Reread what you wrote. You need punctuation in the worst way!

Between that and grammar, it is hard to understand what you are saying and what you are asking for help with.

Sounds like you lost your license after a speeding ticket...or didn't have a license in the first place, and now can't get one. GC Services does have the amnesty program, but it is for when you have an unpaid traffic fines preventing you from getting a license.

Here is the link: https://amnesty.gcserv.com/

Whoever you did talk to might not have known about the program at all. From what I saw, the company has many different phone numbers.

Gc Services Debt Collection Review from Gloucester City, New Jersey

I too had an experience GC Services called me saturday AM from 517**** about an outstanding school loan of $10, 000 which I still owe them much more than that. But could settle the payment if with $8,000. I told them i had no money nor am I working. They said i could make pay $28 a month if i give them my Bank info today. I told them no i do not want to pay 28 today and said if i could 3 way call a relative. To loan me the money. Again insaid no this sounds totally unprofessional and i am done. Then faster than ever a manager was on the phone. Wow usually your waiting a good minute for a manager.

I have had a lot of calls from this company on my cell phone. I am not the person they are trying to contact.

I called them from my land line to let them know that they are calling the wrong number. They said they won't call anymore would not promise that another company may call my number. I am not in debt and owe no one money. I thought it was illegal to call cell phones numbers re: collections.

Oh well, I guess they don't care if it is illegal or not. If I get any more calls, I guess I will have no choice but to report to FCC.

It is illegal for them to robocall your cell phone. But this company does not know the meaning of the term LEGAL.

Gc Services Debt Collection Review

I too have had an experience with dealing with GC Services however it is not one that I am very fond of. I signed a contract with them to make payments on getting a student loan out of default one month before my student loan was to come out of default they called and said that my contract was no longer valid that my payment should have been higher and I had to start all over. Basically what it comes down to is they figured out they could get more money from me and they are refusing to take my last payment unless I pay the higher amount for 6 more consecutive months. They are the biggest group of weasels and Liars I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

This just happened to me. I asked why no one had told me they "were not qualifying payments" and he said something must have went wrong.

So-why is this my fault? Something seems so wrong here- these people are not here to help- they are scheming.

I received a letter from this company about back taxes that I supposedly owed since 2011. My first question was - If this was owed back in 2011, how come I am just being notified about it?

Also the person with whom I spoke with did not ask for any personal information and I found that to be strange. Normally that is the first thing they ask for. I would like to know if this company is legit before I send them any money.

I am retired and live off $821.00 a month. I have been scammed before and it is not good.

They harassed me into giving them my 1040. Saying it doesn't matter if I make my payments every month, they'll keep me in default, take my tax return every year, and garnish my wages, just because they don't have my proof of income. I must have proof of income to be in "the program ". I made my payments and they continued to abuse me over my 1040 tax papers, "pages 1&2 signed and dated". Then I finally faxed the paperwork to them, and now guess what, they're avoiding me, not answering my phone calls, I was on hold till they hung up on me, I called back and waited on hold for 18 minutes till I just hung up. I feel like I've been scammed.

If you have not already done so, I recommend contacting a consumer protection attorney in your area. Try the Dann Law firm.

GC is notorious abuser of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

They have no right whatsoever to ask for your tax return. You should be able to collect $1000 plus your attorney's fees from them.

Good Luck..

GC Services student loan program is a SCAM!

we filed a complaint with the BBB: GC services contacted me a few months ago because I was in default with one of my student loans. I enrolled in the program paying $390 a month for a total of 9 payments and the promise that I was going to be out of default at the end of the program and the benefits would be amazing after I was done with the 9 payments.

Now that I am almost done with the payments I am receiving calls from people harassing me and my wife saying that I am sending payments "voluntarily" and I need to be on a program to be out of default. They denied the fact that I was enrolled on the program and they say that they see no notes or anything to confirm that I am on a program with them and the fact that I spoke with representatives who helped me to enroll. I am not on the program but they are cashing the checks that we are sending them every single month!? They told my wife today that I can be enrolled starting now for a total of 9 to 12 payments starting on August 1st or I would be at risk of garnishment.

So they want us to make all the payments again?! We were really relying on the fact that we were almost done with the payments. We cannot afford starting the program from zero unless they send us the money that we paid. My wife keeps asking to talk with the manager named Greg who enrolled me in the program and he never returns her calls.

He is the one who helped us to be on the program that does not seem to exist. SCAM!!

My experience with GC Services The way they conduct business is extremely suspect and predatory in my opinion. They try to keep collecting to get those fees instead of working with people.

I went through the 11 month program. Turned in all of my paperwork and they sent me an amount to pay. In the 10th month of making all payments on-time(auto-draft), they tell me that I should have been paying $12 more per month and that I need to do the program again. I paid what they told me to pay and not one month while being auto deducted for 10 months did they say or mention I should be paying $12 more!

I was sent a letter every month about the deduction and not one said anything about more money. Then they tell me a lie that I didn’t give them my income and expenses. If that were the case, how did they come up with the first amount and the second amount that would suggest I owed the $12 more? The phone representative said they would review with her manager.

I made my final payment and never heard anything back. I did get a statement showing the amount paid towards my loan balance for completing the program. Fast-forward to earlier this year. I get a letter saying I am to be garnished 15% income plus another 8K plus in fees added to it!

I’m thinking this is a mistake or scam, so I go the government website and ask about this company and they assure me that they are a partner. I then contact GC services and talked to two reps at two different times, who gave conflicting statements. One said that I didn’t make qualified payments because they should have been $12 more, even though I paid the amount they gave me. This rep also said that with my current income I would have to pay $1000 a month garnishment and COULDN'T do the program again.

The actual garnishment is a little less than $1000, but not much less. Like I said if they never got any paperwork, how would you know to set a cost or come up with the $12 more??? The second rep said since the payments didn’t qualify, that I COULD do the program again and still pay the garnishment for 5 months plus a new set monthly cost for 11 months, which would have been well over $1500 a month paying the garnishment and new monthly payment. They also gave me a hearing option.

Cool. I send in all of my income and expenses for a hearing. I do everything online now, so my bills/receipts are emailed. Me and my two little ones go down to the public library and fax off the 21 pages of income, W2’s, pay-stubs, lease, utilities etc.

I didn't have a 2017 tax return because I had not filed taxes at the time. Took about 20 minutes for the lady to fax it, but it finally went through. I have my receipt and fax confirmation from the library. Wouldn’t you know, again GC lies and said that since I didn’t send any information about expenses and income, they are going to still garnish 15% with the added over 8k in fees….

I don’t know what else to do. I offered to pay $200-$250 in my hearing documentation with all of the income and expense statements where they ask, but they insist on taking 15% and charging those ridiculous fees. They claim to be trying to work with customers, but won’t accept $200-$250 a month for a mistake that GC made and not me. I’m in IT at a hospital, so I am on-call all of the time and that makes getting a second job hard to do with the scheduling conflicts.

They are truly NOT for helping and only interested in keeping you in their debt for fees. I will end up paying triple the cost of what my loans were. I am just going to let the garnishments pay it out, so that I will have a second source(my company) to verify all of my payments and wait to see what they lie about next.

It will take over 6 years to get away from this predatory collection practice! Companies like this are a MAJOR part of are the ROOT cause of the America we are living in.

If you think GC Services is a scam then you should educate yourself. Just like any other loan you have to pay back..

they need to know your income. You’re minimum payment is based off of your income. So if you never complete your paperwork then your payments are simply not verified as qualifying. It’s simple stuff guys.

GC is there to help you - you can listen to them and do things voluntarily or they can just take the money from your paycheck or social security and take your taxes. I’d rather complete my paperwork and payments to get my credit score back up! Defaulted student loans won’t go away even if you file bankruptcy.. employers will deny you jobs, you can’t buy a house and you lose the privilege of school funding and much more.

This is a federal debt - the government will sue you eventually. You’ll only hurt yourself by not doing what they tell you.

GC services is NOT in business to help consumers Genesis, you sound like a brain washed employee. I've worked in the collections industry for 18 years.

This company is a FDCPA Violator period! Horrible training of simple FDCPA guidelines, multiple calls in 1 day to home & employer, profanity used by bill collectors. The unprofessional tactics utilizes hurts the industry across the board.

GC services has been fairly sued from the State of Arizona to New York successfully. WE have to speak out about collection agency like GC serving.

I hate to tell you but my brother had the same thing happen to him. In the state of Tennessee; it is a One Party Consent State.

By federal law they (GC, and any other debt collections agencies) they have to state: this call is or may be recorded for quality training or purposes. (As a debtor you dont have to agree to that, and if you dont agree to that- they can NOT legally record it, if they do, they are in Violation of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act) With Tennessee being a one party consent state, with them having to state about this call is or may be recorded; my brother was able to record the call on his end- without their knowledge or permission. He entered into the program as well like everyone else did on this forum- he got everything on recording. And sent everything via certified.

He paid on time, every month automatic from the bank. They even sent him a letter, and email stating about the plan and program- how much each month, when auto payment deducted, how many months. On the last month of the program- they called him and told him that he was late and they was about to garnish his wages for non payment. He gave them permission for them to speak to me and I informed them that he has been keeping me in the loop.

He kept all the papers from GC in a folder, at the house. And I read the letter and email to them that they sent to him- they said it was not from us. I also informed them that as Tennessee a one party consent state-that my brother had every call recording without their permission and since by federal law and per FDCPA, they have to legally state the call is or may be recorded- and as long as he gave consent it was legal. They laughed and said no he didnt.

He ain't smart enough. I told them I was the one who told him to do it. He began that well we will place a lien on his house and I told fhem- first off, By Federal Law, FTC, and FDCPA- you now have 30 days to comply and begin suit to place a lien on the estate and 2ndly by federal, FTC, FDCPA, they can NOT legally touch the house since our grandmother left it to me and our mom and that my name not our mothers name is in this debt and his name is not on the deed. That you can not by federal law place a lien on the property- and if you do so then you will he in Violation of the FDCPA.

And in turn, both me and my mother can sue you. The guy hung up. We got a lawyer for my brother as I told him GC services are sneaky with stuff like this. When the lawyers office contacted them- the manager was quiet.

He didnt know what to say. The lawyer told them that we can take this to court or settle this out of court and that my brother was in legal rights to record and that there is proof of where they communicated by phone call, email, and letters. And that both me and my mother is the only 2 on the deed-that they have no legal stay on placing a lien on the estate. That they are violating the FDCPA and we both can and will sue you.

Needless to say, GC lost. My brother did not get his wages garnished. He did not get in trouble about the phone recording. He paid the last payment on the program and was out of default.

Even if they are after a federal student loan, they are a collection agency and still have to follow the FTC, and FDCPA laws, rules and regulations. They are NOT exempt just because they collect for the government on federal student loans. There are Collection agencies that will lie, and they to cheat debtors/consumers. I had one collection agency call me several years ago calling for one of my best friends dad and they was talking to me about his debt!

(Which 1. He did not give them permission to speak to me, and 2. Which is a big NO NO on the collection agencies end.) So dont sit there and "preach" about doing what they ask. People do fall on har times and sometimes have issues, (even medical issues).

Oh and here is another one for you kiddo. My sister mother in law took out a federal loan 9 years ago and was paying on time and everything - about 2 years ago she ended up having a massive stroke; with her husband already passed and she was the only one bringing in income (she could not work so no income - my sister and her husband helped out as much as they could but it was still not enough) she ended up loosing her home and everything. Had to move in with her son (my brother in law) and her daughter in law (my sister). And was no longer able to work.

GC services started to call, and they to speak with her- they YELLED at her because they could not understand her. (So please mr. Know it all) would ANY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY (collection agencies or not) yell at a client bc of their inability to speak because of their stroke???) After several attempts of trying to speak with her over the month- they took her to court. They tied to put a lien on my sister and bro In law home (which is illegal since their names are not with the loan, and the mom in law name is not on the deed) so they couldnt do nothing.

My bro in law went to high school with someone whose parents are lawyers. Needless to say- they couldnt get what they wanted. Her federal loans were discharged due to her condition. GC services was no longer able to collect on her.

So yes, they are crooks! So go preach your bull else where.

It's really sad that so many of the comments are from students that now believe that gc services is a scam. Not working with gc services will only hurt you, not help your loan situation.

The department of education sends your defaulted loans to gs services, this is a legitimate company. Yes, you must make your 9 qualifying payments but you also must send in all of your required paperwork in a timely fashion. Without that paperwork they cannot even verify that you are for sure making the correct payment amount each month. Once all of your paperwork is in your monthly payment may even be lowered depending on what info they get from your paperwork.

Without sending all of your paperwork in you are essentially only making a voluntary payment toward your overall loan verses a qualifying payment towards the loan rehabilitation program. Once you send all of your paperwork in, it is your responsibility to call them after a couple of days and verify that they received it all and it is in fact filled out correctly. Faxes fail, even with a confirmation page, that only confirms you sent it, not that they received it, anyone who has used a fax machine for business on a regular basis knows how often they don't go thought correctly. Mail can get lost, delayed or misplaced.

Even if you decide to take a picture and email them your agreement letter there is a chance that it will be too blurry to read. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW-UP WITH ANY COMPANY THAT YOU SEND PAPERWORK INTO TO CONFIRM THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED ALL NEEDED DOCUMENTS. Furthermore, yes, they will ask you to confirm your identity by stating your full address, this is a requirement that was given to them by the dept. of ed.

If it was a scam they wouldn't need to ask it everytime, they would take your info the 1st time and run with it. Also a simple Google search can find most people's addresses, if it were a scam they would be asking you for more pertinent information such as your social security number or such. There are a lot of scams out there and one does have to be carefully. However, the real gc services company is a legitimate company that you will only benefit from working with.

If you ever have any doubt as to if someone is trying to scam you with your student loans feel free the contract the Department of Education independently and ask them who they have servicing your loans and request that companies phone number from them. Not working with the authorized collection agency will only eventually cause you to have your wages garnished, your income taxes seized and any court rulings or settlements in your favor (a divorce settlement or wrongful termination lawsuit winnings, etc.) taken from you to help pay off your student loans. Be responsible, take the opportunity to get out of default seriously and follow through with all requirements and the program will only benefit you. I hope this helps.

I wasn't going to write anything but I truly hated reading all of the misinformation as to how you should handle working with a legitimate collection agency. Best of luck!

Again, another GC services employee AKA Anonymous, is blaming consumers for the daily harrassment & illegal tactics used by GC servicing. My husband 25 yrs ago attended a school for 2 1/2 months, and without notification the school closed its doors leaving students without a alternative to complete their studied.

MDHE was notified by numerous students in 1994. Admin staff was charged with Fraud, and other charges. The loan was somehow turned over to 3rd party collection agency over 7 times before GC services got it. Dispute letters request original creditor info to everyone, each time previous agencies returned this "purchase paper" back to MDHE Citing: Disputed/ along with Registered Agent +Dissolution file#, legal docs Re: case against defunct Institution.

1 contact with GC services advising the collector of dispute, req original creditor loan info, advice collector of several prior dispute letters to previous agencies, etc. GC services collector didn't have basic knowledge of the dispute process, refuse to listen to important steps made, did NOT note the file (Heard NO TYPING, refused to read back any notes). 7 months later without written notice: unspecified garnishment ??? We have formerly file a complaint with Missouri Atty Gen ofc, retained a Atty, etc.

GC services employ false & deceptive means to collect a debt using unfair & unconscionable means to collect. SAD WHEN CONSUMERS ARE BLAMED ...

Website for ticket payment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

It's bad enough to have to pay a ticket but when a company like GC services makes you jump through hoops to do it, it adds insult to injury.

I have been trying to pay my ticket on line for months and after going through the trouble to input all my information just to get and unsuccessful notification at the end is definitely beyond frustrating. Their representative will tell you to try at a different time but I believe they know that it just doesn't work but are instructed not to admit it. I have tried different browsers and many many different times even early am hours to no avail. There's really only two options to make a payment if you want to have a record of the payment, going for a ride every month to the crowded court house to wait in several long lines just to pay or to wait on hold for and hour or more, the last time it was almost two hours just to make a payment.

I believe in the interest of the people, not only ticket payers but tax payers who pay the salaries of our court system, that the Compton Court House should drop GC services or at the very least make them provide an actual working convenient way for the people who are making an honest effort, to pay there civil responsibilities

Sincerely and regrettably

A representative calls my house without explaining who they were and what they were calling for they proceed to ask me my date of birth and last 4 digits my social security number. I asked who they were she just said GC services. I told her that I don't give info to people I know nothing about over the phone. I asked if they can said an official letter and she said legally she can ask me those questions ... Still don't know who they are. Usually collectors say the call is recorded and the call is to collect a debt, etc... She didn't say any of that. She just proceeded to ask me my personal info so I hung up.

Early morning phone call (8:00 am)

Woman called to ask for spouse or son, both have same name. When I asked for her name, she gave it, I pressed for company name, she gave it and phone number but refused to tell me why she was calling. I advised that she was calling "me" on my home phone, which is in "my" name and I didn't appreciate her not telling me what was at issue. She said she spoke to "him" at this number before. My husband never uses the home phone number, it is solely mine. If she was calling about my adult son, he left home years ago. I called back the number she provided, sounded like same female but, she said she won't tell me anymore unless I give information. I advised it was a harassing call and she was reported to NOMORO and that I would be reporting her to Chelmsford Police for harassment.

So if you had an STD and a doctor called your phone and your husband picked up you would be okay with the Doctor telling him ?

What does that have to do with the prices in China. Just a saying....She was saying that if it is something to do with her talk to her and when she gets on the phone don't tell her that you cannot tell her anything. If you can run your mouth to my husband about MY BUSINESS than you sure should be able to tell me why you are calling ME.

One of many ex-employees of GC Services.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I worked there for about three months in 2012 in Knoxville, TN. I was desperate to get out of my mother's house and find an apartment, so I took the first job that came up. Both of my roommates also worked there, in different departments. I quit because of the unethical business practices. One of my roommates was fired for... Some reason. I'm not sure what, but it was inconsequential.

It was advertised as "customer service", but in reality was a debt collection agency. Minimum wage, with "incentives" that could theoretically boost you to $10.25/hr, but were nigh impossible to get (in my department, I only knew of six people who managed to hit those incentives regularly, all of whom were the managers' favorite employees).

Every other week, in my department alone, there was a training group packed with 10-20 people, and the call floors were almost always full.

Don't work at GC Services. Ever. Take the time to find a job at McDonalds.

The only positive to working at GC Services is that it's basically a free slot on your resume regardless of whether you get fired or quit, because I'm pretty sure that wherever a GC Services branch exists, they've hired and fired almost a third of everyone you'll meet at least once.

As for the services they provide: The department you have to deal with determines the quality of service you receive, but all of them are packed with employees trained not to make your life easier, but rather, to collect payments at any cost. Capital One Auto Finance, for instance, refuses to make any reference of the word "repossession", but they actively leave out information that a customer may need to get out of debt successfully. The other auto loans divisions were much more heavy-handed, and I distinctly remember seeing, one day while I was leaving work, one employee threatening customers and suggesting that they sell a kidney or work in prostitution for extra money.

If they're calling from GC Services, they're trying to get ahold of someone to help get their payment made. No ones trying to harass anyone for the *** of it.
