GNC Canada was in a position about 7 or 8 years ago to stop or at least slow down Popeye's momentum in Canada. Instead Gille Houde (President) turned a blind eye to what Richard Levy (VP of Sales and Operations) was doing or in this case not doing.

Richard Levy would take out managers and RSD's to strip joints and then submit his bill to Gilles who would sign off on it and send to the US so Richard could be reimbursed. This went on for years and Richard's parties are legendary accross Canada all the while Popeye's kept making headway and now crushes GNC sales Canada wide with a little more than half the stores. What did Gilles do??? Nothing until the *** hit the fan and executives from head office Pittsburgh caught on and went up to Canada.

In an effort to save his *** (as he has done multiple times) Gilles threw Richard Levy under the bus and claimed he knew nothing. Richard's replacement who was an outstanding leader named Dave Jessop who went on to be Sr. Drector of Sales for Old Navy, was thrown under the same bus by Gilles just a year and a half later, once again to save his *** from being exposed. 6 months later it was the CFO that was next.

See a trend here? Now does everyone know why GNC Canada is still slipping and where the problem lies?

Gnc posted on this site asking people to send their complaints with customer service instead of posting them here. Why???

So they could be swept under the carpet like they always have. You think any of these complaints will ever reach Tom Dowd or Joe Fortunato??? Get serious! It's all about mark up by selling home grown brands, which are not bad, but far from the best on the market as their P3 pitch to employees claims.

My advice when I was an employee at GNC and now is: sell to clients EXACTLY what they are looking for and stop pressuring these young kids, in some cases to the point of tears, to get their P3, MV's, UPT, OMS (sugar filled under dosed chews), Gold Cards and UPT's above company benchmark, which are rediculus demands. All for minimum wage and for managers slightly above minimum wage.
