Over charged

Giggling Squid - Over charged

My husband and I have just had lunch at your Chislehurst branch

Our order : 1 vegetarian set tapas 1 royal set 1 pint of shandy 1/2 pint of shandy

What we paid for : 1 cobra pint 1/2 cobra pint 1/2 cobra pint 1 lemonade 1 vegetarian set tapas 1 royal set

Price we paid £50.11 which is obviously too much when we queried this we was refunded £3.90 which clearly isnt enough.

We would have also paid too much for service charge.

Its such a shame because we like your food and regularly eat in your restaurants but this has put us off of using your restaurants again.

Complaints

Giggling Squid - Complaints

I had a table booked for 7th jan 5.30 pm however your staff advised I had no booking under my name and did not even bother to even accommodate my request even after showing the confirmation email . She simply said we dont have a table under your name . My table was booked for 5.30 I was 10 mins late as I had trouble finding the place which I explained as I called giggling squid as well . I was turned down on my request . There was table around which was empty and I even mentioned that I would leave the table by 7.30 pm . I had booked for my husbands birthday but then your staff was so rude and unhelpful that would not listen anything . I had to come back home annoying without any food as it was too late for me to a get booking anywhere else on a Saturday evening .

Im not sure how you would like me to take this complaint further as I did not expect this kind of service and it was completely let down for me .

*****

This was my initial email and then I get a call from your giggling squid brighton staff saying it was all my fault as I was late for my appointment when I tried to explain her that I called on that day to let them know Ill be late . I even have a proof from my call history ( not sure how to attach it over here ) . The lady wont listen to me and it is *** me off even more.

I would like to be compensated for my inconvenience on that day as it spoilt the whole evening for my entire family as I traveled from crawley to brighton for that meal and I do not want any call from the Brighton restaurent as the staff over there have no customer service skills at all.

If you like I can give you a proof that I called giggling squid on that day however they still have failed me to keep my reservation.

Absolutely aweful food and no complaints number or email

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I live in Brighton and have dined at your brilliant restaurant here several times, it's always had friendly and fun service and great vibrant food, I regularly take my friends and family here. It saddens me to have to tell you about our meal from *** in your Harborne branch near Birmingham.

We arrived for food at 8pm, the place was quiet but we assumed perhaps everyone is cutting back this year.

We ordered 2 x mixed starters which arrived fairly quickly, horrors the undercooked ribs looked like they had been popped under a grill for 2 mins and had thick layers of uncooked fat in them, I was under the impression, that is takes quite a long time for the fat to crisp up, we also had a selection of 'iceland thai crispies', I couldn't tell what they where to be honest.

Too late to cancel main dishes, which I shared with my sister super thick tempura 'iceland' crispies again but more of them this time, crispy yet soggy. I couldn't tell if there was even anything inside them resembling fish or seafood. My sister's chill beef dish was as lardy as the starter, the meat tasted vaguely off. The rice was served in cling film wraps that solidified into two glutinous balls.

Perhaps its a coincidence that we all felt ill the next day, perhaps not.

This horrendous branch will ruin your brand reputation, word is already about in the area.

To be honest all I want is a full refund, or vouchers to use in Brighton, I eat and cook a lot of Thai and its hard to get wrong. Also in Brighton we have never had a bad experience, and the food didn't taste anything like the delicious, fresh food in your Brighton branch.

We did complain at the time and got free rice, but I'm afraid it rather ruined our night and on reflection rather than write a pointless bad review I thought it best to inform the Brighton owners of the problems in Birmingham. Our meal was a hefty eye watering £200.

I look forward to a satisfactory resolution, and feel saddened to bring you this bad news. (Which never happened no reply nothing)

Voucher did not work

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was give a £50 gift voucher for the giggling Squid for my birthday. I went to the Billercay branch for lunch 22/11 for my birthday lunch.

When I presented the voucher at the end they told me it would not go through. It is valid until 22/7/23.

I am registered severely disabled and manage on very little money so having to pay the full bill was very difficult.I spent yesterday trying to email customer service at giggling Squid and phone my emails kept coming back. I would really appreciate someone contacting me to sort this out, as Im finding this difficult

Disappointing

AVOID Giggling Squid; 40 Hart Street | RG9 4AU, Henley-on-Thames, England; I'm not an expert on Thai food, but I have been to Thailand and the food at the Giggling Squid was not like any Thai food I've ever eaten. I started with a papaya salad in which I could detect no traces of papaya, just lots of shredded cabbage smothered with a sweet dressing.

This was followed by the Sunny Bay seafood dish - the menu promised a spicy dish with lime leaves and chilli, so I expected some zingy fresh flavors. What I got appeared to be a pack of frozen seafood reheated and smothered in a sickly sweet and sour sauce.

Little better was the Pad Thai I ordered as a side dish to share - this should be full of punchy flavor but it was bland and uninteresting. A sad disappointment.
