Failure to Disclose Insurance Status
The Billing/Office Manager at Garlitz Dentistry in Columbia, SC failed to notify me that my Dentist was no longer a preferred provider in my insurance group prior to services being rendered. This caused me to incur several hundred dollars in out of pocket costs.
I stopped payment on a check until I could get further clarification of the bill, she refused to explain the charges, and registered a complaint with the solicitor's office (without contacting me to find out why the check didn't go through). I never received any other communication (i.e., bill, etc.) from them, either.

Her name is Charity and I will be suing if I don't get to the bottom of my issue. I've own my own business and out of respect for Dr Gartlitz and his practice I am trying to make contact with him before moving forward but as Charity told me the buck stops with her.
She is gonna find herself out of a job dealing with me and mine so she just as well own up to her mistakes and yes that's more than one. I can understanding things happening but at least own up to it and not on my dime.
All I know is--that office has gone to *** since Chris & Stephanie left. I really Dr.
Garlitz & all the Dental Assistants, but the one in charge of billing now is incompetent to say the least.
I'd been going there since it was under Dr. Walsh & never had any problems before this year.
Saw this post, Dr. Garlitz office has always been superb with us. Think your frustration may be aimed at the wrong target.
I deal with insurance everyday and the insurance companies are absolutely dispicable in what they cover and don't cover for in and out of network care now,yet their CEOs have 20 million dollar yachts and private jets. Their customers have to pay ridiculous co-pays and deductibles for their health care for their luxuroius lifestyle. Honestly, that's where you need to aim your bullet.
For a Doctor to be in-network he has to do the treatment for practically free and I'm not kidding. It's getting harder and harder to be "in-network" and not "in-bankruptcy."
For a little perspective here, I can't get out of my mechanic's shop for less than $500 at a time and that's a car!! He might have a high school diploma. $400 for premium dental care for a human being in clean, safe, sterile office with people that have more education than a rocket scientist these days still seems like a pretty good deal to me.
Sorry about the co-pay but I suggest you attack your Insurance Company. Think about it...you pay them a big premiums every month for nothing, but your dentist actually does something to try to help you when you pay him. :)
