Gasx Commercial Disgusting
I realize that many people find bathroom humor funny, but I've always found it disgusting. The gasx commercial which shows a guy in an interview and the interviewer plays on words of human bodily functions is imagery best kept in the lavatory.
The arguments against my opinion are usually along the lines of "it's natural." Well there are many natural things that are best kept in doctor's offices. The name of the product and the slogan perfectly describes what its for without the disgusting imagery. It's enough we have found it necessary to go into graphic detail about toilet paper (from the more clever squeezing Charmin campaign to cartoon bears fresh from relief in the woods, dusting off each other's bottoms), to the detailed talk about menstrual cycles and yeast infections. Should we not expect a little more decorum as a civilized society?
Or is Madison Avenue correct in assuming that we are no better than animals on who truly creative advertising is wasted energy. I am certainly not to the manor born. Like so many on busy schedules I often watch a little TV while eating, which makes this kind of telecasting all the more revolting.
I think whenever it is applicable, I shall use Maalox or TUMS to show my support of tasteful advertising.
