Kia Service manager (Mike) completely dismissed me and now I am paying for warranty work
I have a 2005 Kia Rio which was purchased new from the Glassman Auto Group in Southfield Michigan. I love my little car, it is great on gas and it has been running great. I have kept up with the routine maintenance i.e. oil changes, tune ups, fluid checks, etc. At 80,000 miles the car quit, I had it towed to the dealership and was asked if the timing belt had been changed. I advised no, Mike the service manager immediately told me that I would need a new engine and that it was not covered under the warranty. I asked how he could be so sure without even looking at the car. He said that it is a standard issue and that he knows thats what it is but if I want to give him $110.00 to tell me that its the engine then he will take the money. He was very rude in his tone and dismissive to my issue. I then had the car towed to another licensed mechanic shop and was told that the timing belt is in good condition and that its the valves and that the car can be repaired ( no new engine was needed). When I called the Kia service department and spoke to Mike to advice him that the issue is not the timing belt but the valves and that I was wondering how to get reimbursed for the work that I am paying for out of pocket, he again became very rude and sarcastic with me over the phone. I am very disappointed with the service that I have received from the service department (Mike). I am a consumer who works very hard for the things that I have and I do not think that anyone should be spoken to or treated the way that I was at this location. I will be telling whomever will listen about the service and I have decided to not give Glassman any more business. I will be purchasing my next new car from another dealership that will treat their customers with respect.
