This place is ridiculous
I went to Gerald Tires #5 and Brakes for an Uber /Lyft Inspection back in January I specifically asked the girl / service writer three times that all I needed was an Uber/Lyft inspection, I left my 2012 VW Jetta with them and had my roommate pick me up . they called and said I needed two front tires and I said ok put a couple on .
I went to pick the vehicle up and asked where my Uber Lyft inspection was and she says oh we dont do them what thats what I came here for anyways I go to a different place and get the Lyft inspection done well then my low tire pressure went on I looked and sure enough one of the new tires I purchased had a slow leak in it ok no problem they put a different tire on, I drive down the road 1/10th of a mile and my low light signal comes on again I took it back two times and it kept coming on , well today they told me its not the tires fault but the computer sensors fault! And I have to take it to a dealership and have them fix it!
WTH I had no problems with the sensor light until they talked me into a couple tires and I took it there three times to get it reset and fixed! This place is terrible

Trying to talk with local head guy/girl
Interesting: Geralds counter girl gave me this website to voice my complaint.
Interesting: two other shops had differing views about the origin of my noise. Two locations of Geralds had differing views.
So, I had my front something changed and no more sound. I went back to the other location and their longtime service people told me I probably didnt need the work done.
Well, at over 250, 000 miles something probably needed changing.
Anyway, the sound is gone 850. Well spent.
Two opinions on wheel bearings
So,
I had Mobil mechanic from Edisto Beach riding in my car. An older gentleman who had too much to do to fix my problem that he told me aboutwheel bearings need changing.
So, I got my friend to change my oil and check out wheel bearings.
He has been in business a long time. The report was nothing found wrong.
So, I asked your location on Rivers Avenue, whom I trust absolutely. They checked it a few days ago and told me right front wheel bearing(s) needed replacement. He told me that probably I had hit a pothole and had hurt my bearings and they had been getting worser and worser.
He told me to bring it back due to the fact it would take two hours and they would not have enough time.
So,
This am I went to the same location with paper from previous visit, which I thought had diagnosis on it but, alas, it did not. Apparently the gentleman who had checked it before was not in today.
So,
Chris checked it and road tested it and found nothing wrong.
So, I loaded up my two hour wait period stuff and put my credit card which I had prepared to put close to the estimated repair cost of almost 500.00 on it, which I had previously been told, and got in my car and came home.
I will say that it did sound smoother driving home.
Yes, I told Chris, I know I have oversized tires on my Honda 2014 Hybrid Touring edition with 270 k miles on it. I explained to him the two whys I drive on the sometimes very wet and nail strewn streets of Charleston, not to forget the deep potholes, as the reasons for my larger than required tires.
I always buy tires from you guys because I can ALWAYS trust you.
So, what would you do if you were in my car seat, driving a car 1500+ miles a week?
BTW, I had recently used my car to carry several loads of ceramic tiles in my trunk. Could this possibly have caused a temporary noise in my rolling down the road.

For some 20 years I have purchased tires exclusively at Gerald's. After this, I won't be back.
I bought four new tires and one of them had a persistent vibration. I made four trips back and forth to the Dorchester and new Summerville locations trying to get the tires balanced. Each time the tech had a very bad attitude.
Finally I took them to NTB and it cost me $60 to get all four bran new tires balanced, but they did the job and were polite aobut it. This should have been covered under the warranty provided by the tire company. They are Westlake tires.
Preferred solution: Full refund
Refused to help customer because they would close in 45min.
A female employee of mine went to Geralds on Savannah Hwy. She had called ahead because she thought one of her front tires was going to blowout.
After calling and telling them what she was told to bring it in. She arrived at 5:10 and was told they could not help her because they closed at 6:00. They asked if she could bring back in the am. She was on the way home, Hollywood, and had to find a tire store that would help her.
Luckily she did and she was right.
The right front tire was getting to blow. I cannot believe with all the commercials that end with the cross of a church that you allow a single woman to not be helped!!
Preferred solution: Do what you advertise, which is good customer service. My employee is at the very least owed an apology from the owner of Gerald's Tire. The other solution is change your commercials and don't involve a Christian attitude when you can't live up to it.
Geralds Tire - Rear Tire Review from North Charleston, South Carolina
am a woman and i went into Gerald's tire store at 4900 rivers ave to get another tire on may 5 2014 on my passenger rear tire, I went inside and realize the worker was working on wrong tire so I told him and I replace my tire with a new one 10 days later I realized my center cap for my after market rims was gone!!!! I was pissed....
That was the one that was the wrong tire that they shouldn't have touch so I called immediately and manager gave me so many excuses for why it came off humidity to something could have happen to someone could have stole it...I guess its just a BIG consequence its the one wasn't supposed to touch!!! So I got off more upset because I'm a woman that they can tell me anything, so I got a a man to call and he told him to bring car in next day..so I did and now manager said it was in my possession and don't know what happened someone could have unscrew it and stolen it!!!!!! Really!!!!!
No I think your worker didn't screw the bolt down all the way!!! I told him I will never buy a tire from y'all again and he proceeded to hold up his hand and whoooo hoooo!!!!!!!!
