Gothic Cabinet Craft - Simple Review #1479908918
Gothic Cabinet Craft - Simple Review #1479908918 - Image 2

I purchased a corner cabinet in June, 2016. The promise was 6-8 weeks, but it took 3 months.

See attached pictures of the terrible craftsmanship. To those familiar with carpentry, it looks like dull blade or a rip saw was used to cut various pieces.

The picture attached is one of several places where the cut was very sloppy.

Gothic delivers again!

We are thrilled with the work done by Gothic Furniture.

So much so we remodeled one room when our daughter was 3 and did so again as she got older and her needs were different.

Tony's ideas were perfect each time....

Our first set of built-ins made it possible for us to have desperately needed storage and closet space, a desk, television closet and a single bed with a trundle underneath for our then 3 year old.

As she got older, and we no longer needed room for toys, we remodeled the same room and our bedroom.  The design Tony came up with was was perfect for a late teenager (lots of storage still) with a larger desk, more floor room and a bed with storage...

We also remodeled our own bedroom at that time and were concerned that they would make the room look smaller.  Tony assured us the room would look larger and, in fact, it does!  Plus we have storage space and a design that looks first class.

We heartily endorse Tony Stakis and Gothic Furniture.

The old bait and switch!! Supposed guarantee

This is the second purchase of a platform bed. The first one was purchased 2008, great had no problems with it.

Purchased second one 2012 what a nightmare. First they deliver was not on time and they never called to tell me that it would not be delivered.

Finally when they did deliver the bed it was not finished properly and I had to send it back. After a week of my son sleeping floor with a brand new mattress. They item was delivered and still not completely finished properly.

The wood was not painted in some areas and rough, the insides of the draws are horrible. You can't put anything in them without getting caught on the wood or making the close you put in them full of white saw dust.

Ordered a walk unit with doors at the bottom section

All the doors were uneven

They have no quality control or if they do they are idiots - doors are all crooked? Great job ship it out

And I paid thousands for this *** looking furniture

NEVER SHOP AT GOTHIC CABINET CRAFT

I would have been better off with pressboard made in china from walmart

Horrible customer service

I bought my item online. I was told I'd get an email to schedule pick-up.

I never got the email. I called customer service they gave me a day,I made arrangements and the merchandise wasn't there. I went to a showroom got some good and friendly advise.I called customer service as advised. I was told the item would be in the showroom on tuesday.

I din't get a call until saturday. Finally I got my item after a lot of drama. We picked it up and wasn't given the pegs for the shelves. I called customer service AGAIN to inform them that I didn't get the pegs for the shelves, he acted as if I did something wrong.

I can't say how disgusted I am with their online system. No compensation was made for all of my many inconveniences.

The worst. Never again

Gothic Cabinet Craft has very poor customer service

I placed an order for a captain's bed with Gothic because the quality of every item I purchased from them when I lived in New York was very good. I have moved, and I just couldn't find what I was looking for here, so I bit for the shipping costs and ordered the bed.

It was handled poorly by UPS Freight and damaged, and Gothic filed the claim on my behalf. However, they did not provide me with the copy of the complaint, or the complaint number, telling me that because it was filed online they couldn't. They also didn't send the pictures of the damage I provided along with the claim, so it was eventually denied. In the meantime though they did send some replacement parts (one set of drawer slides, some nylon floor glides, and some missing trim, theoretically valued at $125, nearly half the cost of the bed before shipping) I could not begin repairs because Gothic said I had to wait until UPS Freight examined the damage.

In addition the parts sent were damaged and more parts had to be sent, though not the rails which I had to repair. When I was finally notified of the denial (after repeated phone calls not returned) I called the UPS rep whose name had been provided. She informed me no pictures had been received. I emailed them and she reversed the decision immediately.

Then I spent another week trying to contact Gothic to see when I would receive the compensation. Now Gothic tells me I am trying to defraud them - they have overvalued the replacement parts (14" drawer slides are less than $5 and oak veneer trim under $7 for 25 feet at Lowes, they sent 4 feet, floor glides are less than $4 for 8) and claim that by providing the parts (not the repairs) the damage claim is satisfied. The drawer slides were damaged by UPS but the missing trim is a manufacturing defect.

Gothic's handling of this issue shows extremely poor regard for their customers.

Ultimately I have received no discount on the purchase price of the bed due to damaged goods received, no acknowledgement of a manufacturing defect because of the missing trim, no compensation whatsoever for my time, trouble and aggravation. And to add insult to injury, the damage claim reversal due to my diligent followup will actually go to Gothic.

did you say 14" slides on a captains bed? what kind of draw is only 14" deep no wonder you payed that much most drawers are around 20 to 22".

sound like your just bashing a company

:cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry

If ups damaged your stuff you should be picking a fight with them. :(

I also know The Gothic uses American made parts not that cheap Chinese stuff you find at Lowes also depending on the wood grade for veneer and mm it can make a big difference in price .

I'm 67 years old live in NY most of my life before I went down to Florida I have been buying from them for years and never had a problem. I just recently got and order ship down to me and it was perfect , the sales person who handles the out of state orders was the best some Italian kid very very helpful.

I think your attacking the wrong people if your problem was with the shipping.

You wont get what you pay for!

I waited for 10 years to have the bedroom set I dreamed off and five of those years to have the space to upgrade the size of my current bed. I researched the platform bed options online and stumbled on to the Gothic Cabinet Craft website.

I looked up the company and could not find any complaints about the furniture so I felt it was my lucky day. The site shows lovely examples of all wood furniture and plenty of options to find exactly what you want though it is a little pricey seemed worthwhile to get exactly what I always wanted. I placed my order after reading the description with my husband. On delivery day, I was in for real heartbreak.

The bed was a completely different color than shown…"distressed edges" mean un-sanded unevenly finished plywood with saw cut marks and bad stain, the pieces of the bed do not match as the stain is uneven and different colors, and best of all a queen size bed was fully assembled despite the web assurance "Our beds come in a few large parts that are screwed together using wood screws. Items like our bunk beds and loft beds require more assembly. Local delivery charges include assembly on most items (excluding loft beds and custom work installations)". Think a huge bed will come in pieces and be assembled on location think again!

The customer service kindly offered to *** up the bed (to my horror) which did go up the stairs and down a hallway but won't fit through the bedroom doorway!! to pieces for a fat fee and another overpriced delivery fee as there are links that discharge the company from responsibility from basically anything(even reasonable quality and size issues). Do not expect sympathy or a resolution from Gothic they will cash in on piling on charges happily. Buyer beware!!

I am stuck with a cheap horrible looking bed that was such a disappointment and have to look at it every day. Do not set yourself up for a disappointment and a rip off.

Gothic does not produce quality furniture it looks poor at best and homemade. Shop else ware and learn from my mistake.
