Product is sub-par

Switched from Vonage to GLOBALINX because a friend represents them and said service was better. Paid a years service upfront (over $300) took phone adapter to my home in Puerto Vallarta and spent 2 days with the tech dept trying to get it to work. They said I needed a different router, bought a new one (another $120) and still it wouldn't work. Their tech person was at a loss as to why it wouldn't work. We took pictures of cables, let them take control of our computer, nothing worked. Finally have given up and called to ask for a refund... They have refused even a partial refund, are the crazy? If they are that far off on customer service it is no surprise their products are sub-par. Dean Puerto Vallarta

The problem we ran into, and from what I am reading in the Globalinx Pro Talk 200 manual, even though it it is a digital system, the manual says to connect an ANALOG phone to it. I initially had our newer cordless phones connected and could not get it to work.

When I connected the one older analog phone to the Pro Talk modem it worked. I don't know why they would think people would have old analog phones???

You probably need a higher speed internet connection.

Globalinx or 5Linx

Globalinx or 5Linx whichever they want to hide behind has sales reps in Barrie Ontario Canada that tell you that you can port your phone number into their service. True, but only for their own products. After spending over One Thousand dollars and two and a half months as becoming a representative for Globalinx or 5 Linx ( even that sounded weird?? who am I working for actually. I guess that depends on if you need to sue them or not??) then did I learn that my cell phone number wasn't portable. Try using a totally different number than which everyone already knows. First and every complaint was, " I didn't answer your call because I thought you where a telemarketer". Beware of fast talking MLM's they just want to sign you up, get your money then leave you to the wolves. Thanks Globalinx for your, as you like to call it "misinterpretation."

Everybody won't like everything about you and neither would they about a company.

Some people like xfinity some people think thy suck. Some people like FPL some think they sucks.

Some people like walmart some people think they sucks.

It's life we can't please everybody.

We are not living in a perfect world.

I say try it if it don't for you it don't.

Something's work for some , and for others the same thing wont work big deal life goes on.

I have just been reading the negative remarks about Globalinx. I have the gsp-10 and it is working just fine.

The Belkin router has trouble letting the voice through because the router doesn't recognize certain data and the voice travels as data.. 5linx is a well respected and documented company and globalinx is a product: for those who do not know the difference.

Thank you

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BANK INFO

I had 2 services with these people the videophone which in and of itself is a joke. didn't use the junk not one time and when i called to cancel the service after giving them over forty dollars for seven months I was to be charged a service fee off $99, well guess what they stole $207.42 out of my account and when i called them they said that all they owed me back was $40 and well guess what it has yet to hit my account. I was an independent rep for them and i'm so glad I saw the light before I dared sold another service. You will not get rich from this. the most important thing to them is getting you to recruit people to get their $500 to join. Do not get this service

Greetings All:

I was a representative with 5LINX for a short period of time (March 2001 until June2011). I was also a customer of Global Linx. To make a long story short, I have cancelled my membership as well as my Global Linx service. The DTA box was absolutely useless and only worked for a week or so. Even when it worked, it wasn’t consistent. The company as a whole is the true definition of a PYRAMID. Now granted, I do believe that most organizations are pyramids as no one will ever make more than his or her manager or the CEO of the company. However, the difference is this….as long as I go in and do my job; I will get paid until I am terminated or until I terminate my position. With these types of companies, you are under constant pressure to recruit, recruit, and recruit. My up line actually sent messages ALL DAY which read “No PBR no IMR” which meant No Personal Business Receptions, No Independent Marketing Reps. In addition, the daily training calls are nothing more than an hour long sales and marketing pitch begging you to go recruit others so that they can come in and pay their $249.00..that way, everyone can keep getting their palms greased (again…true definition of a pyramid). Finally, the products are garbage and obsolete. Not many people use home phones any longer as most people have cell phones, therefore, the DTA box is useless. In addition, it doesn’t work 95% of the time. The ID protection is completely inferior to any other on line ID protection service. Not sure about Business Elite as I decided to move on to a more promising opportunity before even taking the time to learn that one. All the other services are via other companies that 5LINX Representatives just market for and get pennies for their efforts. The deals are no better than the deals that you would get on the actual company’s website. In addition, most people are not interested in contracts any longer so the cell phone portion is a bust as well……

PS..For anyone who would like to know more about my new venture, please feel free to ping me. Take Care!

I feel your pain. I was told that after losing $1200 to Globalinx, they said I owed them another $33.00 for next month which I no longer have service with them and if I didn't pay they would send it to collections.

Ha Ha What a good company where they say the reps come first. ***!!!!!!!

Unreliable service, that you cannot cancel!

We got Globalinx because we need a phone service... We just got it.. less than a month, and it never works continuously... you have to reset and reset... and they say that I need to buy another modem and router... it is just the worst service I have experienced! The people at customer service are rude and you simply cannot do anything about it. They say that I need to upgrade my modem and router, pay more and more and more... this is just not fair! They made me so mad!!! that is simply the worst experience, a complete lie!

Well THAT was obviously written by a supe...

VOIP is only as good as your Internet connection. Have you taken the box to another location, or tried to connect it directly to the modem rather than through the router?

Troubleshoot a little it may be your connection. My transition from vonage to Globalinx has been effortless.

I love Globalinx! What More can I say!

Globalinx is a wonderful service. I use the DTA adapter very frequently with my home based business. Calls never drop. I constantly ask the people that I am talking to how does the phone sound to them. They say "it is crystal clear". Sometimes people don't know what to say about the product. Maybe when it first came out, maybe they encountered obstacles. The service is saving me money every day. I LOVE Globalinx! Keep up the good work! They pay me to use the service.. I'm happy! My mother in law, two sisters in law, and niece have the phone system and love IT!

I am a rep and recently purchased the dta box. Bad service.

A lot of technical issues to connect with embarq. I also purchased id protection and it is poor service.

Guest

maybe you are one of the reps. of this product.

Ladies and Gents, I am a REP for 5linx and a seller of global linx products and I've been getting neg and pos feedback about the company and the products (phone) well, I want to say that in a week or two I will be getting My own DTA box and I will definately come back and let everyone know what the real deal is or atleast what I experiance. I myself will never represent a company that is BS and trust me I will definately let you know whats the real deal is, so be on the lookout for Mr.$tackbillion$ comments about 5linx and globalinx......until next time......PEACE

Guest

I will agree with Rourke. You have to be a rep.

This company is a BIG RIPOFF. I had service less than 30 days. The problem was always someone else. Not Globalinx.

Duh Why would I cancel a great company that saved me money.

Totla of $199.00 spent for the rip-off. They have your bank info!!!

You must be a rep and ripping the rest of the people off, thats why you say good comments on here!!

I have so many problems to make int'l calls

This company ***. I make an int'l call, if it is connected it cuts off after 1 min. and most of the time it's not working for int'l calls. I call custommer support, it's easy to get connected to billing dept, but never get connected to tech dept. If u press 3 the answering machine says 'disconnect the power and reconnect after 30 sec, and wait for 3 min', that is their technical support. I just closed the account. But I lost my number that kept more than 10 years. this guys really ***. Do not believe this company.

Globalinx is a "joke"

I tried this company and ended up experiencing the most frustrating month of my life. Poor quality service, rude and incompetent customer service and very expensive. I was never happier than I was when I heard a dial tone coming from my previous phone company. Dropped calls, phone failing to ring, static and echoes were the norm. Absolutely horrible experience. Obviously, thy put the blame on the ISP. But, if that was a problem, why did I not have problems with my previous digital phone service? These people are part of a "Pyramid" business and should be avoided. Stat away from them.

LOL !! I was a 5linx rep back over the summer , I never felt more scammed in all my life too !!

the people that I signed into the company under drove a car in worst condition than mine .. they obviously did not even know what the *** they were doing with the business module , and I really wasn't crazy about inviting strangers into my home around my family.

I would never refer any of my friends or family to this second rate service with third rate products ... all of 5linx can kiss my natural black *** !!

I have globalinx and I have no problems. I have ATT cellphone and I have drop calls.

I have an Iphone that freezes on me. That don't mean Apple or ATT is a scam. I join 5linx and it has been productive. If you take the training and do your part $$$ is to be made.

A Pyramid Scheme is what Madoff did. He was the only person who got paid. A Pyramid Structure is a 9 to 5.

Only one person at the top at a time. 5Linx is not like that and knowing the difference is half the battle.

If your in 5linx and your not making money in your first year .... RUNN!!!

the 20 cent residuals is 100% true. 5linx is a recruitment based company meaning if your not recruiting your not making money. Sorry if your a new rep just hearing this but its true. If you like MLM and you dont want to recruit 5linx is not for you.

Try www.visalus.com or one of those juice companies there you will make $40+ per product sold..

My advice join a real business and stop telling people residual takes time to build (5linx/ACN brain washing statement). Because it doesn't have to.

By the time you get to know 5linx, its to late , they have already got your money....and they wont give it back...worst service I have ever had in my life...oh and I made a whopping 20 cents residual bonus for 3 montns and I had 81 ccustomers,,,that far from the way they tell it...100 thousand a year ha

Yeah, I find all the complaints to be a bit ridiculous. I've had the service for about 20 months now.

DTA and Videophone. I've had superb service if my internet was right. You have to remember that digital phone service is predicated on good internet connection. I'm not saying that the company and service are perfect but please remember that all technology has its issues from time to time.

i've found Globalinx to constantly improve its product and practice doesn't make perfect... it makes progress. I don't hear people complaining every time their Sprint or I phone drops a call.

Things happen. People just get in an uproar because the service is not mainstream and doesn't have commericials or public advertising.

i have had my volp for a month and so far so good... all companies have a problem and when we get =use to them .. everything works out...we will see what happens...

I signed up with Globalinx back in March of 2009 because a family member assured me that it was a less expensive service. Let me tell you, it is true what they say, you get what you pay for and the less you pay, the worse service you get. In which case, you wound up paying more because essentially, you are paying for nothing and that it what I did, pay for nothing. On the first day I got the box in my mail, I tried to connect it and use it... it did not work!!! I called up Globalinx to ask them why it was not working, they proceeded to tell me that I had to fax a letter to them giving them permission to port my number from current phone company. I was in the process of moving so I was not able to do this, plus I had no fax machine and just didn't have to time to go and find one. Any way, they told me no problem, that as soon as I got my self situated at my new residence, I could call them back once I had faxed them permission to port and then they would start my service. It took me almost 3 months to move and in the meantime, they were billing me although I was still with Att phone company and was using the same number that Globalinx was billing me for. I then called Globalinx to find out why was this happening, they wound up giving me a credit for two months worth of service. I asked them, how it was that they could bill me when they told me that I was not with them until I had given them permission to port over my number. The operators response was, "We should have received permission from you to port if we are billing you" Right away, eyebrow goes up! I'm thinking, what is she talking about, I never gave the permission to port over my number so I should have not been billed at all. I proceeded to ask her was the phone service connected, she said yes it was. So, I plugged my phone up with the box just as she had told me to do and still, my home phone was not working. I sat on the phone with a tech person trying to trouble shoot the problem, the tech lady took over my computer and everything, we were on the phone for a hour in a half, still, phone never got to working. I told the lady look, I need for you to cancel this phone service, I have a family daycare to run and I just don't have the time and effort to offer to this problem. She connected me to someone else for that part for which they kept me on hold for a good 20 minutes. I requested that they discontinue the service and they did. Next thing I know I am still getting billed that following month. Now, if they really gave me a credit for 2 months and closing out my account out was an over site on their behalf, why did they send me a bill the following month? Come to find out, they kept billing me for up to 240 dollars for which I am fighting to try and get back. Not one day did I have the service and I got billed 230 dollars for nothing. Globalinx told me straight out that they were not going to refund me my money. I had to close out my account because no matter how many times I asked Globalinx to stop taking money from my account, they still continued to. To this day, I am trying to figure out how to go about getting my money back for a service I never had. That's what scam artist usually do right, convince you that you will get something great to get your money and then when they do, they give you nothing in return.

Don't do it - trust me

-dragging out the porting procedures so that they can continue to bill you for the temporary number, while you're still being billed by your current telephone service provider (by the way - that's illegal). Globalinx may tell you that that their having issues with porting your, or don't know where your number is in the process; but, just threaten to cancel - globalinx will have it completed the next day. -charging your debit/credit card all kinds of ridiculous amounts of money and charging of your card after you've canceled their service. - ridiculous hold times when speaking with customer service - if you're pissed - you'll be put on hold at least 2 times for about 5 min each when talking with Globalinx - a strategy they use to get you to hang up. - sucky telephone service, all scratcy and static ridden - lies, lies, lies - make sure that you get everything they tell you in writing, or they'll try to play you like a chicken. - the list goes on, and on, and on. Life is too short - nobody needs this kind of aggrivation from a company that you're paying your hard earned money too on a regular basis. Our relationship with Globalinx lasted barely 3 months; just say no - even if you're trying to help out a friend.

Happy Customer.

I purchased the GLOBALINX Voip service through my nephew for my home and my business. From what I understand he brokers out these services and he asked me to try it out and I abliged. After I signed up with the service I was a bit unsure of how the service would be since the company is moderately new in the Telecomunications industry. Once I began using the service I found it to be perfectly fine, I'm saving a lot money on my business lines while my home lines are just a tad bit cheaper. All in all I'm happy with the service and they really do throw in a lot of extra features, which usually cost more from most providers. On the other reviews, many people are complaining about being charged an early termination fee, even though they signed on for month-month service. This is common practice with almost every phone provider: ATT, Verizon, Vonage, etc... A-

there seemed to be more unhappy people wit Globalinx then happy people. I just started the program first day it worked great second day i could not hear my calls but could dial out, third day i could dail out hear my calls fine but know one could hear me.

They said the got a message that said this person mailbox is full try your call again later.

I called the number with my cell phone and to my disarray it was not working properly. So Globalinx service so far seems to be 50 50 but for anything that i am paying month to month for it needs to work like they say it will

Video phone works flawlessly. I do notice some tech problems with the box unit/DTA/phone adapter but the large majority of my calls have absolutely no problems. I have several products with 5Linx/Globalinx and so far customer service has been good with almost no technical issues with any of their products.

i switch my service from vovage to global links. My husband can communicate with his relative in Haiti more.

i love global links. i think about the high price i was paying with MCI,ATT and vovage and feel so much better. Also the digital phone is great. im able to see my mom and my sister in Ill.

Well sorry about your problem with them. However, you should talk to a service rep.

very happy w/5 link services

I agree with your assessment of the service. I switched my home phone service over to one of their videophones and I love the service.

I now see my kids nearly everyday and they're on the other side of the country.

It's also loaded with features and a lot cheaper than Verizon was. I love it and have never had a single problem with the service.

All 5 emails have come back to me as undeliverable. Customer service does not help. Write to 275 Kenneth Dr. Rochester, NY 14623ph (383) 334-****. Hello dear, you are taking your anger out on the wrong person. Collect Calls from jails are charged at astronomical rates and really does not have much to do with the service provider. Try receiving the same call if you have verizon and see how much it costs you.

Guest

You have awful grammar, and no puncuation. Do you realize when someone reads this they push it to the way-side because it looks like a child wrote it.

Globalinx doesn't charge per call unless it's international and outside of the 75 country plan. Did you even contact the company to see why they had charged you?

THE "YOU'RE STUCK" COMPANY

when you are porting a number, you have to keep your number active with your previous company, but if they mess up the process, it could delay your number being ported for 2 months. meanwhile you're paying globalinx for a temporary number while you're paying the older company too. then when you finally use the service with cordless handsets, it is bad...it drops calls, statics and i'm not talking about using cheap phones...i'm talking about using bad service...because the phones never did that before...call into customer service and they tell you to get better phones when the ones you already had worked with the last company just fine. try to cancel with them and they will not waive your fee.

Wait till the reps tell you that you can port your cell number. You sign up they take your money and you find out that you can't port your cell number and then they have the balls to want more money from you when you don't want their service.

Guest

Attention: Anon please u probably work for the company or did someone pay u to say that!! Everybody can't have the same issues OKAY!!

Guest

This service sucks big time!! My phone service is reasonable but quality is terrible. My calls drop,my phone doesn't ring, and i get so much static on the other end that i can't hear the other caller.

I wished that i have read this complaints before i switched...I would had worked something out with my old provider.

Customer service is terrible! They need to get reported to the, "Better Business Bureau"!

Guest

I wish I had read this before I signed up! I did this as a favor to help my friend build his business.

It's been since 11/2/09 and I'm still waiting for my number to be ported. When you call customer service, there is NEVER a supervisor around to speak to you. They open a ticket and tell you someone will call back in 48 hours. They never call back.

Meanwhile you are paying for something you cannot use. Then they try to play on words by saying you can use the box because it has a temporary number and it is a funcional box.

My answer to that is: HOW *** IS THAT? Why would I give a temporary number to people just to justify them charging me??????

Guest

it's not about it being "broke". the point of voip is to save money. your "saying" doesn't even apply to the situation

Guest

OMG! I am fed up with these idiots!

I had my phone number accidentally ported away from Globalinx on Aug 8.... what a darn mistake! Call after all back and forth with these *** one guy finally told me to submit a auth form by fax. That was 2 weeks ago...

It is now Oct 1 and I called to find the status of my #.... They said that it was ported away as of Sept 28!!! WTF!!!! What was the reason for the fax?!

Wasnt it to keep my # with GL?

I asked to speak with a supervisor and she didnt even come on the phone, she told him to tell me to submit another auth form and it would get processed by 30 days. 30 DAYS!!! Lets see... Aug 8 - Nov 1?

Meanwhile, I am still to pay my bill!? Oh yeah, I asked for reimbursement for the 2 months without a phone.... they said NO because it was not their fault. Freaking Idiots!

So, Im going with Verizon! A big name that can be trusted.

Guest

It seems you don't know too much about what you were doing. First, the process of porting a phone number from 1 carrier to another is same for every single phone company in the world.

When you request the number to be ported to Globalinx, they send the request to your previous carrier. At that point all Globainx does, is wait for your previous carrier to release the phone number, and send it to Globalinx. You have to keep the number active for your previous carrier or else you don't own the number anymore.

This process is the same for every single phone company.

The call quality issues you experienced are common with VoiP companies, and are commonly related to internet provider, it doesn't even seem like you tried to fix the call quality issues. Any one trained at any VoiP phone company is trained to go over Internet speed with the customer before telling them to "get new phones" I highly doubt you are telling the complete story here.

Wow, I guess you're just a *** for switching in the first place. "If the radio works, don't fix it"
