Terrible Product, Rude Costumer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The product claimed that it is able to be walked on after an hour which is not true at all. Even hours later that night it was still not walkable.

The next day it rained and almost everything washed off. I did all the steps correctly to prepare for the application of the product and there are obvious areas of damage, but the whole driveway needs re-applied. Not only did I waste a whole day of work but I lost about $700.00 on a product that was not what it claimed.

When I contacted the company to file a claim, they took a long time to respond and more importantly, they are very very very rude. NEVER buy this product because it does NOT work and its a waste of money.

Drive 5 driveway sealer washed off and ruined my garage.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Contacted the company after applying the product and two days later rain washed it offand it splashed up and ruined my garage and doors. Was hoping for info on how to clean it and after numerous contacts, form filling out, received a letter in the mail stating that they are sorry and said I applied it during rain which is not the truth.

Product stated 36 hours prior and I did so. They do not stand by their products, and did not communicate well.

I have photos, but am unable to upload. Now I wasted money and have a new pole barn with black spots!!

A several years ago this company and others started taking out chemicals that helped these sealers and patch harden/dry because they are considered VOCs. I don't see how a product that dries slower, peels or disintegrates faster is better for the environment.

Most stores sell the same crap with similar formulas Years ago most sealers initial dry would be around 4 hours and be ready for traffic in 24-36 hours. Now 60 hours later the sealers and patches are still soft and tacky.

This Company, the Products & The Warranty SUCK

Like the first reviewer, my coating peeled after 7 months. Maddening enough, but the "Satisfaction Guaranteed" Warranty means you have to take & send multiple photos, and fill out a 1,000 question debriefing form, all so they can deny you followed the directions, and tell you to get bent.

Save your money, and like me, your even more valuable time removing this *** after it fails!

I'm now faced with not only re-doing the driveway, but I now have to get all of this mostly peeling *** off, so the real product will adhere.Use a product from any other company- these folks will poke you where the sun don't shine. (NOT KIDDING!)

Black Jack Driveway Sealer

The Black Jack Driveway sealer manufactured by Garner-Gibson Company is a worthless product and the company is ever more worthless. They have a 5 year warranty for their product but when you submit a claim they do not honor it.

The product didn't last one winter. When I submitted the claim they said it was too cold when I applied it, when I followed thier directions word or word. Thier directions say to apply the product when it is above 65 degrees.

They denied my claim by saying it got below 65 overnight. What a piece of *** company.

I bought this product from Ace Hardware in Redwood City. I also had my people follow the directions completely.

It is peeling in all areas of my driveway. I want to wait to see how Ace Hardware handles this coplaint. I have asked that they send out a representative to take a look.

I have never had this problem before. If it does not get resolved than please comment back to me to see how many other customers have had the same experience.

Sincerely,

Stan Cartwright

I've had problems with the Black Jack Speed Patch, I bought over a half dozen containers and each one was different in quality, the volume of material, water and dry time.

I will say the warmer the better with any asphalt sealer or repair product. Always do on a sunny and/or windy low humidity day.

Make sure surface is clean especially of any drippings from a car. Spray down driveway to wash away any *** including old suds from car wash. Most sealers have to be applied on damp to wet surface-no puddles(I know contradiction to sunny low humidity day). The damp makes it easier to use and allows time for the actual filler to settle to the bottom of low spots and cracks.

Also ALWAYS STIR, about every 2 minutes most sealers need to be stirred. If you have more than a light sand residue at the bottom you didn't stir enough.

With modern sealers I'd say 65 isn't even warm enough. My guess the removal of some of the VOCs in sealers over the years has slowed dry time.

Flakes off after a couple months.....I am very disappointed with this product. Applied according to the directions. Company would not honor the warranty.

I applied to my driveway and a friends what an eye sore we have now . FLAKES OFF EVERYTIME IT RAINS.

DONT BY THIS PRODUCT

Don't buy this stuff, we had the same problem. I applied it in august, after two weeks the black turned to gray, you could rub the stuff off with your foot.

The company, gave the same lame excuse, was under 65 degrees at night, never had that problem with latexite from Home Depot.

I am very disappointed in Blackjack sealer. I applied it this summer according to the directions and now this winter it is flaking off and being carried under shoes into the house and also being carried by snow melting down the driveway.

Very disappointed.

I want my money back. This was supposed to last 7 years - not even 7 months

Guest

Same here. I got the shortest amount of wear I've ever gotten off of any driveway sealer AND the price has basically doubled over the last several years yet fuel prices have stabilized ie shipping should be the biggest non controllable cost. Product quality does not justify the price. It's nothing but a gritty paint at this point, unlike the driveway sealer you got a decade ago anywhere which was more rubberized like an actual sealer.

I also think there is some kind of price fixing going on because they've had few sales ANYWHERE.

My only alternative is yuck, Home Depot and laxe-it, and much more money.
