This is one of the reasons we strongly encourage clients to purchase travel protection. Your situation is a good example of where it could come in handy.

Per your last communication with our office you indicated you would submit a claim with your travel insurance and would follow up if needed. While it seems our staff was helpful addressing your situation, we regret if you felt that was not the case.

Yes, we had a similar problem with Gate 1 on a recent Greece trip. We were told we would have two "separate" beds at each hotel.

However, at one hotel, it was one bed frame with two mattresses. Believe me, that is not separate.

Hello, We do regret any lapse in service when you contacted us regarding the credit. Upon review of the information sent to you regarding your credit, it does state, "you are eligible to receive a $300 per person price reduction on your next escorted tour or river cruise with Gate 1 Travel." Unfortunately, as the Iceland trip was Independent, the credit was not applicable. We do apologize for any misunderstanding.

Stiff , unreasonable %35 - %50 penalty 2.5 months before departure

under all sold out condition. Terrible policy.

Terrible company. Terrible president and customer service.

Money is king for them not people they work for.

Just returned from Puglia/Sorrento etc trip to Italy. It was the best.

Last May we did northern Italy with Perrillo. Perrillo put us in two atrocious hotels - one we had to change rooms 4x- FB theoughout the trip substandard for Italy. Skimpy lunch in Venice.(we were told Perrillo only ordered one salad now per huge table and one bottle each of red and white.

NO MORE.Gate 1 awesome hotels and food. Francesco the group escort so knowledgeable, helpful and interesting.I will not use any other than Gate 1.

Unfortunately, airline prices do constantly fluctuate and are beyond Gate 1’s control as we do not own or operate the airlines. However, we regret if this was not explained more clearly as well as any lapse in service.

That could have been true, as blocks are sold to agencies not all rooms would be available to them, only the block that was sold to them. They same is true of airline tickets. So all the rooms allotted to Gate 1 may have been sold out.

That is a ridiculous and ignorant statement. I have traveled with Gate 1 on 5 trips.

I have had excellent customer service and fabulous trips. I have traveled with people who have traveled with Gate 1 multiple times. I'd hate to have someone read this negative statement and be swayed away from Gate 1.

They would be missing a wonderful travel experience. People that make silly statements like this are inexperienced travelers who don't read the details.
