If the tour guide did nothing to address it even after you & other guests have expressed your concerns to the guide, then it's the tour guide's incompetence, hence Gate1's fault.

Gate1travel in Walnut Creek, California - Lost money

I lost more than 1200.00 because it was "instant purchase" because I could not go on a trip and someone else was found to take my place. Also customer service was very rude and told me "you are not listening" when I told her I did not understand why they were punishing me when their terms and conditions say you can change the name on a ticket. I would not recommend anyone use this service. You can get cheap group tickets from other agencies with much better customer service. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I've taken five tours with Gate 1and have booked another leaving March 20, for Morocco. I have had nothing but exceptional tours and dealings with their customer service people.The Gate 1 website plainly states the the "rules." I'd suggest they be read carefully before booking a tour. Gate 1 sells insurance guarding agatnst the problem stated in the complaint.

Gate1travel in San Francisco, California - Their website reviews are rigged. There are all these wonderful

praises but no complaints or not even little issues. I wrote a review on Yelp on Gate 1. It was there for a day, and quickly disappeared. It was not so much as a complaint, but merely mentioned a few facts about optional tours and tipping, and about the tour guide's good points and bad points. Well, they did not like it. It disappeared from Yelp. My friend and I paid $326 extra for an earlier flight. Well, Lufthansa was delayed so we wound up arriving in Istanbul at 3:30am, instead of 4:50pm. The $326 was to avoid a midnight arrival. Gate1 refuses to work it out with the airline to get our refund.

The last email I received from Gate 1 manager was 6 days ago saying there was nothing he can or will do. He was dismissive.

Gate1travel - Scare tactic used to buy their transfers in Russia

We took the 10 day River Trip in Russia. We were told that taxis would overcharge us and not adhere to previously agreed fees. We had no trouble getting a taxi to the dock in St. Petersburg for about $38 for 2, Gate 1 price, $181 for 2. We did not see online how easy or difficult it might be at the Moscow dock so took Gate 1 transfer for $181. They called a taxi for us and he handed us a receipt for 1200 rubles or about $38. They made a $143 profit! They are the Motel 6 version of river tours, tiny cabins, limited service, drinks provided only at meal time, lousy wi-fi service. We had some good local guides, but not all. Think carefully before signing on.

They do not believe in Cutomer satisfaction once you have booked a trip. Totally non- responsive.

You can leave messages till cows come home.

They are very rigid. It took three months and innumerable phone and e-mail messages to get a pre and post Russian River Cruise hotels.

I also had the same problem with Brian. Be careful when you book with Gate 1.

They will lower the prices and then not honor the lower price. I booked 10 months in advance and 1 month later found they had a lower price by $400. They refused to honor the lower price.

Most reputable companies will honor a lower price up until the final payment date (usually 60 to 90 days before departure). No more Gate 1 travel for me.

Gate1travel - Discrimination

I have always wanted to go to Turkey and saw a trip on Groupon through Gate 1. I contacted Gate 1 directly before booking - thank goodness. My husband has peripheral neuropathy and cannot walk for too .long. I asked about bringing a wheel chair and was informed that not only could we not bring a wheel chair, we could not bring a walker, crutches or a cane - only a fold up cane that could go into abag, is Gate 1 discriminating against handicapped people or does Turkey discriminate? this certainly does not make for very good feeling towards Turkish travel. What a major disappointment!

We have been on seven gate one tours and my friend Richsrd uses a cane with gate one with no problems, this year Australia New Zealand an Ayers Rock. 2 years ago South Africa.

These were intense trips walking numerous flights. No problem with a cane Janet Wodland

Escorted tours do tend to be fast paced and are not suitable for clients with walking issues and traveling with a walker or a wheelchair. Due to the nature of the escorted tours we have a policy that addresses these issues. We do offer independent travel services such as cruises, packages with rail, individual hotel reservation along flights.

We would more then pleased to have our staff review any of these options.

My family and I spent our X-mas vacation with Virgin Vacations ( gate 1) to Thailand. What a mistake, I would not do it again. They missed to pick us up at the airport, and after 2/hrs of searching we had to hire taxi to go to the hotel. They didn't bother to come to airport and pick us up as they promised when we purchased our Vacation package. And that was just the beginning. We paid for five, but on my surprised more than half of our vacation we had four beds, and if we want to have another bed we had to pay for it. When I came back and complaint to Virgin Vacation ( Gate 1) They acknowledge of being fully aware of this, but chose to charge their customer for five people and give service for four. My final word, if you have to travel with Virgin Vacations ( Gate 1) which I hope you don't, because you get cheated somewhere and somehow by this company.

Gate1 Travel will not work with you if you have problems. Even if you bought the insurance.

You will never hear back.

Once something goes wrong they are no longer friendly or responsive. As long as nothing goes wrong you will be fine, but in case something does, buy insurance through an outside reputable vendor.
