No customer service

I called more than 10 times. Endless menus to go through only to be told they are too busy with other callers, call back later. Called USAA who referred me to this company, and USAA transfers me to the main number of this company. Pass the buck. Okay, so I tried to email, no response. Called again and again, no one to answer. Their web site is full on info but it's almost impossible to find the information that pertains to you. I can't believe they are allowed to take premiums from people and offer insurance. In my opinion, this company is a scam. AVOID.

Golden Rule LTC Insurance will not release funds

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Mother spent $100k 14 years ago for LTC insurance. Now she needs care and has care givers daily in the home, but the administrator (OneAmerica) for GR will not release her funds.

Do not fall for scam. They guaranteed a annual 4% growth in benefits, but in the small print, they are allowed to recover whatever they claim for costs. So in 14 years this "investment" to provide future care has only grown less than 1.5% annually. Health Care cost have grown 65%.

Despite certification from her Dr. that she is chronically ill with severe cognitively impairment and a Plan of Care requiring supervision, her claim to use her own money is denied. DO NOT Buy LTC Insurance from Golden Rule or do business with its partners, OneAmerica and State Life. They want to keep your money until you die.

That is NOT Long Term CARE!!!!

They keep claimants busy getting more and more information that they use to deny a claim in efforts to discourage the claimant in the hope that they will give up on the process.

Terrible web site and customer service

The web site is terrible and difficult to navigate. In the claims area, the download command gives you an excel spreadsheet that the claim numbers are unreadable. (They are formatted in scientific notation!!) i was able to reformat the claim number column, then found over $750 in errors on the form. The EOB (Explanation of Benefits) forms that the company is suppose to provide are incomplete. They do not print the second page of the form that has the explanation of the front page! And they expect you to go paperless!!!! It took me 4 calls and a month before I got to a competent customer service person. She was able to clear things up and hopefully reports the problem to her company.

Golden Rule

Horrible insurance. Started at a $2500 PP deductible for family 4. Then I had to go to $5000 PP deductible to keep monthly premium close to what we were paying, $500.00 per month!!! Thank you """Affordable Health Care Act"" Family member had 2 hospital stays...hardly nothing covered. We now have $1,000's in bills from hospital. What a piece of ***. It is criminal that these companies are allowed to peddle this sham and bilk consumers out of Millions (perhaps Billions) of $. Maybe its time to cancel this complete waste of insurances dollars, I still will come out ahead even if the government sends me there absurd fine.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against this company for fraud!!! They are "behind" on processing payments and now I'm not allowed to use my insurance!! I'm expected to pay out of pocket then submit my receipts to be considered for reimbursements??? However I'm still expected to pay for my policy too??? Its costing me so much money!!! Can someone do something? I have filed a complaint with the Department of Insurance…

Have been with Golden Rule for 10 years. I called Nov 4th (over an hour wait) and asked to change deductible. I was told it would start December. December came and nothing changed so I called again (over an hour wait) The lady was very nice. She could see where I had called before and was unsure why it was not changed as promised. She apologized and said she would put in an urgent note and get it done. Jan 27th !!!! Still the same. So I called again, this time almost 1.5 hour hour, as soon as I got through they disconnected me? So after 3.5 hours and speaking to two people I am nowhere forward and my policy is the exact same. What do I do? Do I spend another 1.5 hours waiting on the phone and hope I don't get cut off and if I do get through Whats to say the next person will actually do as requested? I have never come across such a poor customer service system and process before. Or do I simply just cancel and go elsewhere ?he problem is you can't do anything or speak to anyone unless you wish to waste over an hour and hope you don't get off. Quite pathetic.

The hour wait seems to be typical if you read the reviews most say this, going back years. So of course Glden Rule don't care else they would employ a couple of extra people.

Try Canceling?!

They wont let you cancel. On hold for over an hour twice then disconnected. Tried several avenues including online cancelation but was rejected because it didn't recognize my account number. WTF!Tried emailing and faxing with no response. Having to go through bank to stop auto pays. My dentist had some much trouble with them She begged my to change companies. There was a constant stream on correspondence back and forth with every cleaning for both myself and my husband. It became ridiculous.

RIP OFF

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Had coverage for two years in SD and they no longer cover SD as of mid 2014 and we had just moved to NC and noticed they stopped taking $740 out for Catastrophic insurance! They said they sent letters stating the coverage didn't exist for SD anymore but we never got them, and they said they stopped charging because we moved so therefore Jan/Feb/March when we were told we were cancelled, but they would restart our policy and charge $2400.00 for the months they say they didn't know what to charge us for...They even said they did get the letters return to them! But some how it's our fault.... after hour conversation - CANCELLED POLICY!!! - *** for coverage! didn't cover any doctors visits and we still paid $740 month! DON'T CHOOSE GOLDEN RULE!!!!

WOW Golden Rule at it's worse

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My rate just increased 22% how can a person on Social security even live at all. We got a big 1 percent increase. I am still paying of several doctors and hospital bills from last year and two years ago. with a 5000 deductible for each of us I am just trying to stay afloat. Golden rule charges more and more and covers less and less. We need a better system in this country, not Obama Care that just increases our rates. I called them and their answer it's based on the total payout of those in my plan. What about the total United Healthcare company, not just Golden Rule. I need to find an other company

Misleading Coverage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I went in for a wellness check, Golden Rule specifically mentioned they covered my families wellness checks prior to my enrolling. Not to mention that on my card it specifically mentions office visits only require a 35.00 copay at the time of visit. My Wellness check ended up costing me over 800.00 out of pocket. I specifically asked my insurance agent if wellness visits were covered under the policy. She said yes. Be aware Golden rule does not cover wellness checks or just about anything else. I have been trying for weeks to speak with an individual and I am not able to speak with a live person. Now my daughter has to go to the hospital and there is no one to call at Golden Rule to confirm providers. I am very worried about our visit as there is so much Golden Rule has misrepresented. I am worried that if I visit the hospital, I pick the wrong hospital in our emergency situation, or the doctor, or health care services in that location are not ALL individually in network, they might deny the claims. Scary, STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!!!

I am a college student with few options for health insurance. Listing them as my insurance company costs me more because they do not cover anything they claim to including what I have specifically clicked while signing up for them that I want covered. All of my prescriptions cost twice as much if I give the pharmacist my insurance card, and not even preventative care procedures are covered by their lousy excuse for insurance. They also jacked up the price out of nowhere without notifying me. If I had an alternative, they'd be out the door, but if I don't have insurance, I will be fined.

Golden Rule is a company that only cares about its bottom line. I don't expect them to care about me, but they could at least not lie to me in the millions of letters I have been sent. They initially stated that my plan was compliant with the ACA. Now, it isn't. They stated that my rate would not change. It went up $30 and this occurred AFTER open enrollment so I could not drop them and shop for another provider. They are a horrible company. I could do better budgeting my own money with the paltry sums the provide toward my claims. Obama's great plan is an absolute failure because it was designed to now overcharge citizens rather than provide quality care. Also, the subsidies are a JOKE.

Wow! Amazing!

I'm not alone! They are denying my claim based on the fact that I had a preezisting condition...

I went in ER for itch and anxiety which drove my blood pressure up at the time... I now know that I have hormonal condition, but they are saying no because that ER doc put down high blood pressure...this company sucks!

Terrible terrible company

The company is horrible and it's surprising that they are in business. This company is a scam or close to it. They'll make you work for the coverage you paid for by denying coverage and requesting you to make an appeal through them. You'll see how effective the appeal is when the "judge" is the company you are filing a complaint against. Just call the company as if you need assistance on your policy, and you'll see how long it will take to talk to a real person. The company is the worst I've dealt with, and I've never complained about a company online.
