I've been using this store for at least 17 years mostly because it's across the street from where I live. It's increasing deteriorating I think primarily because of the turnover of the staff and seems to be trending with younger people and their friends from my observation.
I went to the customer service yesterday to ask a question.and the young woman who was at the counter was looking down counting money, when she looked up and saw me, she simply looked and walked away. No "may I help you?" No "somebody will be with you shortly," this young woman who is boisterous and loud, who I have observed in the store chatting it up with her coworkers on numerous occasions simply walked away, imagine that. Second, when the new system at the self-service came in where your groceries had to stay out before you could bag them, a young man yelled at me when I asked for help because I had bagged the groceries in advance and it caused the system to stop. Third, I can't tell you how many times my professional, graduate level educated son was racial ly profiled in the self-service till he just stopped going there and started going to the Safeway nearby but not as close as this store.
I won't be going to this store anymore even though its close. They need to bring the older workers back or screen these new hires better.

I was shopping at the 2415 East Market Street York, location on 1/29 evening. my family and I were using a self check out register, it kept glitching and giving us problems.
My daughter in law was trying to pay and I called for helped, An employee named Joaquin, came to help a couple of times. she finished and i sent her out to the car with the kids with some of the groceries, and she left some behind in the cart. I started to scan my order and started to have issues w/register again. it kept saying if you want this item, please return.
something like that. I called for help and Joaquin came over again, i told him i didn't know what was wrong. He looked at the screen and said you have 4 things here and all those items in your cart. i said those are the remainder of my daughter inlaws order.
i have not put any of my items in the cart yet. He said hmm, ok. And insinuated as if i was trying to steal. He started to take my things out of the bags in the cart and said lets start over and i said that those things are paid for and he said you got a receipt.
And i told him my dghtr in law had gone outside, and he said call her. At this point, he is standing in front of my cart and also in front of the scanner blocking me from doing anything. I am beyond upset at this time and told him he had just helped me and my dghter in law and saw that she had paid. and that i was just trying to pay for my things while this machine was acting up.
He continued to act *** (Smart alec) and continued to block me while i called my dghter in law to come back in with the receipt, i am shaking and very upset that i am being accused of trying to take things. He said he did not say this, which he didn't but his actions and mannerisms proved otherwise. i did not appreciate after shopping at GIANT for years on end, to be treated like i was a criminal. After seeing the receipt he still proceeded to treat me like the items were not paid for, even giving my daughter in law and child, attitude as well.
After finally being aloud to continue scanning my items and paid. I went to speak to a manager, to tell them my utter disgust in which i was treated. I forgot her name (as it was a difficult name) but her intials were H.H. --she took the time to listen to my concerns and said that the issue would be addressed with this employee.
She apologized and gave me a $25 gift card. It was not my intention to get anything out of this but acknowledgement of the mistreatment of a customer. I just want to stay that i appreciate the manager listening to me, but this has left a very bad impression on me, making me feel i don't want to shop here ever again.

Preferred solution: A can of Giant cream of mushroom soup was VERY unappetiting to look at and eat. The soup concentrrate would not dissolve into a homogenous consistency and all the soup was lumpy with undissolved concentrate

I placed a grocery order for the day before my surgery I had scheduled to have groceries for the weeks following. The delivery was scheduled for that day between 6-9pm and around 6pm I got a notification that it was en route.
Around 11:30 pm I got another notification that the driver was running behind and would be there shortly. A little after midnight the driver said the order was delivered. I waited up until midnight until order was delivered and went out to get it and the order wasnt at my address. I called multiple numbers to contact someone and it would only tell me to call back during their open hours the next day.
I have still been unable to contact anyone and its now 1pm the following day. Im left after surgery now with no groceries and stuck at home.

Suddenly. Constantly made to go to managers office to be able to use them.
I frequently purchase gift cards for my children ( Birthday, holidays, special occasions... maybe 4 per year for each adult child, a pretty substantial purchae for Giant food store) as a convenience and used to be a time saver on their way to and from work, not having to pull out their wallets and checkbooks.
The past 2 years, they were made to feel like a criminal,because the giant store in his area in PA, refused to honor them and after protesting, was made to go to the managers office, to be able to complete his purchase...even having the receipts for the gift cards.
I could understand once... but it is NOW and has continued every time they go in, which completely negates the time saving reason I purchased them for them

My wife and I have been shopping at Giant for over 40 years. Very nice store and extremely happy with them.
However we just had a not so good experience. They sent out flyer advertising bone in rib roast at 4.99 a pound with digital coupon. She had that. But wasnt till she got home we realized on the bill they charged slightly over 7.00 a pound.
When my wife took it back to customer service they said it shouldve been 6.99 a pound. Then why didnt they advertise that price in their flyer instead of 4.99. Its not the extra 10.00 we paid so much as the principle of it all. Wonder how many other people didnt check their bill.
She gave them back the roast and got her money back. Buyer beware
False advertisement and theft by deception
02-05-2024 at the Manchester PA Giant food store I purchased items that were displayed with a sale price if I used the app and download a coupon. This act in itself discriminitory for the fact that not everyone has a computer and would get charged more money then other people who do.
When I checked out the discount was not taken off for the three items I purchased.
I was charged the full price. This is not the first time, but this time I have had enough. I should not have to go down through the long confusing receipt to make sure they are not ripping me off everytime I shop. How much money has this company pocketed from this perdatory practice?
This is false advertising and theft by deception. I believe this has the grounds for a class action law suit.
Now the burden is on me to go back on my time and get a refund, like I said, not the first time.

I had a gift card to use so I had to checkout with a manned register. I had only 5 items.
The clerk entered them, then I handed her my gift card and it read "card reader error". Both the clerk and I tried multiple times to swipe it. No luck. She rang for a manager.
After waiting 5 minutes for one to appear, the manager tried to manually enter the card number but the computer had locked up. I waited over 10 minutes while they re-booted the computer! The manager said that she was afraid I would be double-charged so she didn't send me to another register. But the card hadn't worked and they had nothing else of mine.
The clerk said that this is the 3rd time recently that aisle 2 register had shut down, and aisle 16 tends to do it also. The asst. manager said that the company refuses to replace the old computers.
Also, I have been a customer at the Exeter Giant for as long as they have been in this location and EVERY time I need to use the bathrooms, I am disgusted by their uncleanliness and/or broken seats, etc.
I often want to complain but then, like today, on the Giant website, there is a loop that doesn't give you a place to enter your complaint! I will have to shop farther away or at another chain as it never seems to get better, only worse, at the Exeter Giant!
Preferred solution: remedy the situation-update and maintain bathrooms and install new registers!
Rude no caring workers
I frequent Giant's food market at 8th and Market to get a salad for lunch. The salad bar had frozen chicken chunks that was in the tray available for customers to eat(I mean frozen).
The workers ignore customers complaints regarding items that may be missing for instance tomatoes, spring mix lettuce, or salad dressing in the packs. They usually have little cups to pour dressing in, and each time
I've asked they say we don't have lids. Well it's been well over a month and no one has ordered lids. I've overheard workers say out of their mouths that they don't like the salad bar because the customers are greedy, and they refuse to refill the area.
I mean just mean, rude and don't give a *** about customer services. Furthermore, I went yesterday for a salad and only one side was available in which was one type of lettuce, no tomatoes, onions, carrots, meat, croutons, or dressings.
Today I went to get my usual salad and the bar was completely closed, not one item on available, lights were out an all. I'm done with spending my money with stores and the staff don't care about your well-being.

I bought some groceries and 3 gift cards. One card was incorrectly entered at POS and was not approved or activated.
I was charged for all 3 cards. I called Customer Service at store #6313 and was told to bring the card and receipt to ve activated. When I got there they said nothing was on the card yet i wad charged $25 for each of the three cards purchased. All I wanted was for them to activate the card.
They said they couldn't i had to call the 800 number.
When I went the balance I was told the card needs to be activated at POS so essentially I am getting the run around. Giant stole $25 from me.
