Prepare for legal action

Original review May 14, 2023

Housing discrimination, financial mismanagement, and insurance scam by manager tom berg for many years. Neighbors together contact company director Kirk Gassen, no answer, a bunch of crooks.

After home owners wrote to the city, it was discovered that this company used unqualified construction Ryland who violated city building code. A list of more than 50 house external damages and City walkways cracks needed to be fixed. Tom berg delayed for 6 months then got off by replacing another management company, 1st Service Residential. Roof maintenance has never been done since 2005.

Many homes deal with roof leakages, water damage, unoccupied rooms in the house and all claims are being denied. We need Justice.

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Stay away from this scammer. Report : 800827****

We are getting wrongfully sued by Gassen Companies for a debt that was discharged in a bankruptcy AND in a foreclosure!

AI Highlights
  • - Gassen filed a $10k+ lawsuit for a $7k debt discharged in bankruptcy/foreclosure; they represent Ridgeview HOA in Burnsville, MN.

Gassen filed a lawsuit after being notified that a homeowner's association debt was discharged in a bankruptcy AND in a foreclosure (but hey, don't let that stop them...) - in my opinion AVOID!!!

Gassen represents a homeowners association for a condo complex called Ridgeview in Burnsville, MN where we used to own a condo (or the incredible shrinking equity home!)

We gave the property up when it was discharged in a chapter 7 bankruptcy almost 2 years ago and the property went in foreclosure sheriff sale a year ago with immediate possession as it was vacant.

The attorney Gassen uses sent us a letter saying that we owed approximately $7,000.00 in unpaid association dues. I notified the attorney by email to consult with him that he was trying to collect on a debt discharged in a bankruptcy on a property that we do not own.

Instead of looking into the bankruptcy and foreclosure or even having the professionalism to respond to the email, Gassen filed a lawsuit against us in the amount of $10,000 plus attorney fee (while I usually appreciate ELECTION-STYLE math where 7=10, I don't like it so much in this case).

It is illegal and dishonest to collect on a debt that is discharged in a bankruptcy... But hey, why let THAT stop you right?

Gassen has been repeatedly informed about this and ignored it. (I literally have a mental visual of them closing their eyes with their fingers in their ears shouting "LA-LA-LA".

I called Beth Gassen at Gassen companies (couldn't possibly be a relation... MUST be a coincidence) and told her I wanted proof that the debt was owed (as is required by EVERY LAW covering this entire situation) or I would file a lawsuit (adding for enough money to retire on... sun, sand and a margarita). She got hostile, refused to provide me with the information requested and refused to talk saying she would have Gassen's Lawyers reach out to me (no ***, again?)

I wish that Gassen and Beth there could have been more helpful, more reasonable and seemingly more honest. So I Googled them! Yikes!

If you want to know what Gassen is really like, Google them. You will be shocked.

Let me start you on your journey about Gassen

Here is the DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE OF THE UNITED STATES and their lawsuit against Gassen: justice.gov/opa/pr/green…

...and discrimination: startribune.com/feds-sue…

...and discrimination: hoareformcoalition.org/2…

Here is the Consent Order Gassen entered into... this was LESS THAN A YEAR AGO! justice.gov/sites/defaul…

If you have the option, I recommend using ANY company other than Gassen - they have proven through this action and their discrimination to be people that I can't imagine anyone of character wanting to do business with. But that's none of my business...

Loss:
$10000
Pros:
  • Were nailed for discrimination
Cons:
  • Lack of transparency
  • Hostile attitudes when called
  • Unwillingness to provide documentation
Reason of review:
Poor customer service

Preferred solution: Elimination of any monies that are claimed we owe, cease and desist any contact with us, drop suit, never interact with us in any way again.
