocery sold me 4 boxes of beef hamburger patties T-bones some kind of peppercorn sirloin steak, all %100 Satisfaction Guaranteed, flavor and tenderness for 6 months. We have had them since Jan 5 2013, today is Jan 21, 2013 and the taste was and is discussing and uneatable, I could not drowned the awful flavor in the hamburger even the smell was an assault to the house), the black man walked away to the next house saying no they would not take it back and the white skinny guy ran and told the other guy “we can’t please everyone.” WHO ARE THE %100 GUARANTEEING Also a friend of ours was visiting and bought a box of fish and said it was awful as well! I would have let it go, but the way they treated me today was not %100 guarantee They acted like thieves in the night taking off in there white truck of GOURMET GROCERY. BE AWARE PINELLAS COUNTY THEY ARE BASED IN PINELLAS PARK There is no freshness, flavor and tenderness for 6 months not even the same month.

I agree. Horrible meat, horrible fish and very small portions. A total waste of money.

#857735

They only managed to *** me out of $30 for a box of steaks. I agree with you that the meat (probably ox) tasted funny, and didn't smell right.

Everyone beware. Just buy your meat at the grocery store or market.
