That's is a bizarrely huge amount of tips! You include the entire amount for your group but don't say how large your group was.

We just did a two week tour to India and used their recommended amounts, plus added on extra for the guide and bus driver and helper and still gave them a total of under $400 for two people. Well worth every penny. They worked very hard to keep us safe (driving) and comfortable. (Cheaper than tipping on a cruise!) Our guide told us not to tip hotel porters or other people who helped us because Gate 1 gave them tips.

We still gave a few rupees.

They work very hard to make us comfortable and they never asked for anything. Some people on our tour didn't like being nickle and dimed for camera fees at monuments but personally I don't care about a few cents here and there.

Unfortunately our issue with Gate 1 hadn't been resolved and we will NEVER use their sevices again and we will NEVER recommend Gate 1 Travel to ANYONE! Gate 1 Travel failed us terribly in resolving the issue via customer service. You never know the type of company that you patronized until you are faced with issues that they failed to resolve. The tour director was terrible!!!

Get trip insurance next time. I traveled independently with my daughter last year and became ill during European road trip , requiring hospitalization, one week in to a 3 week itinerary.

Had to return home with a nurse and oxygen. Thousands paid in medical bills, business class return flight home, lost travel days, refund on unused hotel, rental car, and all my daughters costs.

ALWAYS....ALWAYS, get travel and medical insurance. The 4-5 hundred dollars spent really covers costs.

I apologize for the remarks of others to you for their clearly lack of compassion, callousness and poor judgement. You deserve a sincere apology from Gate 1 and from the remarks of the other commenters .

We've come a long way with ethnicity sensitivity but have a long way to go.

I would like to see an apology from your insensitive tour guide and from Gate 1 for the actions of their representative.

And don't "stay home" as you were ill advised to do.

Lastly, I would prefer to see "pissed consumer " changed to another name with less vulgarity.

Buy trip insurance. That's what it is for.

The tour company has to reserves hotels rooms, restaurants, guides, and so on. They've already spent the money you sent them.

Gate1travel in Sebastian, Florida - Terrible Service

My wife and I took a tour to Costa Rica, The Hotels they put us in were terrible: dirt, unsafe and pool was green, bed experience, I try to open one window and almust broke my fingers the top slammed down, it portion was held up by a piece of wood stick, I try the second window and the same think happen, once home I emailed a complain to the main office never got a respond, obviously they don't check the hotel they put their costumers in they only look at what they pay for it, I understand that a Company has to make money but please do it with respect to others!! This was my second tour with Gate1 and my last one.
