Con Job
paid them 1100 last year just to have them call me every few months to harass me for more money and telling me someone stole my ip address and need more money to fix it i hate these bastards!
Terrible
I got a pop up for tech support when I went on Amazon to set up alex. Don not do the pop ups.
He somehow took over my computer with no info from me, I had no control with anything I could see him in all my files.
Then he wanted $400 for protection. Called Amazon 4 times no one knows about Geek Techs.
Squeeze for more money!
Agree with the above that. Paid $500 and after period of time they told me the new things have come up then if you need these things to keep your computer safe you have to spend another $500.
Foolish me. It’s been 19 months and my computer is worse than ever.
Have been on the phone with them for hours today and trying to fix it now I cannot even receive email. I’ll try again for tomorrow, never again!
Geek Technian: Real or Scammer, BEWARE!
I have a call yesterday 9/7/2018 day he said his name is Jerry Brooks but his accent is like one who from India. He said there company is closing and he want to reimburse the payment for their service but he want remove whatever program they installed in my computer but when I allowed him access to my computer he wants me to open my credit card cause he send me a link where I could get refund that’s when I got suspicious but he was persistent so I told him to tell me his name but I have to check it first if what he is saying is true then he just turned off the computer. So beware and don’t buy anything from this company GEEK TECHNICIAN.
Thanks to your comments I was able to stop being scammed
I was called, told there was a breach in my security, and they'd fix it for $800 . They changed that to $500 When I hesitated.
Then gave me a returning customer discount. Whole they were removing the issue I looked up these reviews and immediately disconnected with them. I stopped payment and canceled the card.
I've changed all passwords on computer. Have I done everything to avoid any further effects of their scam?
Yes, pissed and ashamed.
I fell for it and it won't happen again. I was installing my new HP printer when a 'help' pop up appeared in the lower left corner of my computer.
It appeared to be an HP help so I clicked on it and was chatting with a woman who acted like an HP employee. She said someone would call me shortly after asking for my phone number. I was called within a few minutes. The technician asked for permission to access my computer and I foolishly granted it.
He claimed that my computer was in danger because of all the foreign IP addresses he found. He wanted to install a better fire wall to protect my network.
$500 later, I had nothing to show for this scam except the credit card bill with Geek Technicians. I'm ashamed that I fell for it, but "fool me twice...".
Scam
I was led to believe that I had contacted the Geek Squad that works on my computers. I even asked that direct question and was told yes this is the Geek Squad.
I had numerous problems caused by a hacker. I was told that it was all cleared up and I still have the exact problems that I had before I called. They did nothing and had my computer tied up for several hours. I am contacting PayPal and making a claim against them to get my money back.
I cannot abide this and I will get a lawyer if necessary to get this solved once and for all.
This is a scam! Do not deal with them!
Scammed!
I had a similar experience with Geek Technician that the Apple user had. Microsoft offered to upgrade computers of those with Windows 8.1 to 10 at no cost,, so I gladly did so.
While trying to find Accessories I suddenly received the message that my computer was blocked and I should call the number on the screen. Thinking it was a Microsoft no. I called and was told I had a very serious virus which would take some time to find and eliminate, so the tech told me to stay on the line and started to unblock the virus while I watched. After about 1/2 hr.
I was asked what kind of security I had; I said AVG. He replied, no wonder. You need more protection and suggested 2 or 3 yr. contracts @ $250 to $300.
I was shocked at the price and wanted to call my technician about it. The Geek tech told me my tech would not be able to unblock it. When learning these contracts were with Geek Technician, I asked if Microsoft authorized them. He told me they are authorized all over the world, so I went ahead and gave my credit card and driver's license nos.
It took him over an hour before he removed the virus. After I hung up I called my tech and told him what happened. He was appalled that I fell for it and told me to cancel the credit card quickly. I did and am disputing the charge with my credit card co..
I tried to inform the FTC but their web site is too generic for this kind of complaint. Geek Technician is in no way authorized by Microsoft.
Preferred solution: Full refund

My mac's screen froze with a message saying call number for Apple support and I started dealing with this company which had web size www.geek-technician.com. They convinced me that they were from Apple and gave them permission to access to my Mac.
While they were accessed to my Mac, they asked me to go to my PC and they accessed to my PC as well. They were keep telling me that I attacked by Nigerian hackers and had malware. They asked me to sign up service agreement for $99 one time for a year so that they can block foreign IP attacks. They installed their application to my Mac.
They asked me to enter my credit card info while they are still monitoring my screen. My brother refused this and asked them if they are from Apple. They said confidently "yes" they were frome APPLE and they open a word file on my screen and asked me to authorized my credit card for them. At that moment my brother said hang up now and I did.
So, they kept calling us for an hour. At the same time we contacted REAL Apple.com customer service and they said they never give screen warnings to call them to resolve the issue and they do not know about this company at all. Real Apple technician that I got the number from apple.com help me to clean everything that this third party company installed. According the apple technician they used malware called "search.geniuen.com" to place the warning and hacked the computer.
Please, I want you to be aware of this. IF YOU GET A WARNING MESSAGE AFTER FROZE SCREEN AND IF IT SAYS CALL APPLE SUPPORT. DO NOT CALL THAT NUMBER AND PAY SERVICE FEE. Because Apple never charges for service.
Go to apple.com and find customer technical service number. They will for sure ask you your apple products serial number and tell you about your product. Those are real apple people.
They never use third party access software such as "teamviewer". Apple technicians has built-in connection tool that they access your apple product with serial number with your permission and they never control they just tell you what to do with a red arrow.
