Called customer service. The gentleman who helped me )kicking myself for not remembering his name) addressed all the concerns I had even before I asked. In this current climate of snakiness its so refreshing to feel someone has your best interest in mind instead of imposing theirs.

Gardener's Supply Outlet Store - Bad Management

I worked here briefly several summers ago. My job as a teacher did not pay enough to meet my monthly bills so I was forced to take on a retail job. I worked here for about 6 months. The staff was friendly but there was a huge turnover because of the unreasonable demands of the manager, Mike. He is a big burly guy. The place paid only slightly above minimum wage but he demanded that the staff stay beyond normal hours to clean up if there were customers who lingered beyond closing hours. Sometimes we were forced to work an extra hour and he did not pay for it. I never complained but there was one time I had friends traveling from out of state to visit me. I asked for the day off and he would not let me. Even though I had always stayed and worked extra hours and helped him out without complaints, while everyone else quit. That day when I came in, he yelled at me for not cleaning up after the prior staff who had left a mess on the front desk. That was not work I was part of either. This place, like so many places in Vermont and northern New England, is run by idiots and rude, unkind people. There are limits to how much you can take. I never complained. I even left on good terms by the end of the summer. I did visit once many years later and it is still run by the same belligerent guy. He treated me like I was his favorite but he was such an *** to work for. That should not happen in any workplace. No wonder everyone quit.

That sucks. sorry to hear that.

Good you wrote about it.

Hopefully they will get a better manager to run the place who appreciates good staff. Good luck in your teaching career.

Fraudulent web site for gardeners

I too have the same complaints about the plants sold from their fabulous magazine and website. They had some nerve sending what they did in a little bag of dirt. I spent about $200.00 on nothing but a waste of time. I have a green thumb and when I can't make something grow it's a problem. False advertising to the MAX. Everything said was a lie. From plants to fertilizers. Never Again. Folks go to Cottage Farms. If------if something goes wrong they replace and ship for free. Great plants and flowers. What goes around, comes around. A New Jersey from the Garden State!
