Horrible customer service and racist curators
I've been with Jeannie for several years, I am on automatic bill pay for renewal every year, Genie attempted to do a renewal charge on my credit card in the middle of the night, and in the middle of the night my credit card company sent me a possible fraud message and wanted me to approve it. But of course I was sleeping.
So I had to call my card company when I got up and saw the message, they said that Genie In addition to the normal fee that they charge, also did a bizarre red flag $1 purchase, which set off their fraud alerts. So my credit card company canceled the charge. They told me that I have to contact Jeannie and do the charge all over again. But there is no one at Jeannie to contact.
There's no one to contact even online, they make you post your question in a community center in hopes that some other member will answer the question. But this is an internal matter, which fellow members can't handle. There's no phone number to talk to a live Human being, there's no online chat to talk to a person to deal with this, and now I have a warning in my account saying that my subscription will expire tomorrow if I don't renew. I tried doing it manually, but there is not an option to put the sale through.
There's only an upgrade tab. There's no way to make the purchase, so to speak. And I have no one to talk to whatsoever. Furthermore, their curators are horrifically racist.
Whenever somebody creates a historic profile for an ancestor, the curators take it upon themselves to decide, based on their own private opinion, whether that person actually existed, despite they're being records showing their existence. And because most of these curators are Fascist atheists, they have now, since the start of the Palestinian war and attack on israel, have locked and segregated the profile Pages for all of the biblical patriarchs, disconnecting every Arab and every Hebrew from their family roots, literally denouncing them as ever having existed despite their being 66 books, by independent authors, comprising the historical record of Israel in the bible, and the Quran itself for the muslims. These people at Jeannie are allowing their religious atheist bias to Cloud their judgment. We are paying hundreds of dollars for this service, but we are at the mercy of these bigoted curators who are going to dictate to us who lived and who didn't live simply because they pick and choose what historical records to acknowledge base on their atheist beliefs.
I cannot imagine anything more anti-Semitic than to completely blockade Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and Sarah and the 12 tribes of Israel and Ishmael the father of the Arabs and Moses and all of the other Patriarchs so that no one can show their connection to them. It's criminal, these people should be legally punished for this.
User's recommendation: Beware!!!
I CANNOT ACCESS MY ACCOUNT AND THEIR SOLUTIONS DONT WORK
I was strongly urged to join GENI and upload my family history, which I did. I did not visit the site very frequently and only recently discovered that my address requires a new password, but they do not send the password.
I have created a new account but find that much is blocked by a paywall and some person(s) have made changes in the data I entered.
I cannot reach anyone and have just discovered that GENI has been taken over by a large, foreign owned company. I am very unhappy with GENI.
- Large database
- Impossible to contact a human being
Preferred solution: Access to my account under my real name
User's recommendation: Be very careful with this company, I think they only want money.
Can't log on
says my email address is no good but it is the same email address used by Geni to send me my latest Geni info. Fixing the problem would probably take 3 minutes if I could talk to someone. I tried to work with your E-assistant but then you wanted my credit card number to fix a bug in your system
User's recommendation: Signicantly improve your customer service.....

I had used geni.com in the past. The documentation depended on the person providing the input, but it was useful in finding clues to a "lost" relative.
This time it said to put in my name and my parents' names. Then it said congratulations I had free use for two weeks and then it would charge me for a membership.
If it had said anything about a membership BEFORE I "signed in", I never would have done so. The documentation isn't good enough to justify paying a fee.
User's recommendation: Don't sign in - the documentation comes from the poster. For free that might be useful. Not for money.
